As for the motion sensor in the PS3, there were rumours of this back in 2003 (Before Revolution was even announced) and by no means is the Xbox 360 innovative, it just has a different shape. I just don't understand why people are hating the PS3 controller and not the Xbox 360.

If anything it's gone back a little with the removal of force feedback.

Blame that on the lawsuit. Microsoft payed their way out of it while Sony tried to fight it.

I know. Sooooooo much better. I didnt want a boomerang for a controller.

Wanna see it? Linkage

Its also got the PS symbol in the centre of the controller like the XBOX.

Ah Sony, where ripping off the competition a business model. So it's going to be wireless with a motion sensor. Golly. Breaking some new ground here! If only you could rip-off something like the Wii's price.

Btw, the Wii is said to sell for ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã290, not the estimated ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã500 for the PS3.

Edit:

Wouldn't it have been better to post this in the already existing E3 topic? :?

To pick up on sk8er's remarks, some info from our friend wikipedia:

On May 8, 2006, during their press conference, Sony announced that their PlayStation 3 game console would feature motion sensing functionality. However, the technologies work somewhat differently, as the PlayStation 3 controller does not utilize a positional sensor. Sony's announcement was made nearly eight months after Nintendo unveiled their controller. This was perceived by many observers as a copycat maneuver. It should be noted, however, that concepts and implementations of motion-sensing game controllers date back to before Nintendo's announced agreement with gyro sensor developer Gyration in 2001, or even Sony's EyeToy concept, which dates back to 2000. Around 1999, several gamepads featured tilt-sensing technology. One such device (though not the first) is the Microsoft Sidewinder Freestyle Pro, which was announced back in 1998.

For all the people hating the PS3 controller... Why?

It still has it's rigid design and lacks any ergonomical improvement, the controller just doesn't grip as well as it should (the 360's grip and button placement is much better)

And which did you use first?

Ill admit, im a PS fanboy. Playstations are a very...neutral machine. Microsoft have some of the PS games and some exclusive ones, Nintendo are full of Mario games and some exclusives. While Playstations tend to have the widest variety of games. (Im sure that made no sense ><;)

I really need to get myself the *playstation exclusive* '24: The Game'. ;)

Oh, it should be noted that the PS3 controllers motion sensing technology is "Tilt" based only, comparable only to the Wii's left hand control. The Wii's primary controller (the remote) is still the most powerful motion-sensing unit available so far.

Tsk, typical old Sony. Nintendo should have revealed their controller at E3. But I don't know why i'm complaining, i'll probably get the PS3 when Pro Evolution 6 comes out.

By the way, Nintendo's conference is on right now. Diddy Kong Racing is coming out on the DS!!

Actually, im looking forward to see how this is going to be implemented into many games. FPS will be kinda cool, MMORPG hand-held control? @_@

Nope, I saw something on the Tele about the PS3. They were playing Gran Turismo on it. So, no. They wouldn't be that mean. You can take your Forza ;).

The Gran Turismo series is developed by Polyphony Digital, and published by SCEA (sony). And no, Poly will not be moving to Xbox.

That's going downhill. Nintendo is gradually buying the rights back for Final Fantasy. Note the GBA remakes of the N-Gen FF games? Nintendo still owns half the series, and the Crystal Chronicles series. In addition, they have secured the rights to Final Fantasy tactics. Speculators say that in 5 years, Final Fantasy will be mainstreaming with Nintendo again.

That being said, the FF6 remake tech demo for the N64 beat the pants off of FF7 graphics-wise. The Final Fantasy team is regretting ditching Nintendo (because Nintendo stuck with cartridges) but now the playing field is even. Sony is losing the race, and Nintendo is winning back it's third-party developers.
