Hoopster211
And this is why i dont like Merchanters, they show off too much. Ooohh bought X at Y, ohhh bought X at Y again. Its not JUST this thread maker, its all merchants in general. This is why RS is so damn unfun now and days. All the prices are driven up by Merchanting choobs looking to make a quick buck. Go ahead, flame the hell out of me for posting this, frankly im just sick and tired of people posting blogs like this saying "Ohh look at me, i spent X cash at one time, ohhh you dont have that much now do you" Its pitiful and it disgraces me to no end at how unjust and unfun this game has become. And for those of you wanting TO flame me, atleast have a point, and one thatll make me bow my head to you. Otherwise you dont have one and you know what im saying is true. Ive worked hard for what ive done (most of it atleast) and seeing people like this spending X cash at a time just irks me to no end. Merchanting is harder than you may think. It's not like there's just a store set up in the Falador park that you can buy stuff and sell them immediately back for a higher price. It's just as hard as going up to those rune rocks and mining the ores, it's just as hard as going to that KBD and killing him for those nice drops. PostPosted: Tue May 30, 2006 4:22 am Post subject: rofl 2m in 2 days? or even a day... thats not a good day? ive had many many mils in a day from dag kings... 2m is nothing and it sounds like you did alot of walking around and world hopping to people.. IMO doing monster runs for high end items is the way to go... merchanting is too boring and so many noobs try it and jack prices up, can never find decent priced items. made 120m+ off dag kings in under a month... split between two people, but still thats 2m a day and i didnt evne do runs every day, didnt even do runs every week. Skipped almost 2 weeks in total of days... so merchanting will never appeal to me.. lots of bs and frustration for small profits at a time.. Id much rather kill a monster and get a 20m drop like kq, or a 4-5m drops constantly at dags (use to be? not sure on prices anymore) anyways, i guess nice merchanting? doesnt really take skills to buy an item and go sell it... Farming for items, and patience... far greater skill needed EDIT: 100th post First people were talking about how merchanting is easy and it's harder to gain levels and go do things like cut trees and kill monsters, then you come along and say it's the easiest thing, and you get high end items every trip, and 2M is something, if it wasn't, then you would bring 2M into the wild for traveling money. Just because you have your big 120M doesn't mean you can bash on me for my accomplishments. This is the opposite of what Arcticrunite said, first I'm a little show off wearing all the fancy items, and then I'm some little noob with a worthless 2M. Thats all fine and good, and those people can do that. I dont care about showing off, Cause ill be the first person to say hey look what i just found. but merchanters act like they are insanely godly to stand around and spam prices and sell stuff... thats not the point in any game... ive noticed most merchants are not that skill reliant, whats the point of playing the game and having the most money if you cant do anything? merchanting is pointless if your just collecting gold and never using it... whats the point? sit there and look nice WOOO! well worth hours of game time so that just you can stare at it.. You basically just said that all merchants spam noob prices, don't have any skills, and don't play in spirit of the game. In your view, merchanting is when you buy things at normal prices, and sell them extremely high, well it's not. It's when you study and look at the prices, make a prediction of when you think a certain item will go up, and you buy it at it's withdrawl. On the other hand, I have plenty of my skills leveled up, with 1349 overall level. I spend endless hours cutting that magic tree, I spend all those moments training at the shadow warriors, and I use my time to alch all of those longbows. I do exceed my goals in this game, and that's why I decide to move onto other things such as merchanting. [/bads]
Hoopster211
Also, thank you to ChewyShoe for explaining some of this to everyone else. He actually got me inspired to start merchanting and try to do what he can do. hehe, anyway, nice merchanting Was it though? I'm not convinced... Sure you got a good deal on the Santas buying for the price that you did. BUT other people were selling them for 12.5M and Santa's do regularly go for that price and occasionally more. so ok you made 500k, but you could have made an extra 1.2M if you'd have sold at market price of 12.5M. Further to this in your list of items that you sold the same is true: Full Rune sold for 180k - could have been sold for 200k (20k lost) Rune Scimmy sold for 20Ak - could have been sold for 25k (5k lost) 30K Airs sold for 450k (15ea) - could have been sold for 600k (150k lost) 100 Laws sold for 25k (250 ea) - could have been sold for 30k (5k lost) that's another 180k right there..... So total could have made an extra 1.4M.... Now I know that some might argue that it would have taken more time to sell at the top end of the price range - But surely that's what merchanters do??? There were a few reasons for this. For the law runes, it's difficult to find many people buying laws 300ea 100 at a time, so I decided it would be betetr to get rid of them quick. If you check the forums, World 1 Varrock, and World 2 Falador, almost no one buys air runes at 20GP each. Maybe if they need a specific amount and are willing to pay a larger price for it. And lastly, it would be better to sell the rune items at a loss of 25k then waiting there for 20 more minutes, with less knowledgable players offering 'corrupted items' (such as spinach rolls), and the many people scamming there. This kind of fits to "beggars can't be choosers." [/bads]

bobbaldrick
I enjoyed the story, gave me more of an insight into merchants. I dont know why people are flaming this, everyone on runescape spends there time differently - some goals are skill based and some are money based. No big deal that this guy prefers to merchant - I myself have not got the patience (or large amount of $) to merchant successfully.
