Let us choose a race.

I think Jagex should allow us to select a race when we start. There are a lot of non-human npc's, so why not let us be a dwarf? An elf? Maybe even an ogre. Anyway, what do you think?

Ranger:

---150 bronze arrows

 

---Short bow

 

Mage:

 

---lvl 5 magic

 

---100 ( i think) air stike

 

---magic staff

 

Warrior:

 

---lvl 5,

 

---bronze long

 

---wooden shield

 

Adventurer (sp?):

 

--lvl 4 range

 

--lvl 4 magic

 

--lvl 4 attk,def,str,hp

 

--- some items: wc axe, pick, tinterbox - etc

 

Miner:

 

--pick

 

--lvl 5 mining + smithing

Not a bad idea, but what about the people who have played a long time? There needs to be a way to change race for old-timers, not just, how do I put this, "n00bi3s."

 

 

 

I just think we're all human in runescape, peirod. If you changed race, you would be shund from many major cities. For example.....

 

 

 

1. The Goblin race in prevented from entering Lumbridge (which really isn't enforced, just the "Unwritten rule" of the town)

 

 

 

2. The trolls and ogre (whatever one it is :P ) that lives south of the watchtower is prevented from going north watchtower. The same rule applies for the whichever races lives on the outskirts of Burthrope.

 

 

 

3. The elves do not pass the mountians that block them from the humans.

 

 

 

4. The dwarves are mostly shunned by people. Not compleatly, but enough. The closest dwarf to a city is the one who has the anvil north of falador.

 

 

 

This would cause people problems. It just wouldn't work.

In Runescape, the dominant race is Humans. Humans are the most flexible, and can do almost anything they like... take dwarves, they distrust magic to some degree. The Tzhaar are unlikely to wear armour. The monkeys are... well, monkeys... the trolls and ogres are stupid beyond comprehension.

 

 

 

The main thing is different races start in different places, and many start in members areas... since people are unlikely to become members the moment they join, they won't be able to choose those races anyway.

 

 

 

Unless the change comes from aspects of the game and not character creation, this would not work. And it doesn't feel right from the start anyway... doesn't feel like what Runescape should be, if you get my meaning...

Don't say that. WoW costs more than RS, about $20 PER MONTH and it's just for PLAYING THE GAME, not a PREMIUM thing.

 

I like the idea. Makes people more different than the others. I've seen a lot of people with the same hair or same clothes as me, but it wouldn't be common if RS had race selection.

it would have to be changed at that guy who can change u from guy to gel or u could change ur hairstyle so u would hav long ears and sure ogres might be idiotic but that doesnt mean theyd be hard just giv them the abilitie to not wear armor and only use maces warhammers battleaxes and such weapons that would require more str and much less dex like make scimmys only elf and 2h s only human and for dwarfs and gnomes u could just make a dwarf(or gnome) guy who would refit there armor for free u could also make like a BIG battle axe for dwarfs and maybe like a staff that makes certain spells like confuse and other ilussion spells completely free in this way u wouldnt need to make a character a certain race out right and it might costs like 100k to change ur race and restrict certain races to members like tzaar and ogre and trollsand ofcourse gnomes (ogres and trolls are of course different races) ud also need an ogre and troll guy to refit armor for guys that size and maybe not every body would take elfen if we gave it som drawbacks like a weaker body( meaning smalller hp)also theyd hav smaller str but much more accuracy u might make longbows only elfish and add the rapier to weapons but make it elfen also they should make black makable like using a special potion u get from the witch on 3 coal ores during the smelting process to make 2 bars but some races would just be idiotic like wraiths and demons but maybe being half dragon but u might need to wear dhide while paying the wizard like 200k that would hav to be members for any dragon hide thats not green or maybe u could get dhide changed by the guy so that when u wear it u turn into a dragon but u need enchanted dragon stones for firebreat and enchanted onyx for claws but this coulb be added to the armor during the process of changing it by the way i havnt typed this much since last year your idea has inspired me and u could prolly make 2h s enchantable to keep som ppl human hack maybe the wizard would only sell u a crystal ring that chaned u into a race just like the easter egg ring but u could fight and do all that but the racial ring would always be there like ud start out with a human ring for free and u couldnt take i off without becoming a writhing mass of runematter(thus dying and reurecting as a human) this would the require an entire set of dhide to make the ring or maybe make it like a 2h and so u can wear it like a pl8 but u cant wear leggings or helms or weps or shelds then the onyx and dragonstone would eqip like sword and shield though of course u would haf to be a kinda small dragon compared to elvarg or kbd u might also hav to be a small ogre or troll to make it more practical but that dont matter. sorry for those of you who wer ofended by my grammar and if u took the time to read this i thank u IMMENSLY :!:

in brief. no. First off, i think pretty much all of the quests have to do with that you are human. If you were a dwarf, why would u have to go through the pains of all the dwarf quests. It's not a bad idea, but I doubt it would fly very far. In Runescape, it's a world of us humans among the other mysterious races you find here and there. There would have to be alot of major changes in the entire Runescape system to include the selection of your own race.
