Guest AshKaYu
The book is fiction. It was placed in the fiction section at Chapters. Dan Brown said it was fiction. No one believes it is fact. The Bible, on the other hand, is the word of God. Over a third of the world believe that's true, and I don't think a millionth of the world thinks Dan Brown is God. Dan Brown wrote a nice, fiction book, comparable to other fiction books, but you can't compare it to the Bible because Dan Brown isn't writing a book to start a new religion, to make the world follow the word of God. How2PK
I liked the book. I had a good time while reading it. Maybe I'm easily entertained. That's fine with me. I don't need to read his other books BTW. I don't really like how there are thousands of books with a same theme as THE DA VINCI CODE now. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! Loge_05
Digital Fortress We follow Susan Fletcher as she attempts to break a code that a NASA code-breaking machine couldn't crack. She manages to solve this remarkably quickly. Umm... so... do you always misspell NSA as NASA? Never mind the fact that you misunderstood the entire book, from what I can tell (or just didn't actually read it). The spoiler someone else in this topic gave was much better than yours (albeit not entirely accurate either, at least it wasn't as skewed as this). Sorry for mixing myself up with. After typing NASA for Deception Point then I got caught onto it. Secondly, I provided a one sentence description of the book, then a comment. Not a spoiler. Offline and unavailable. We've only done it 20 times, put perhaps his time we'll actualy find something out! /hour later/ oh well, we didn't actualy do anything but tell everyone what happened in the Da Vinci Code with pictures! Maybe the 21 documentary will be better.

I read the book a short time after it was released and thought it was a good story, kept me entertained. I didn't really buy into all the controversy, just enjoyed the book for what it was - a fictional adventure. Kirk and Lars I could handle. At the same time. Guest GhostRanger
I recently read Deception Point and I happened to enjoy reading it because although people say he uses the same kind of 'plot' and cliffhangers in each one of his books, I still found it pretty exciting to read. Thing is, when I read books for fun, I try not to analyze and tear it apart too much. Deception Point was the last of the 4 that I read and I still really enjoyed it because it was still a good story.
assassin_696
To be honest i've found all Dan Brown's books pretty enjoyable cheap thrillers. Although after reading 4 of them it's pretty easy to work out who'll be the bad guy about 20 pages in. What i dislike about the books are the way he passes stuff that's blatantly rubbish off as fact. Not just in the Da Vinci code but in all the other books. Technologies are used that don't exist, or he uses technology and runs with them to the extent that they're no longer true. I wouldn't mind if he admitted that they were fiction, but at the begininning of each book he insists that it's all fact. Rubbish! Bubsa
His books are like airport trash gone large :P All I'll say is that it's a dark day when students start reading it as a set text for English literature. hohto
The more I've read him the less I've enjoyed. Once you've read your first book written by Brown, you can pretty much know what happens next in another book. Angels and Demons was the first one I read and it really surprised me at many places. Da Vinci Code or Digital fortress didn't have that thing anymore, it was easy to say what happens next because the cliffhangers and plot were almost identical. Deception Point was the last "brown" I read and for me it's the best one after Angels and Demons. Btw Da Vinci Code was one a real disappointment for me. It had sold a lot, everyone talked about it and stuff. Anyways, it didn't have really nothing to offer. Its writing wasn't that superior, far too many points you just can't believe and an old theory of Jesus' living relatives. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm

andyrules89
I read the books for pure entertainment. In my opinion, there isn't much "stuff" to the book, and I agree, its along the lines of Harry Potter, in which it is written for pure entertainment, and doesn't have some deep meaning behind the entire plot. dude i got pked and lost my full zezima

Guest GhostRanger
Well I just got back from seeing The Da Vinci code... pretty decent movie. A little too long for my taste (some parts could have been shortened) and not nearly as controversial as I thought it would be. Still controversial just by the nature of the plot, but not as bad as it could have been. I'd definitely recommend this one, but only when you're wide awake...unlike me. :P
