moopymitchell182
Why have one banner when you can have three? :P Thanks wurmskin and zxyiz! :D NOTE: This guide is not complete yet, as I need to head to bed pretty soon. It is still under construction, and I will most likely finish it within the next few days. More things will be explained and explained, so don't judge it just yet. moopymitchell182's Guide to Killing Blue Dragons Table of Contents 1) Introduction 2) Why? 3) Requirements 4) Equipment 5) Getting There 6) Setting Up and Killing Them Section 1: Introduction Ahoy! I'm Moopy_M, and this is my first guide. This guide will teach you how to slay blue dragons for profit/exp. Note that this (atm) is only for one spot, but IMO it's the best spot in the game, if you do what's recommended. I don't have anything more to say really, so on to the good stuff! Section 2: Why? Now, you're probably wondering why you would want to kill Blue Dragons. Most people kill them for money or exp. I kill them for money and exp. Drops These have a 100% drop of blue dragonhides and dragon bones. These two items are the money-makers. One blue dragonhide can fetch a whopping 1.8k-2.3k. One dragon bone can fetch 2k-2.8k. This is 3.8k-5.1k a kill. Not bad, considering the method used can take around 30 seconds max to take one of these mothers out. Even if you craft the hides, your possible profit is still 1.8k-4.6k. Keep in mind you can get more money if you sell them in bulks of 1k or more, and you will get more money for the hides if you tan them first. These beasts also have a fairly decent drop list. For "normal" drops, we have 75 water runes, 15/30 natures, adamant ore, herbs, and coins. The coins they drop will pay for the tanning of the hides, so always pick them up. Then there's the more uncommon drops, which are good to alch. These items are rune daggers, mithril kiteshields, addy full helms, mithril spears, mithril axes and rune full helms. Then there's the rare items. These are level 3 clues, half keys, dragon spears, dragon meds, and dragon left halfs.. Their entire drop list can be found here. The high-alch prices for blue dragonhide pieces are as followed: Vambraces (1 Hide, level 66 required) - 1,800gp. Which comes to 1,800gp per hide. Chaps (2 Hides, level 68 required) - 2,592gp, which comes to 1,296gp per hide. Body (3 Hides, level 71 required) - 5,616gp, which comes to 1,872gp per hide. Note the above are the price per hide if you mined your essence and crafted your own nat, which is the best way to do it. Now, obviously, making bodies is the most efficient. They come out at the most profit per hide, and there's only 1 nature rune used for 3 hides. This also means there's a faster craft time, as it uses up three hides, as opposed to 2 or 3. If you don't have 71 crafting, do vambraces. Even if you have level 68, you'll make more money doing the vambraces. Though if you're willing to sacrafice some profit to save some time, do chaps. Experience points per dragon Blue Dragons have 107hp. This means you can get from 214xp (if the cannon does all the damage) to 428xp (if you deal all the damage with your bow). Ranged exp means you'll get some ammount of hp exp, which will be somewhere from 0-142, depending on your cannon damage/bow damage ratio. You get 288xp per dragon bone you ecto, and you get 252xp for each dragon bone you do at a gilded altar. Since it's just a small 33xp difference, I would reccomend that you use an altar--if you have access to one. Using an altar is a hell of a lot faster, but you do need marrentill to get the max exp out of it. You get 70xp per hide hide crafted. It doesn't matter if you make vambraces or bodies, you will still get 70xp per hide. If you are crafting and alchies hides, then you'll get some magic exp out of it. One high alch gives 65 experience, so that's a max of 65 experience per dragon killed. If you do bodies however, you're using 3 hides in one alch, so that would put it at 21̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¦Ã¢â∠
wurmskin
Nice guide. I can't really give any suggestions or anything like that as the only thing I know about Blue Dragons is: find a safespot, kill, pick up loot, repeat :) . But I did make you a banner for your guide title though  . http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/4914/moopymbanneriq9.png Once again, good job... I eagerly await for the rest to be written :P . ^ Refresh for a new signature ^

drapit
There is a blue dragon den in the member's dungeon and range is not necessary to defeat blue dragons.... Halberds or maging can be used...
moopymitchell182
For now I'm just going to put this the way I do it. I suppose I should edit the title to say ranging... I know the cannon isn't exactly vital, but if I can speed up the process and still make money, that's what I'm going to do. Plus it's fun to see high numbers. \ And Wurmskin, thanks for the banner. :D
m4tty
nice guide, theres also afew blue dragons in the dungeon used in the watchtower quest, i like killing 2 spawns at once on worlds with noone else there so i never have to wait, you cant cannon there, though, or the ogre shamans eat you alive. You don't need to do dragon slayer to wear blue -> black d'hide bodys, only green. : Some one beat me to it....but you still need d slayer to kill that dragon as you need heros quest which requires d slayer. great guide! I shall take my flock underneath my own wing, and kick them right the [bleep] out of the tree. If they were meant to fly, they won't break their necks on the concrete. So, what is 1.111... equal to?10/9. Please don't continue.

Juanflores
actually its pretty well done even if its not completed yet but i do think you should add the other two places somebody could range them at (taverly, watchtower area) and yeah their very good xp and money xD barrows drops-my first ahrims top

twr_phr33k
I would just like to add a little something: For the Equipment section.. Barrow(dark) gloves are A LOT better than blk vambs, even when it comes to mage. Barrow glove is the best pair in the game. Your decision though.. because you have to complete RfD to buy/wear them. zxyiz
Oh! I made some banners too! I'm a bit late but here they are. If you were looking for a grungier look then... You can use these or stick with that other great one you have. I don't care, I make these for fun. :D Also even if you stick with your current banner you might want to center it. Cbkviper
The one thing so far that I don't like about this is that it only covers the heros guild. Since there's only one dragon there, its usually a battle on who can cast mage the fastest. Those who don't have a fast internet connection or computer will probably be better off using the ogre enclave, or maybe even taverly. I don't know if you're going to cover that when you update it, but adding that would make it much better. Other than that, very nice guide. mmmchips1
Do people really need a guide for ranging blue dragons? I mean, it's not really that hard. None the less, it's a good guide. There is some useful information in there, you've clearly put a lot of effort into it. 9/
