Lol, if anything, 360 will either be 2nd or last this time. It offers nothing different to the first Xbox other than what? High definition and hard drives? Not so much of a next-gen. Xbox 360's weak sales now shows that there's no chance of it being #1.

http://money.cnn.com/2006/04/27/technol ... /index.htm

Xbox 360 had a year ahead of Wii or PS3 and yet they still only have sold3.2 million units? Xbox 360 was rushed, its major glitches are proof of that. Diagnosing problems, overheating, disc drive noise, etc.

What are Xbox 360 games? FPS and racing games re-made over and over so I don't understand why people would say Wii has [developmentally delayed]ed games.

The only 'must have' for Xbox 360 will be Halo 3, and that's not even out yet.

Oh and to note that PS2 is beating Xbox 360 in sales still shows that Xbox 360 isn't much of a contender this time around.

Why the [bleep] do you people constantly judge things before they're even out?

I can tell you WHY I think the PS3 is going to be great.

Innovation

The playstation 3 will be based on a PowerPC cell processor. This processor can calculate floating points (Which are more prevailant in consoles) about twice as fast as the processor in the Xbox 360, which runs at the same clock speed.

It will also be running on an open-source operating system, using a modification to OpenGL ES as it's rendering system. This allows them to let users develop 'homebrew' applications and games.

Etc

Free online play, great gfx card, desktop usability, etc

PS3 is too expensive for a console. Sony is trying to put too much into it.

Don't forget it's innovative controller!

(Yes, got that one in there! \')

Note: I'm not a fanboy and I know Nintendo hardly had patent on technology which has existed for years. I just thought I'd say it before some true fan boy did.

7900GT, if I remember correctly? Or was that un-finalised. If so then it is hardly great.

Haha. "Reality Synthesizer" - reminds me of "Emotion Engine", i.e. a load of poppycock, just a fancy sounding name.

Sony's main revenue is probably from TV's, VCR"s, DVD players and such. It amazes me that some people think Sony is some new company that just makes consoles. Go look at your TV once...What does it say? I know all mine say "Sony" on them. As do my VCR's and DVD players. Oh, and my sound system (house and car).

When it comes down to it, the PS3 is just too expensive. It is twice the price of other consoles just because it has Blue ray and some other little features on it - As if most people even know what that crap means. The majority of buyer's are kid's with rich parents.

Xbox will win this little "console" war. Why anyone else would think differently is beyond me. They stayed within the normal price range ($300) and still have great features. PS3's features are a little better, but for twice the price? No thanks. Wii is just too different. I think a lot of people are going to be confused by the controller and just skip it. I know when I look at the controler, my only thought is "What the hell?" That whole two-handed, seperated...thing...isn't working for me. Granted, I saw some video's of it in use and it was pretty nifty, but most people HAVEN'T seen it in use. How it respond's to you moving and all that, and you can use the controller in different ways depending on which game you're playing. Speaking of games...Wii's games (for the majority) are completely mentally challenged. Mario has been done 1,000 times (literally now? Pretty close..) now and it's being done again...Though I heard word of a Mario side-scroller, which would be cool, and the other games, save for like 2 I've seen so far, look like they are for children. Booooring. :P

hi tigra. i remember you :D, i still dont like you

im only an occasional gamer myself but even i know the difference between a bad console and a good console. 500 dollars is the opening price, alot of places were selling for that price when the xbox came out. the xbox was rushed and had too many bugs. why does it seem that the only people who still support the xbox over the ps3 and idiots who rely on rumors and dont go and read the specs. it will have better graphics hand down, you cant fight that because of blue-ray, blue-ray also allows more game play on a single disc

Inovation? Hardly. All sony is trying to do is beef up their system as much as possible. Anything that is 'inovative' on their system they stole from nintendo :).

ps: 7900GT isn't that great of a card. (atm it is, but it's going to get overshadowed QUICKLY)

@ nadril about the 7900GT

right on there...

SLIs are going to come into play real quick once the prices go down..

ps.

Sony never lives up to what they say..

if you look back in there history, and look at what they show at E3, for the ps, and ps2, they didnt look much like the final versions.

am i the only one that dosent care what the specifications are? aslong as they can play games i like i dont care which console has a better processor or graphics card.

but the PS3 at ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã450 for a console is just too much, plus when GTA was announced on the 360 at E3 i lost all meaning to get a PS3.

but the PS3 at ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã450 for a console is just too much

Ohh but remember it's a PC as well. And ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã450 is too cheap.

My car cost ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã450.

At least microsoft and nintendo actually come up with innovations...sony just takes them and pumps them into their ps.

The Wii (Sorry but it has to be the dumbest name ever...) is pretty much a long-range touch screen. You may aswell have to touch the screen and run the characters along. I fail to see how many games are going to work with that controller.

The majority of games will still use the standard joystick for movement

Or are you too much of a Sony / Xbox sackrider to understand that?

And take a trip down to an arcade, a lot of successful systems there use similar functionality, although not quite to the extreme that Nintendo has made available.

Uh, okay.

I'm not a so-called "fanboy". I have a PS2 currently. If the PS3 was in "normal" price range, I'd be buying one because I liked how they play better than the Xbox. If $500 is "normal", I'm the freakin' President of Candy-Land.

Playstation, when it came out, was less than $300 I believe.

PS2 was $300. You can't say it was $500 just because of the lack of systems they shipped, causing retailers to pawn them off for 50% more. I personally bought my PS2 the day it came out for $300.

Xbox was $300.

Gamecube was under $300.

Xbox 360 is $399 for the standard version and $499 for the uppity bigger harddrive, I believe.

Nintendo Wii is $250.

PS3 is an overteched, overpriced system. They put in a bunch of technology (Blue-ray is pretty damn expensive) that they could have done without, just to say "We did it." $500 for the STANDARD version. Reviewers and theorists are guessing that the PS3 will do worse than it's compeditor's JUST because of how expensive it is. You fail to realize the buying demographic isn't people who know 100% what all this technology means, it's teenagers with parents who have deep pockets. But if I know parents, most of them will see the jump in price and go "Umm, no."...I know my parents would be like "The last system we bought you was $300...This one is $600...You can do without."

The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past.

name one 'innovation' microsoft has made. if you are saying sony took the tilt option from nintendo then you are wrong. sony already had a near working product before nintendo even announced it officially 8-)

what sony 'innovated' was newer and better games with better quality and game play. something that never will exist on nintendo

You're giving the same attitude as people did with the DS' touchscreen. "Oh noes, it's new, it's never gonna work out."

Guess what, DS is destroying PSP in sales.

Nintendo has innovations? Never.

What do you call the Wii wand then? Copied from someone else?

I fail to see how many games are going to work with that controller.

Well you can't have seen the previews of the games they have had then such as Red Steel. Whats more it is blindingly obvious how the Wii wand will vastly improve the control systems for FPS on consoles.

...then surely there won't be much innovativity in the Wii...? If it will be a joystick like the other systems?

You need to know something about the control system before you start commenting on it, because you clearly don't know about it as it stands. The joystick goes in the left hand and then the wand goes in the right, both are used at once.

if you are saying sony took the tilt option from nintendo then you are wrong. sony already had a near working product before nintendo even announced it officially 8-)

Simply untrue. Sony had the banana shaped controllers initially and then pulled them to introduce the old-style controller with added tilt sensor. This was long after Nintendo had both announced and demonstrated the Wii wand. Sorry to see you've started posting in OT again; you're clearly as clueless as ever.

That is only a matter of opinion, an opinion which many disagree with.

How can you say sony 'inovated' new and better games. Realy, the only games sony make (which aren't even for their consoles) are PC MMORPG's. And common... how good are they at that?

SWG - Screwed over a great game by completly changing the gameplay.

Everquest II- Constantly nerfing classes with no thought at all.

Anyways, sony realy dosn't make the games for their system, they relay on third party companies to do that.

and, fyi, anyone can put together a bunch of the (almost top atm) hardware and call it the best system ever.

I still fail to see why (and how even) sony has better and more fun games, when it's all on what third party companies make for them. I will agree with you, yes, the Playstation 2 (and i'm sure 3) has/will have some great games on it. But realy all it is is a PC that you can just put the disk in and play. (same as the xbox 360 I think realy). The Wii (which, btw is one of the smartest name changes in console history. The advertisment they got for it was insane.) is actualy laying on inovative gameplay and to make it better, nintendo is ditching some of the stuff that made the gamecube a flop (in my eyes).

What i'm getting across is, is that for the price of the PS3 i'd much rather just keep a PC (untill it's price drops.. than maybe).

And like I said, 7900GT as a card, not great.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814150139

Card is already just 260$. When the PS3 is out i'm going to give a guess it's gunna be around 200$-220$. (price drops in august).

Also, an article I read in PC Gamer. Microsoft is going back to supporting the PC as the best gaming platform, and are realy shaping up gaming for it with vista. They are also working on a method of just droping in the CD and booting the game right up. (even though I'd stick to instalation :D)

I fail to see how many games are going to work with that controller.

I've already seen a zelda demo on how the controler works, and it's amazing. :)

What the hell does that mean? Would you not buy a car because it has 7 gears instead of 6, but are still fundamentally gears?

What the hell do you want from your new gears? Horsepower?

Wait time to play ps3 at e3 = 30 minutes

Wait time to play Wii at e3 = 4 hours

no more renting games? stuff that then i wont buy any games and just go x box 360ish
