What kind of computer do you have?

I apologise if this has already been posted. I did a search and didn't find any other topics about this. The purpose of this topic is to describe the kind of computer you have as well as discuss whether or not you are happy with your current computer. My current computer is very slow and old. I have an AMD-K6 3D processor, 333 Mhz, 192 MB of RAM with a 6GB hard drive. Ever since I got this computer just over 2 years ago, I've always wanted a better computer. My parents are trying to save up for one but its taking a long time since they are low on money.

There's a lot of topics like this. But the addition of the "are you happy" bit makes it better than the rest - they're mainly "boast" factor threads.

Anyhow, I'm running a custom built...

Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939

AMD 64 3500+ 2.2ghz (939)

Seagte Barracuda 200GB (7200rpm)

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (128mb) w/ Zalman ZM80D-HP cooler

1.0GB Geil 400mhz RAM (2x512)

Packed into a Antec Sonata case.

8ms Samsung 17" TFT and generic logitech keyboard + mouse.

Overall I'm happy with it. I wouldn't mind more ram and anothe monitor.

But I'm a bit short of room for monitor and don't have the time to go buy more ram :x

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ (clocked at 2.5)

Gigabyte GA-K8NSC

Radeon x850 Pro AGP (flashed to XT with 16 pipes)

Xion II case

Logitech mx510 mouse

crappy Emachines keyboard

I'm happy with this computer. Although I would love to upgrade to 2gb of ram and maybe get a soundcard instaid of using onboard.

Yea, its not much, but it works. And I have no real reason to upgrade, and no money too either.

I'm not happy with my computer. I built it about a year and a half ago, I built it mainly as a budget computer so I could play HL2.

It only has 512 RAM, a crummy nvidia geforce 5700, and 2.8 ghz processor... I want a few more case fans, and a new keyboard (using some lame Dell keyboard atm.... long story) also have a 19 inch flat screen monitor which I hate... I would much rather have a CRT monitor, even if its a pain when going to LAN's

Well... first, my main machine

Aspire X-Plorer Mid-tower with 430W CoolerMaster PSU

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 939-pin

1GB DDR400

80GB 7200RPM

Nvidia 7800GT PCI-E

DVD +/-R DL Optical

Sceptre 19" 8ms LCD

Logitech X-530 5.1 and JBL 200-watt 2.0 = 7.1

and my server/secondary gaming comp:

Aspire X-QPack SFF with 420W Aspire PSU

Intel Pentium D 805 2.66Ghz O/C to 3.2Ghz with Spire Cooler

1GB DDR2

40GB 7200RPM and 250GB 7200RPM

ATI Radeon X800XT PCI-E

DVD+/- Optical

15" CRT and headphones, nothing to write home about

What's even more amazing is that both of those computers cost me roughly $2000, monitors included. It's amazing what you can scrounge together from others' free spare parts :D - The primary hard disk, JBL speakers, X800XT, DVD +/R drive and CRT on my server machine are all from various people that I know. I'm glad I'm so lucky. But I still bought everything else on that machine (~$450) myself, as well as everything on my main box (~$1600 including monitor), so I don't believe that I qualify as spoiled.

Intel Pentium 4 520 2.8Ghz CPU

ATI Radeon x300SE 128mb GPU

1.5GB of RAM

I'm happy with it for now, as it still runs good games. However, I think I'm gonna work extra hard this summer and get a new comp with:

Intel Core 2 Extreme processor (Duel core, running at I don't even know what yet, but it will be mad fast [if I can't get this, I will get a Duel Core Pentium D with 3.2Ghz)

2Gig of RAM (I may take a gig out of my comp above and put it in this...we'll have to see if that all works out, but 3gigs would be sick)

As for graphics, I'm looking at a Vista-ready to come out some time in the summer, and once I make sure it works well and is going to be great, I'll get it)

I want to play Crysis good.

Nothing special, just one below-average gaming computer.

Custum built ofcourse.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+

Mobo: Epox EP-9NPA+ Ultra

RAM: Hynix D43 512mb pc3200

GPU: Sapphire ATI Radeon x800GTO Lite (256mb/256bit/12pipe)

HDD1: Samsung HD160JJ 160gb SATA II

HDD2: Maxtor 20gb

PSU: 380W Coolermaster

Case: Compucase 6A21 black

CD-RW: LG 52x24x52

17" ViewSonic CRT display

Anyone here doing some oc'ing also? :)

As my cpu and graphics card aren't good overclockers, I have done more memory oc. So far my bst result is SuperPi 1m stable at 280 mhz (2,5-4-3-7-1T). I think its very good result for a cheap, low-end memory stick, which has default clocks at 200mhz (3-3-3-8-2T).

Due to the poor oc abilities of my graphics card and cpu, the 3DMark scorest aren't that good :P

And to the fans of Alienware. Its overkill, get something better for less money ;)

I have a Dell 8300, 3.2GHZ, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, 128MB ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, and a Dell 19" flat panel. I've had it for a bit and have never been disappointed. However, I will need portability soon and have recently become intrigued with Mackbook Pros and Boot Camp (partitioning the HD and installing Windows on the Mac and running it natively). I've always loved the Mac design but since I game and rely quite often on Windows software, I never purchased one. This may gave me an excuse to get one though. We'll see. :)

AMD Sempron 1.8Ghz processor with 512mb of ram, 80gp hdd, dvd-rw drive and cd-rw/DVD drive on a 17" flat panel CRT monitor, 64mb of shared video memory

Not the best.. but after my really nice one over-heated (no clue how this happened) and the motherboard fried I went cheap :P

I wanted to overclock my AMD but its locked :?

If you mean the multiplier, then there all locked :( (except for the FX series). Everybody overclocks by the FSB now.

Or maybe he thinks that he can get away with O/Cing with an OEM board from HP, Dell, etc. which really isn't the case.

I overclocked my old Emachines Athlon XP 3200+ computer. I got it from 2.2ghz to 2.4ghz.

Of course I flashed to 3rd party bios .

Not for the faint of heart - wrong EEPROM image, and you've toasted your computer.

Allow me to encourage that transition, for what it's worth. :P

I have an older iBook G4. 768mb ram, 30gig hard drive, airport...

Recently purchased myself a new Mac Mini though. I'm really loving it. 1.66ghz duo core processor. 1gig of ram, 100gig hard drive, built in airport and bluetooth - it's attached to an Envision 17 LCD display (previously used to dual screen my iBook) with an Apple wireless keyboard and Mighty Mouse attached.

I love it.
