Great Merching Day =) (long read)

I made alot of money today :) :) :) After all this, It wasn't going so well, so I decided to post the good time. Ok it starts off like this:

 

 

 

Go into World 2, buy a Santa for 11.7M, buy another for 11.6M. I wait a few minutes, then all of a sudden people are like selling at 12.5M, lol. So I sell the first one at 12M, and the second one at 11.8M. 500k there :)

 

 

 

After that I log out and go to my normal world, and just sit by the bank. I'm browsing the forums looking to buy some easter eggs. So I get a seller for 3.3M, and he comes to my world, Fally. So after we trade, I see some random guy selling Yew longs (s) for 300 each, and yew longs (u) for 200 each. I run over and trade him, but he sells the strung ones to someone else. So I trade him again and I buy all of his Unstrung (2,272) for 200 each.

 

 

 

So I head back to the forums, planning to do something with the bows later. I buy another egg for 3.4M, and then later another one for 3.45M. So then I start reselling them on the forums. I get an early buyer for 3.6M, I head to world 69 fishing guild (can't get inside, lol). I sell it, go back to Seers, and switch back to my world. Then I get another post on the forums for my egg. She posts a whole bunch of items and cash, and I say no, like I usually do with items =P. So then I think about it, and start calculating all of the items out, turns out I'd get a little less than 4M for it.

 

 

 

So I post back on saying I'll sell it, and then we go meet in a F2P world, because apparently all of her cash and items are on her F2P account. While I'm walking to the bank, some level 19 starts calling me a noob, because I don't have anything wielded as my plate. So I just ignore him and go to the bank. I trade it for all of the items, and head off to World 1 to sell all the junk. I sold it like this:

 

 

 

10k Normal ess - 150k (to some level 3 autoer, lol)

 

92 Sapphires, 34 Emeralds, 15 Rubies, 9 Diamonds - 100k

 

Full Rune - 180k

 

Rune 2h- 35k

 

Rune Scimmy - 20k

 

4500 Fires, 2900 Airs - 74k

 

288 Yews - 72K

 

320 Coal - 48k

 

30K airs - 450K

 

Alched a Rune Skirt for 30k

 

300 Cosmics - 30k

 

42 Strength Pots - 42k

 

35 mith ores - 7K

 

40 Addy ores - 36K

 

100 laws - 25K

 

 

 

So... She gave me 2584k cash, and I got 1299k from the items. So in total I sold it for 3883K, almost 500k profit.

 

 

 

So then I finally decide to sell the yew longs (u). I get a buyer on the forums for 300 each. I go to his world Seers and sell him 2k for 600k. 200k Profit there. So then his other seller still has like 400 left, so I buy 400 (u) for 100k (240ea) and he also gives me 134 strings. I string all the ones I can and still have about 600 left unstrung. I start yelling out "buying strings 200ea". So some guy offers 700, I put up the 140k, thinking I can sell the rest later.

 

 

 

So after the trade, I open up my bank, I use the 1st bow on it, and look to my chatbox... 'Nothing interesting happens.' I bought flax by accident -.- So I go over by my seller again, and ask if I could have the extra 70k I gave him back. He starts screaming out that the trade is final and how I just made him rich, and then he starts calling me poor... So I whip out 27M from the bank and show it to him :) So then I ran to and from the spinner and eventually get all bow strings. I string the rest, buy some nats, and alch them all. So then in the middle of alching, some guy PM's me saying he'll buy the last egg for 3.6M. He comes to my world seers and we trade. 150k profit.

 

 

 

So all together in this day, I made a profit of about 1948K, or almost 2M. So now I'm planning to buy full Drag with a D2H =]

After I bought my Full Drag with 2h, I see some guy in varrock selling a D square. So I run up and offer the D2H, he quickly accepts, and I end up selling Full Drag for 28.1M :) I bought the D2H for 2.1M, and D Sq Shield is worth about 2.3-2.4M.

 

 

 

Before this whole merching Experience, I had about 25.8M, now I have 28.1M, so a 2.3M profit in 2 days :D .

And this is why i dont like Merchanters, they show off too much. Ooohh bought X at Y, ohhh bought X at Y again. Its not JUST this thread maker, its all merchants in general. This is why RS is so damn unfun now and days. All the prices are driven up by Merchanting choobs looking to make a quick buck.

And for those of you wanting TO flame me, atleast have a point, and one thatll make me bow my head to you. Otherwise you dont have one and you know what im saying is true. Ive worked hard for what ive done (most of it atleast) and seeing people like this spending X cash at a time just irks me to no end.

rofl 2m in 2 days? or even a day... thats not a good day? ive had many many mils in a day from dag kings... 2m is nothing and it sounds like you did alot of walking around and world hopping to people.. IMO doing monster runs for high end items is the way to go... merchanting is too boring and so many noobs try it and jack prices up, can never find decent priced items.

 

 

 

made 120m+ off dag kings in under a month... split between two people, but still thats 2m a day and i didnt evne do runs every day, didnt even do runs every week. Skipped almost 2 weeks in total of days... so merchanting will never appeal to me.. lots of bs and frustration for small profits at a time.. Id much rather kill a monster and get a 20m drop like kq, or a 4-5m drops constantly at dags (use to be? not sure on prices anymore)

 

 

 

anyways, i guess nice merchanting? doesnt really take skills to buy an item and go sell it... Farming for items, and patience... far greater skill needed

Yeah man totally agree, to continue on with the hatred I would just like to say that I hate anybody who posts barrow logs, monster drop logs and skill logs. Infact anybody who posts any log whatsoever sucks big time.

 

 

 

 

 

You've worked hard sure, but why is it that you said merchanters haven't worked hard? If you knew anything about the way a market economy works you would know the law of supply a demand, an item is worth as much as somebody is willing to pay for it. Trading in this game is a hassle, when you deal with a merchant you are paying for a convience. If you want a real life example, how about 7/11, they charge me like $2 for a chocolate bar, at a super market I can get one for $1. So why should I pay double the price? Well because 7/11 is open 24 hours a day and I might not want to wait 12 hours for the supermarket to open and for me to get get and eat my chocolate bar.

 

 

 

Also, since trading isn't automated (i.e, you can set up a stall buying iron ore for 100gp per unit) you are also paying merchanters for the time it takes to amass large amounts of goods.

 

 

 

Merchanters DO NOT, drive the price of goods up, they charge a fee for convience. If you don't want to pay the fee, then don't. If you complain about merchanters driving up prices (i.e, everybody pays 1000gp per rune ore, but merchanters pay 2000gp per, they drive up the price!) this is simply not true, they are obivously selling the good to somebody, somebody who ahs decided their time can be better spent doing skills and paying a service fee to the merchanter.

 

 

 

Sure merchanters show off, but so do skill levelers, runescape is filled with people showing off. If you are going to get angry about something, else be consistent and be angry at everybody who does it, not just a group of people.

I dont care about showing off, Cause ill be the first person to say hey look what i just found. but merchanters act like they are insanely godly to stand around and spam prices and sell stuff... thats not the point in any game... ive noticed most merchants are not that skill reliant, whats the point of playing the game and having the most money if you cant do anything? merchanting is pointless if your just collecting gold and never using it... whats the point? sit there and look nice WOOO! well worth hours of game time so that just you can stare at it..

The whole concept of MMORPG's and why they are so successful is that there is no end point, you can't beat the game. You set your own goals and then you try and acheive them. Who are you to say that your goal is more worthy than somebody elses? Obivously merchants get joy out of showing off their wares, or else they wouldn't do it. (They might do it to further themselves skill-wise, but apparently no merchants do this, hell they might even help their friends!) I mean personally I can't see how mining is enjoyable at all, but I have friends who practically have an ****** every time they mine and I respect that, just like they respect what I do. Compassion and seeing anothers point of view is a skill that it seems most people are still level 1 in.

ahh good old merchanting, the wholesalers of the rs community, not that good at it myself but love it because merchants over the last two days have given me very easy sales of 1 guthix plate, 2 sara kites, 3 lava b staves and 1 sara torn pages, for near street price... I LOVE YOU!!!

good point, but having other players in RuneScape was made to be a challenge, and lets face it. Whereever there is money there is merchanting, Virual OR real life.

Was it though? I'm not convinced... Sure you got a good deal on the Santas buying for the price that you did. BUT other people were selling them for 12.5M and Santa's do regularly go for that price and occasionally more. so ok you made 500k, but you could have made an extra 1.2M if you'd have sold at market price of 12.5M.

 

 

 

Further to this in your list of items that you sold the same is true:

 

 

 

Full Rune sold for 180k - could have been sold for 200k (20k lost)

 

Rune Scimmy sold for 20k - could have been sold for 25k (5k lost)

 

30K Airs sold for 450k (15ea) - could have been sold for 600k (150k lost)

 

100 Laws sold for 25k (250 ea) - could have been sold for 30k (5k lost)

 

 

 

that's another 180k right there..... So total could have made an extra 1.4M....

 

 

 

Now I know that some might argue that it would have taken more time to sell at the top end of the price range - But surely that's what merchanters do???

Nice profit! I wish I could merchant lol. The only thing I ever merchanted was a Berserker Helm for 50k and a Dragon Mace lol.
