Napoleon Dynamite : Love it or Hate it?

I personally love it. It conveys geek culture in a simple way but is oh so effective. I know lots of people who hate it and dont find it funny in the slightest. I think you can only find it funny if you know someone who is like Napoleon Dynamite or knows geek culture (playing RS would give you some good experience :P ).

So do you hate it or love it and reason why?

And no lol why do you always want to get stuff from John Lewis. Its over ̣̉300 more then than what i paid.

John Lewis is a great, great shop.

People have criticised it because it seems to lack a specific plot, it's loosely all about a run for class president. I disagree in the opinion that I don't think it needs a plot. It introduced unconventional and unique humour and thus I don't think it needs a 'conventional' plot or chain of events to follow. I think the lack of structure compliments the humour well and adds to it.

It undeniably brought things into our culture and I love it :)

I loved it. It's just annoying when people keep repeating the lines over and over again. :P

Teaching and inspiring.

funny, but IMO its over rated and people at school saying the lines gets old real fast..

Love it to answer the question. It definitely introduced new funny sayings like "your mom goes to college"...i don't know how many times i hear that a day

"El que no arriesga no gana"

It's a pretty pointless movie, yet it makes you want to pee in your pants.

The End.

P.S. I like your sleeves.

It's great the first time you see it, but after that, it gets old. Also - if you've been hyped up for it by other people you won't enjoy it - it's a film you need to go into without expectations.

I had high expectations from what I'd heard. Then found that I hated the movie(possibly a result of the expectations)

Great and Hilarious movie the first or second time. Then gets old after people started quoting every day and you've watched it maybe more than 3 times.

I liked it when I first saw it, but the constant quoting, and whoring of the merchandise (shirts, dvd's, friggin action figures) has sort of turned me against it :?

I did initially like it, though! :P

Hate it.

I generaly am surrounded in a lot of the 'geek culture', but I hated that movie, don't know what was funny about it...

didnt love it, did find it funny though :D

I don't hear the lines that much anymore, great movie overall for an independent film that made it big

A lot of ppl didn't like it. I thought it was funny. If you start laughing when he pulls out the toy and drags it behind the school bus, then u'll like the whole movie. Ppl said it was too slow for them and they had to fast forward through a lot of it. I thought it was all funny except kip's wedding and relationship.

It was a little funny the first time I saw it. Then it just got really old and pathetic. How can you say that it's funny? It's a movie about a guy who is practically mentaly and socially retarted. When people laugh about that movie I die a little inside, how can you say this funny? He gets beat up, his tots get stolen, his croch gets burned by a 'time machine', and he gets beat up by his *bleep-hole* uncle. Yes, I'm very angry. ;)

I personally think that Jon Heder (Napoleon) is a good actor... By the way, did you know that Napoleon only got $1000 for doing the movie? I just thought that was interesting. Stilll, I just find the entire plot and movie sickening.

i thought it was hilarious, looking at it from a completly satirical point of view though. one of its greatest appeals to me was it utter corny-ness, some of the quotes (like the anything the rex-quando guy says) have ...im not gonna say timeless, but theyre more than one laughs worth

edit: the other day (before i got a haircut) someone said i look like him, i felt a combination of being proud and insulted simultaniously, of course i had to say thanks to them and "do you ever take it over any sweet jumps"

Well, being in England, you don't hear the lines being said over and over again as I'm sure you would State Side. I agree with what most people are saying here that it would get old after seeing it 3+ times, that's why I've made myself watch it only twice. :P

Lol yeah, I limit myself in order to keep the comical value alive :P

First time in my life i agree with Nadril on this, it was the worst excuse for spending 5 dollars in my life EVER.

It was stupid, pointless, lacked a plot, and generally lacked everything needed for a hit movie.

Personally I really liked it when it first came out. But like a lot of people the buzz has worn off, and now with all the merchandise around I just wish it would go away. But I imagine in a few years when all the merchandise and hype dies down, it will be funny to watch again.

Your true character is what you are like when you believe there are no repercussions.

Hate it.

You took the words right outta my mouth. Except I didn't pay 5 bucks to see it as I waited for it to show on tv.

122 Combat : 99 Hits : 99 Attack : 99 Strength

97/99 Defence : 99 Fletching : 99 Woodcutting

at first i loved it! but as i went on and it became bigger and bigger then i slowly started hating it, and now i cant stand it! there was just too much of it from too many people who only liked it cause it was the "cool" thing to do. well all that really ruined it for me.

so i loved it, and now i despise it...i guess that what people will do though...

*sold his vote for pedro shirt*

I think its funny just has no plot napoleon is in that new movie the bench warmers as well
