This barrows stuff really is NOT paying off. Advice?

I've done 34 barrows trips, killing all brothers and finishing with a kill count of over 50 every single time. 4 (4) dose prayer pots per trip x 34 trips =136 prayer pots. 136 x 7k each = enough money to make me wish I SOLD those pots.

Can anyone tell me the odds of accquiring barrows item?

Am I messing up?

OR am I just unlucky? (Asks the person who lost 5m taking a shortcut north of Edgeville wearing valuable stuff, and met an ice barrager....)

if u posted ur relevant stats, it could be a little clearer on how things are screwing up, like how are you using 4X4 dose p pots a trip, i oonly use 1 or 2 doses a trip....

yeah, he's deffinetly a little excited...dont worry its not a glitch...d legs are meant to stretch in that area for that reason.

from what i can see, you do seem to pray all the way through all the brothers, which is not necessary. If you are prepared enough (stat and equip wise), Gunthan, Torag and Ahrim dont need any pots, just food if you get hit occassionally.

50 kills is too many, i only go for 20. I take 20-30 minutes per run.

The rumor about the speed that you complete a run is total bs. Taking in to account that I spent not days but WEEKS doing something else mid-run it would be impossible to have gotten an item (v skirt if I remember correctly). Don't spread rumors that you havn't a clue to their validity.

WAY too much prayer usage. If you are using that much prayer you need to totally revamp your gear and possibly increase your prayer level and/or mage level. Post some stats and gear if you want some specific help. :D

Well, assuming you're talking to me, did you actually read my post? I never said I was 100% sure of this claim...

I recall hearing somewhere (don't hold me to my word ) that someone said finding Barrow items depends on how fast you complete the barrow run, as well as the kill count - but, i'd still suggest killing less enemies less run twenty is good enough.

actually your calculations are incorrect.

you forgot runes and bolt racks. you have actually probably made an 100%-150% profit on runes compared to prayer pots total. when i did a simple 10 barrows runs i came out with 70k+ profit just from the runes.

Stats:

72 atk

72 str

70 def

63 mage

51 prayer

48 ranged... (Ouch, most of those pots go into ahrim killing.)

71 hits

And yes, I'm probably just unlucky.

I remember hearing that the chances of getting armor and weapons from barrows are rare. Kill count and speed and all that are non-factors in finding weapons/armor. I did hear however that kill count affects the quantity of runes, bolt racks. gold, and such. I also heard that killing all the Gaurdian's increases probability. How much of this is accurate i'm not sure but as far as i can tell its as close to accurate as possible.

I have better mage and range than you, but equal def/hits and i tend to take 3 pots and do two runs at a time, with leftovers :/ (i pray Dharok, Karil, Verac)

For a start i think 50 kills is a bad idea - the best way to mazamise your changes of getting a drop imo is to do as many runs as possible with your time. I also seem to remember hearing that KC doesnt affect the liklihood of a Barrows drop, but dont take that as gospel. I tend to aim for 10 kills.

Also, getting your range up 2 levels means massive improvements in the equip you can wear, which means you'll kill Ahrim faster and have better mage defence against him. Yew + full green is massively inferior to mage + full blue, and it shouldn't take too long to get those 2 levels.

I'll go for less kills then. And those two levels.

Once you get to 50 ranging, I can sell you full blue dhide. 20k cash.

I use slayer dart on Barrow runs. Only times I take my kill count higher than 30 is when I do it inadvertently while trying to make one of the brothers spawn in the northwestern room so I can use the safespot or when I wanna replenish my death and mind supply as it sometimes goes down lower than what I first brought. Good luck. I recently got 2 great axes in a row. But I do recall long periods when I never got anything.

However the kill count increases the chance of getting the better items from the chest, it is not recommended to have a kill count of 50+ or something. having a kill count of 10 or something will work just as well...

Barrows is purely luck, so just keep at it :)

Also I heard if you killed a lot of skeletons you'll have more chance to get a larger amount of death runes from the chest.

4 (4) ppots, are you atking with bronze dag or summet?

i max use 1 pot per trip, most of time just use 2 dose

try reading up on some guides

i usually make 20k profit per trip

i like to train in barrows as some, like the spiders aint that bad xp

so i get 50 - 100 count most of the time
