All his stories are set on "Discworld," which is a flat circular earth on the back of four elephants who in turn are standing on a turtle. I'm thinking maybe you all just got OWNED, and the website itself is a conspiracy. :P Nobody on there actually thinks the earth is flat. They're all Terry Pratchett fans (or similar) pretending to be flat earthers. :wink:

One of them on how things work and whatnot.. Terry Pratchett just utilized the theory in his work.

The time-zones are more or less arbitrary, based I beleive upon the cycle of the planet's rotation. So.. they could just as easily be based upon the rotation of the sun/moon "spotlights". . . or upon our "presumed" rotation.. Sorry. That was a worse argument than many of theirs. :)

July 17, 200619 yr I willing to bet that almost all the beilievers there are playing devils advocate. You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you."

If done correctly a 'fairly' convincing case can be made, although it collapses under scrutiny. But then such arguments can be brushed off and simplified, so simple answers can be use to rebate them. If the runway is curved it is because they designed it that way. Q: How does the atmosphere stay on the Earth? The earth is flat, it is not without mass. Q: Explain the Coriolis force? This force is created due to the temperature from the great outer ice wall and warmer temperatures of the center areas. This force is one of the main reasons which make people think the earth is round, it also means people avoid the great ice wall and are 'pushed' around to the other side of the world without seeing it. . Q: Why does the hull of a ship disappear over the horizon before the mast does? Due to the fact that the mist/dust is thicker closer to the sea, which results in the hull of the ship dissapearing first. The moon is made out of different shades of materials which make up the moon are darker then other parts, there is no man in the moon. It was to emphasise the point that they couldn;t answer them, yet still believed it anyway. It's just a contributing factor to thier overal dumness - it was meant to be a joke - seems to have gone right over both your heads.
