You all really need to back off of sligo hes just trying to help an idea out. He's usually pretty good at making good ideas and by the way, if you'd stop being lazy and yelling at him for his original post and read you would see that he said that his first idea was bad.

Ok, this random event idea REALLY wouldnt work. Im sorry to say it but its impossible to control and really annoying to everyone around you.

So youre saying that if you continue to say the same phrase, a random event guy appears and talks to you. If you ignore him, he continues to follow you around and yell the same phrase. If you are ignoring him, chances are you are still yelling the same phrase. So now instead of one person yelling out for free stuff, you have 2.

Also, if youre suggesting that talking to the guy would grant you a free sapphire, you would have people saying something like "dd" 10 times in a row, just to get a free sapphire. And just repeat that over and over again until they have a whole lot.

To my knowledge, jagex has no system in place to monitor everything someone says. Otherwise it would detect when people attempt to swear and automatically report them. Same with spamming.

My solution is this: Dont look rich. Wear robes. I personally have zammy and i wear it everywhere, but i deal with beggers. If a noob starts following me i call him a 'noobarnacle' and just ignore him

As "cute" as this idea is, I really don't think it will make any difference in the game at all. You think the people who stand around and beg paid any attention to what they saw on Tutorial Island?

But hey, if it keeps one person in a thousand from begging, then sure, why the heck not?

True. If they paid attention they'd know how to earn it themselves.

krogie, read the whole thread before posting a reply.

Sligo (who in case you didn't notice came up with the idea), has already admitted that it wouldn't work, and has been forced to repeat himself just because some people are too lazy to read the entire thread...

Here's an idea - create a new "random" event that occurs if you repeat the same phrase 4 or more times.

This random event will be as follows:

A ragged human will appear and will say your name, then the phrase you have been repeating over and over. If you ignore him, you will be teleported to Lumbridge and this guy will follow you, repeating the same thing over and over for 10 minutes. Even if you log out or teleport, he'll still follow you for 10 minutes of game time.

If you talk to him, he'll give you message about how being repetitive is annoying to other players. He'll ask you if you promise to never do it again, he'll give you a sapphire. If you don't promise, he'll do the following around thing to you.

Now, once you've promised to not do it again, and if you do it again, he'll reappear and tell you that you've broken a promise. He will steal the most valuable item (based on high-alch value) from you and proceed to annoy you for 10 minutes.

His words will show up in your chat window as if they were from a friend (i.e. transmitting to the friends chat). This way he doesn't clutter up people's chat windows. Also, his words will appear in a lighter yellow on the screen (a color unavailable via chat effects) so other players know to ignore him.

How's that?

- Sligo

Edit: You know, I'm thinking the teleport locations should be different.

The first offense, the teleport location is Lumbridge

The second offense, the teleport location is the south tip of Remmington

The third offense, the teleport location is the Zammy temple north of Falador

The fourth offense (and all there after) is a random location in the wilderness higher than level 30.

They'll just say:

free stuff plz

can some1 give me free stuff

give me free stuff pl0x

I need free stuff

Ill keep saying this if you dont give me free stuff

I want stuff!!!!

wont help, but its not like im against the idea, I just think it wount make a difference.

player: sellin 900k addy arrows

player: sellin 900k addy arrows

player: sellin 900k addy arrows

player: sellin 900k addy arrows

Teleported!!!

player: what just happened!!!!

player: oh no, there's five greater demons and 10 pkers!!

player dies

His life's work as a fletcher is gone forever

Or maybe we could just send them To "Beggars Isle" if they say anything related to "Free stuff please?" Then there they would have to make 1000 gp to get off the island :-k

That works too, I support the idea.

It's a good idea, but it wouldn't work, because there no way for the computer to tell the difference between a begger and somebody selling somthing. #-o

-.-;; Sorry for stomping on you idea, I thought it was funny, but it really would never work.

Now that is a good idea..except the money that they make shouldnt be real

The problem is that beggers never spam the same message, they talk to you - so it would be almost impossible to tell when someone is begging, program or no program

The only solution which will ever work is this. IGNORE THEM

I really love that idea, there are only two problems: 1. young people (the begger) are not really paying attention to it, when i first started i didnt pay attention very much too.

2. how about dutch young people, go to a dutch server and you thousands of players begging in english and having no clue at all what npc's say :S

But hey even if it would only stop one begger it's stil a good idea! :D

When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.

All skills 80+
