With the new update, P2P RCers who craft laws, natures, deaths, basically any P2P rune, have been ruined.

 

 

 

In response to autoers:

 

 

 

We have therefore split rune essence to have 2 grades. Normal essence can only be used to make the six basic runes, whereas pure essence can be used to make any rune. You can mine both types of essence at the same place as before. The kind of essence you receive is automatically decided when you mine the rock. You will always get pure essence only if your mining is over 30 and you are on a members' world, otherwise you will get normal essence.

 

 

 

As a one-off event whilst we introduce this, existing essence in your bank and inventory will have been automatically converted to pure essence if you are a member or have other members-only items in your bank, provided you have level 30 mining or runecrafting.

 

 

 

Since free players can only craft the six basic runes anyway, the normal essence is just as good for its intended purpose of letting free players do low level rune crafting. However it is not so useful for selling to members who want to make law and nature runes (who we believe buy the vast majority of rune essence in Runescape) which should reduce its price significantly and make it a much less appealing proposition for real world traders.

 

 

 

The only people who should be significantly affected by this are players mining very large amounts of essence on free accounts purely to sell to members. There are better way of making money on high level free accounts anyway, so this change should only really affect players trying to making large amounts of money on a low level free account - which is of course the exact idea.

 

 

 

 

Most P2P RCers buy rune essence from F2P suppliers. What's your opinion?

I do beleive that we are going to have to accually mine our own ess now...because the p2p rune ess miners will take advantage of this and ruin it for the rest of us.

Erm... It's only 40 each on world 2... Thats what it was a few months ago... How is this ruined exactly, the autoers deflated, now that they got owned, it is back to normal... So what? :?

I was pondering this, I just buy off forums anyway, but a large amount of the essance DOES in fact, come from the autoers. Anyone who mines for this in P2P will take advantage of this, think back to the 15k player ban, and look at the prices of rares. Making this thread informs people and worries them, makes merchants happier, and doesn't help. Conclusion, your just helping ruin the runecrafting market.

it's not back to normal, it's worse than normal since I can't buy my essence from f2p suppliers anymore.

To those who say they can buy off forums and P2P worlds, most still buy in World 1/3 Varrock West Bank, for it is around 30-35gp rather than 40-50gp. I beleive 50% at least of P2P runecrafters buy their essence from F2P.

It cost me maybe 3mill to buy but if prices go up to 60ea+ ive saved myself another 3mill :)

Well this has left the doors open for a new scam - swapping the essence type when the player accepts.

having seen threads on forums "buying all rune ess" i have come to realise that the massive amounts of essence that there is left merchanters are buying that and then when demand of ess increases they will just shoot out with a price of say 80gp+ per ess. :roll:

I still don't get why people think that. It's not like natures directly depend on the price of essence. They've always had a set price, and the fact that runecrafting even exists just makes them drastically more common. What's it matter if a rune essence costs 50 or 60, even 100 gp when the crafter is still making PURE PROFIT? The only reason that natures would go up would be because of greed and manipulation on the forums from people linking the two together.

 

 

 

Basically the only reason that p2p'ers should complain is those who craft on world 66 laws. They lose a lot more money. Every other p2p crafter still makes huge profits.

I see why it was done, but in return... it isn't fair to those on f2p who were mining the essence in a legit manner.

 

 

 

Jagex claims that there are other ways of making better money...? I kind of disagree there. Mining essence on f2p and selling to p2pers was probably one of the best ways of making money. Only other thing that might make as much or more money is pking... And well some people are lovers, not fighters (lets be honest).

 

 

 

I felt that essence kind of connected p2pers with f2pers in a way that it benefitted both. F2pers would get paid an ok amount for the essence... P2pers would take those essence and make them into runes. Then they would either resell the runes or use them for their own personal use (which they profitted from).

 

 

 

Its sad to see macroers ruin the game for everyone.

Well, if the prices of the runes raise too, that won't be to bad I guess. I have 4k pure ess now (wish I had bought more, but didn't have any clue that this was gonna be thrown at us :P) Anywho... if prices raise, it might be a little easier to make money until I run outta ess again :P
