~~~~ POHs and Dungeons: Planning in advance ~~~~
That's a rather dissappointing dungeon. And did you even take the time to read the note on the first post? The dungeon design for mine is optional. I'm not an idiot, I know there are only 20 rooms available. Read the note and stop posting snotty attacks on my design. I'm going to have to say that it is flat out better than yours. If you want to continue to bump my thread with your rude comments, be my guest. As for now, I'm done arguing with you. Good day.
To access the dungeon combat room, people will have to go through traps.... Why?
And the stairs and oubliette are so far apart, just connecting them will not allow for a decent treasure room.
Slightly tangent question... can you build a room over a garden?
A king sate on the rocky brow/Which looks o'er sea-born Salamis/And ships, by thousands, lay below,/And men in nations;--all were his!/He counted them at break of day--/And when the sun set where were they?
Tennis Ace- You can get into the dungeon by going down the stairs. But be aware that you won't have enough room for all of that design if you have 16 rooms above the ground. What you can do, however, is put the combat room south of the stairs if you want.
Zorkish- You CAN build a room over a garden. I DO NOT reccomend doing it. When standing in the garden, the room above you blocks your vies and you won't be able to see your character or anything.
I followed the plan exactly and my house is great! (Except I cant make a throne room or dungeon :oops: )
You'll get a throne room soon enough :)
Well when I have enough to get a decent construction level I am going to flatten my current one out (only worth 80k) and follow your design.
Yours is practical, cool and awesome. :wink:
Thanks. :D
good idea, i like the lay out and design. the problem with me is a money issue :-P
mysig11sv5.png
your design seems almost exactly like mine. i guess great minds think alike 8-) I sat and planned mine out about 2 days after POHs came out so don't say i stole your idea :wink:
P.S. this is my first tip.it post, id like to know how to post an img so i can show you my design :P
I posted something like this on another forum, and a friend sent me a link to this thread. Nice ideas, but what about those of us who can't afford tens of millions for our house? Now let me see if I can edit my post to fit the context here...
First of all, you have to understand that I don't really plan on getting higher construction than about level 55. I just don't see anything past that level that is worth the time or money (for me) to get. Yes, a dungeon would be nice, but I'm just not the kind of guy who would tend to have large groups of meleers in my house.
After reading the entire Runescape knowledge base and lots of advice, these are the founding thoughts behind the floorplan of my house:
1. I will get my construction level up to about 55 before building anything I plan to be permanent.
2. There are certain rooms that are absolutely necessary:
a. At least one garden (portal)
b. A Kitchen (food & supplies)
c. Dining room (bell pull)
d. Workshop (for leveling up construction)
e. 2 bedrooms (for the servant)
f. Quest Hall (glory ammy teleports)
h. Study (for making tele tablets)
i. Chapel (good prayer xp)
j. Portal Chamber
That makes 10 rooms, leaving me 10 rooms to choose as I please. Plenty for me!
3. Room placement is important. I want the most-used rooms to be nearest to the garden portal. For me, these will be the portal room, the workshop, the dining room (for the bell pull), and the chapel. I have come to realize that having a bell pull close to the workshop would be great for fetching the servant while power training, so the workshop is adjacent to the dining room. It is important to realize that the rooms only have doors in pre-set locations, and I have taken that into account with my room placement as well. The bedrooms, kitchen, and chapel all have doors at right angles to each other, so they fit nicely into corners. The garden and quest hall have doors on all four walls, so they are in the middle. My "play" rooms will all be upstairs, to help keep any gathering I have in one general area. This layout uses 18 rooms, I think. (Does the quest hall with stairs count as 2 rooms?) Either way, I can build 2 more rooms in the future if I want, and they can both go on the 2nd floor over the dining room and portal chamber. (3, really - I don't need a parlour on the second floor. It's just filling space.) No re-shuffling of rooms would be required, and the house would still look symmetrical. Also, if I ever get the level to build a throne room, I'll put it where the study currently is and move the study upstairs.
4. Lastly comes aesthetics. I didn't want rooms jutting out into nowhere or some abstract looking layout, I want something that if viewed in its entirety would look nice. (Wish I could build a deck on the second floor to overlook the gardens...) In the image below, the first floor is on the left and the second floor is on the right. The garden near the center of the house will be the one with the portal, the other will have a pond.
So, look it over and tell me what you think! I haven't yet spent the first dime (gp?) on anything permanent, so I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks!
DK Drops: 65 Rings, 9 Muds, 44 Axes, 8 Seers
Dragon Drops : 2 Chains, 2 Legs, 2 Skirts, 9 Meds, 6 Halves, 1 Spear, 20 Axes, 9 Boots
God Wars Drops : 3 B Hilts, 1 Z Hilt, 3 B Boots, 1 A Skirt, 1 A Chest, 4 B Tops, 1 B Tasset, 1 Steam, 7 Shards
This is gonna get people stuck in a corner, because you can't have 25 rooms.
They're gonna build their house this way, find out that they hit the 20 room max, and have to scramble and rebuild.
Folks, just remember there is a 20 room limit. Plan your house accordingly. :)
A circus in Runescape?? Oh my.
REMEMBER RUNESCAPE KARMA! Be a nice player, and nice things will come back to you.
I'm back, add me if you deleted me. :)
this looks great but say goodbye to your dungeon... the 20 room limit wont let u have that many...
In my house i slaughtered the parlor and saved some room that way..
Any other questions feel free to pm me...
I have 86 construction so i can probably help lol.
I am well aware that the dungeon design goes over the limit, if you had read the note in big bold under the dungeon pic, you would have known that. The dungeon is a seperate design, not part of my house design.
im loving the layout man
Don't like it, not good for gilded altar use. :notalk:
Are you kidding or something? The portal is right next to the chapel. All you have to do is walk over and open the door.
For the last time, read the note. It's in big bold letters genius.
EDIT: There, I have changed the first post due to the large amount of people who have just completly blown off reading anything and then complained that my design is over the limit. MY DESIGN IS ONLY THE HOUSE. The dungeon is a SEPERATE DESIGN.
It's a great design, i think I pm'd you once and told you I thought that. I planned out my house in advance and it's pretty nice, if a little different than yours (more gardens cuz I think they're teh pritties), almost max accoutrement for my level of 54.
But why do you keep bumping this?
