Not to sound harsh atall, but all of your signatures are fairly basic at the moment.

Though, saying that, I do like your fractal signatures (14-30). They are sort of random and unpredictable, but that have that styrographic charm.

What program are you using at the moment? GIMP? If you are, i'd really recommend either Paint.NET or Photoshop. From what i've seen, GIMP has a small majority of tools compared to Photoshop or Paint.NET.

Keep up the work, Ard. Don't be afraid to try new things. ;)

No worries cadburys_egg, I know I'm still a novice with this sort of graphic design.

My signatures have predominantly been made using GIMP and Apophysis. I also have Blender 3D, Paint.net, Terragen, Bryce 5 and Poser 5. I've yet to have make anything decent with any of those yet though. I recently found my old Photoshop 6 CD and installed it but lack the time/patience to re-remember how to do alll the things I can do in GIMP.

I love to play with new software and certainly want to try new things. It's really just a matter of having the time to focus on it.

I'm open to all advice, comments and tips.

If you need any tips on Photoshop just give me a PM.
As am I, feel free to PM me any graphics-related questions, i'm not as thick as I sound :P. I'm working on a few tutorials at the moment, which may intrest some people.

Thanks so much for the offer. I'm afraid I need more than tips and answers at this point. Though.

I'll be sure to get in touch when I know enough to ask an intelligent question.:anxious:

the hero sig is outstanding.

the words speak as you are drawn into the background

a very deep meaning

i love it my kind of sig

well done

Wow, thanks! I made that one on a whim since I like the show so much. I'm not big on television, so it's kind of fun. 8-)

Heheh, it doesn't even need to be intelligent. :P You could ask the radius of the pie I currently hold, not that you'd know I have a pie. But really, even if it's just a bit of jargon busting - not many people know that GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program. :P

As for tips, it seems as though most of your signatures are picture-based or just completely random (ergo, the fractals).

The best thing you can do is attempt to make a signature that isn't random and manually done (not necessarily with default brushes/settings etc.). Using gradients and setting them to overlay can get be a good start to creating flow and attracting the eye to particular places.

But if you want to improve using your current techniques, learn to use the contrast/brightness, curves, levels and colour balance. I say this because at the moment your images look very bleak and flat, increasing contrast (to a certain level) can help bring colours to life. Curves/levels do more complicated things and are harder to explain, but they are well worth learning.

Still, i'm always open for question answering. Happy . :)

It can be alot of things, the stock you used (although, doubtful). The type of file that you saved it as. Or the quality you used. I'd have to see one of your PSDs to figure out how to fix it.

But maybe adding a blur layer would help. And if it's too blurry then add a sharpen layer. (No, this will not get you back where you started, it will smoothen the sig)

Sweet, I see I'm not the only one that uses Apophysis :P

My sig has a Fractal I made in Apophysis, that program rocks.

Good work, and keep at it.

If you really want to excel in GFX Designing, I suggest getting Photoshop.

Good luck in the future =D
