Beware the enclave

Featured Replies

Heads up thread.

Just had someone (mentioning no names here) try to lure me while killing blue dragons in the ogre enclave.

They ask for help with Recipe for Disaster and offer a glory for your help, then ask if you have plenty of prayer left and 50 Range. If you go along with it, they trade and put up a magic bow and some arrows, then accept trade.

Smelling a rat, I said I had no room so that they'd say "go to bank". While at the bank I took off all I had been wearing (d med, d legs, obby cape etc. which obviously made me a tempting target), while pm'ing them to assure them I would return, and returned to the enclave carrying just my anti-fire shield.

Needless to say the person in question immediately logged!

I know there's no such thing as a new lure, they are all just variations on a theme, but maybe a sticky could be started for people to post in when they succumb to / foil a lure, so that anyone who wishes to can read them to acquaint themselves with these peoples varying MO's.

Why is 'common sense' so named, when there is so little of it about?

They were gonna make you attack ogre Shamans.

If anyone remembers me... PM ME. having nostaligia issues D:

Nice find. I'll beware that. I personally only help friend/help people by chat.

what happens if u do attack the shamans?

They pretty much 3 hit you. I'll remember to look out for that scam. Its quite sad that people are luring outside of the wild.

i had that question too, tried it and lost rangers :(

they hit 30 all the way

also dont talk to them they hit 20 if you do

If you attack ogre shamans, they hit you for a huge number (I got hit for like 58 back when I had 60 hp), reducing you to very low hp. The scammer would make you spec the Shaman. Rapidly firing 2 arrows will result in a nearly dead you after the first arrow hits. Needless to say what the second would do.

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

That's bad....better watch out, people :ohnoes:

Now we'll have noobs infest the area while I'm trying to peacefully range blue dragons. Yay

I was there the other day and someone told me to kill the ogre. I think that he was doing it in bad faith.

Well the ogre shamen thing isn't exactly foolproof. I had some skulled person come into the enclave while I was ranging dragons, and they attacked a shamen and got hit for a couple of 30s, then they popped on protect from magic and they were fine. (DO'H :x)

Another time, though, I came into the enclave to find a cannon, still spinning, and a pile with a glory and rune helm in a neat little pile  Do NOT attempt to cannon the enclave dragons :shame:

Anyways, this seems to be just a variation of a stupid scam that people try all the time. The enclave shamen thing has been around for a long time, although I've never heard of someone giving you a bow and arrows to do it. Tricky, but still stupid.

Ugh, that reminds me...

I used to range there with cannon (The greaters) and it was great experience + drops. Then one day I go down and get hit by a 30, before I know what's happeneing I'm dead... Lost about 20k iron arrows, 5k cannon balls, Ranger boots, about 200 laws and worst of all my green p hat :/ All because Jagex didn't say they changed it...

Protect from magic works against shamans? :o

Nice to see good advice from people who have experience of this lure - BUT WHERE WERE THE WARNINGS GUYS ??? Who thinks my idea about a Luring Sticky is a good one? Cast your votes here.

I've had bad experiences there.

I lagged out while retrieving arrows and lost ranger boots when the blue respawned and fried me. Another time I accidentally attacked a shaman (mislicked, meant to attack a blue on the same square), and already had the special loaded. I happened to be at 60 hp, and got hit 2 30s and died before I could tele out.

And at higher hp, and being ready, I did try mage protect. It does NOT work against the shamen.
