abhinav_g90
work on the anatomy a lil, its wrong even for a cartoon-ish pixel and another thing, dont use anti-aliasing from photoshop and when i zoom in, i see that most of ur color is going out of the lines u shud be using the fill tool of photoshop make the lineart before u add the colors and u need to clean the lineart as well for example this shud be this note that handle of sword is not 100% black a lil before black just look at the linework of the bodys outer part as far as i can guess, ur using something like photoshop to make pixels thats like using a sword to stitch clothes ( wow i hav become a poet :P ) anyway zooming in, i can guess that u have first used a brush to color the place where the face will be then used a soft brush to make the face's linework then u found ur mistake and used a hard edged pencil to make the rest of the body i suggest u look around the net for some tuts on pixel and make sure u check This One by terley ps : image hosting by
terley
^^yeah thats an awesome tutorial right there =P~ I think this needs a bit more character, try steer clear from generic round heads, clean up your lines and just keep tweaking it until it looks the way you want it. Theres nothing really wrong with the proportions, it's a cartoon character so I shouldn't expect dead-on human proportions for this.. I've got something like this in mind. :-k lol
chaostayoko
God damit Terley, you uberfied it, lol. I live the purplelish/red you used. how do you think of the colors you use?
terley
well I see colour as, lighter = warmer (your red's orange yellows) darker goes through purple to blue. To get from the warm skin colour to black you just move through the colour spectrum. this illustrates it well I think.
chaostayoko
so you kinda stay one one side of a color weel? like this:
terley
no I don't I guess I explained it wrong, depending on the colour you've chosen, to darken it you move through the spectrum towards blue (blue indicates cold, dark) and if you want to lighten a colour move closer to yellow (which indicates light - warm). In this example below shows what I mean. Instead of simply lightening and darking a colour like usual, using the spectrum combined adds so much more to your colouring. may not be the best example becuase I just did this really quickly but I hope you get what I mean. chaostayoko
oh ok, I understand now. Simple: instead of using the same color to shade>>>> To make it darker...move towards the blues, to get brighter move to the yellows.
