Abnormalities in Mental Processes

Rilha

Recommended Posts

Anywho, I've noticed some oddities in some of my mental processes; namely, my memories, my dreams and my thoughts.

Most of my memories are in the third person; from my current age (16) down to the age of 10, I remember everything that I was actually involved in in the third person; from a point of view of standing on the sidelines. In things where I wasn't involved, I remember being me.

From the age of 10 on down, I remember everything in the third person, whether I was involved or not. I remember the sight of the back of my head very well.

When it comes to my thoughts, I always have at least one track going in writing, as opposed to the pseudo-auditory manner of thinking that I believe that most people make use of. People are always asking me why I stare off into space so often; it's because I'm 'reading' said thoughts.

At any given time, I have five or six thought-tracks going, most of them auditory, but the one is a bit of an anomaly. Also, I generally have at least one track going in French.

Also, my brain NEVER shuts up. I do have auditory thoughts, and they just don't stop. My mind goes and goes and goes. I can't stop thinking! I don't know how. This 'monkey mind' (as the Buddhists would say) is more than slightly overactive, disrupting my sleep and giving me headaches. I once had an EEG done (for a personality test done by seeing one's brain activity), and my brainwaves were through the roof. The people in charge were amazed. xD

Okay, the last one; my dreams.

Not long ago I was rudely awakened by my brother, and I did not understand a word that he was saying. I had just awoken from a dream, and in that dream, English was not being spoken. Neither was any language I know.

I was speaking what I've now dubbed 'Dreamish'. It sounds like some sort of mixture between Yiddish, Czech and Gaelic. I do not understand it when I am awake. o___o

So, do any of you have any abnormal mental processes? Why do you think mine are so strange?

Please, any opinions would be most welcome. xD

Lets see...

You seem to be experiencing Dejavu, out of body experiences, telephaty, attention deficit disorder, hyperactive brain patterns, visions and you're also speaking in tongues!

Were you sent by God? :-s

The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak.

In the event that the weighted companion cube does speak, the Enrichment Center urges you to disregard its advice.

Wait, so my brain isn't supposed to be thinking about several different things at once without any control of it? :-k

xD I think all brains do that.

However, the constantly babbling mind complete with headaches and insomnia is not normal. xD

The "Dreamish" speak you're talking about is actually pretty common. People talk in their sleep like that. I know my mom has told me I do and just the other day I saw my friend doing the same thing.

yeah, i myself had one of my "moments' last night.

Some of those things you described, such as 3rd person memories sound a bit like what some people with asperger's get, I think.

As for the dreamish, I take the point of view that everything you dream about is going on inside your head at the time but you aren't limited by your conscious/awake mind searching for meaning, and so you understand everything. I say I take that point of view, but I only came up with it 20 seconds ago.

I'm not entirely sure how I normally remember stuff, and it's hard to tell now because I'm trying to, and could think of things either way. I think it is a mix of 3rd and 1st person though, but the 3rd person view is still usually from behind me.

I quite frquently will experience dejavou or however you spell it....It occurs almost everyday, and i have started to get used to it, but it used to really freak me out... thats all I can think of right now..

EDIT: ooo i remebered somethin.. I can remeber insanely obscure things like what we were wearing when i went to the mountinas when i was 4, and random dreams, but i sometimes cannot remeber things that happened jsut days ago...it is quite annoying at times.

Your head does seem just a little messed up. I get deja-vu quite a bit same with the audible thought tracking, I have like an undercurrent of dialect going on between my brain and itself. Being inside my head is pretty fun to be honest.

To be honest, i really don't consider anything of what you said to be abnormal.

I have 3rd person memories.

I do have a bunch of lines of thought at once, and often mixed in slovak, english, and german.

And i do remember haveing a dream not too long ago, where when i tried to remember what was being talked about i had no idea what the hell was being said. So no, you are definately not abnormal.

Most of the things you said, are, i think, things that quite a few people experience, mabye not just all at once.

And you're probably more capable of doing certain things, then your "normal" person would be.

i always remembered almost every event in 3rd person in my youth. i also sometimes thought i had seen some things in my dream that happened weeks later. for example, i remember when i used to play rs i used to experience alot of deja vu on rs updates, and always thought i saw it in a dream :s kinda weird
