Jagex and New game?

Previously written quests or storylines for RPG or novels

 

Good programming skills

 

Good creative writing skills and imaginative storyline ideas

Passion for games

 

Good communication skills, able to make part of a very exciting team

 

Also useful:

 

 

 

A computer science degree is a plus but not essential if good programming skills can be demonstrated

 

Anime, graphic novels and general sci-fi interest

 

Candidates must provide a CV with examples of previous creative work (either emailed or a website link).

It has got to be a new game, and I would imagine it is related to Runescape, Another RPG or Runescape 3 perhaps set in the future?

 

 

 

Funny how panicking people miss the most important post on the thread. Ever since years ago when this ambition to make a 'new game' was announced, there has been empasis that it will NOT be a medieval-type game, based in the future instead, hence it would be impossible for you to lose your stats (or convert them into the game, for that matter). You attack skill won't convert to 'laser shooting' skill, you'll have to work for it from scratch. 8-)

RS3? Why would they make RS3 after they've been doing all the graphic updating for RS2? Seriously... :? Anyways, my bet is that it's a new game...i'd be excited if it was like RS, totally new game to start playing :D it's actually be fun!

I can't see them going for RS3. There's only so much you can do with a browser-plugin game. They've stretched RuneScape pretty far already. JAGeX may well continue with MMORPGs, like a client form, but then, that wouldn't be RuneScape.

IF they did make a new game then unfortunatly, despite any efforts by Jagex, people will just sell their RS stuff in exchange for stuff on the new game to try to be the best. :(

I don't think RS3 will be coming out soon. Im quite happy with Rs at the moment and it is fun as it is. :) However, if they do make a new game, I think they'll try to expand beyond RuneScape and see how successful they are with a different type of game. Good luck to them and I hope it is another success.

Why would they update the graphics if they are making a whole new game? (Im not singling out you, I have seen a lot of posts with this comment.)

 

 

 

Well I can think of three reasons.

 

1. It needed to be updated.

 

2. Who said they were shutting down RuneScape?

 

3. To make people not suspect they are making a whole new game.

 

 

 

You people are probably getting this all wrong. They said a whole new game. This could mean RS3, new engine. Maybe they're even ditching Java. Hell, I'd at least try it out. And if someone says "der wunt be rs3 uz jajex aredy said no!1111" Couldn't that just be because they did't want everyone to get all jumpy?

 

 

 

I doubt that they would want the whole POH thing all over again. Oh, and at the Cambridge conference, RS will be in all different languages and they (Jagex) said that the new game is planned for release in early '07. I just hope that they make RS harder if it's RS3...

I second that. I believe they may try a whole new approach. Something they have not done before. Since in the job requests for making the new game has required a broad array of programming skills. It could be anything. I personally think they are going to take a client approach. They can't fit a much bigger game on a server to be running 24/7 off the web and over 80k people playing simontaniously(sp?) at the same time!
