Freesia
Smithing is still used for knives, one of the most popular ranged weapons in runescape, and cballs of course. Lack of use to make weapons and armor won't kill smithing Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(. Mukkor
Maybe a medium level smithing is required to make an armour/weapon, but needs a very-hard-to-obtain item(s) to make it with? :-k *cough* d square *cough* 5 Fight Caves attempts:0-1 to Jad0-4 to Lag
malo2
I agree, too many things now days are non-player made, like drops, shops, or quest rewards. I think were starting to move away from relying on other players, and to relying on npcs, which isn't what runescape is supposed to be about. How about being able to smith cannons, or at least being able to upgrade them, which will also increase the production of of cannonballs. Kenshinjapan
Won't happen because smithing already maxes out with stuff to do at 99 and can't go any higher. :-X YOU! ATTEND TET EVENTS! CLICK HERE!

Sharane
Changing level requirements of certain skills has already been done (protection from melee for one) there IS a chance levels being lowered slightly to fit an extra item or cramp the current ones so you can add more. Look at construction; you get several new things to make on each level. "300 programmers make their futile but glorious last stand against 1000000 angry players in The battle of Misthalin. They fight for honor, glory and new content sacrificing themselves so that their game may live on. This is Madness! This Is JAGEEEX!"
gift_of_flab
I agree with you. We do need more unique smithable items. Then 2H/bow things in that quest would be a good start. If we could smith and use them then that would be brilliant. Even though I agree completly, do you know how many people would complain. People complained that the requirements for the warriors guild were too high and should be lowered to suit their needs. People don't want to train, they want everything handed to them on a platter. Although, can you imagine the RSB rants :D .

Brinner
ya i think the next biggest update (if player owned stalls dont come out) would be player owned weapon making.... example you can make the blade a different style to go towards defence, attack or strength and make a hilt of some type of wood then you can probably give bonus points to a certain attack style... rune0nite
What about being able to upgrade rune weapons like how barrows weapons where they degrade but the only way to resharpen them or something would be to have the smithing lvl plus a rune bar or something. Just an average player with a horrible name...

Hunter2007
Smithing is dead. Cannonballs are still made but it is boring, I mean yes it does help with mining aswell as you can mine and smith BUT you just make up to rune and that is boring!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, they shudnt make d wepons smithable because! everyone who had 99 smithing wud be able to get it. What else would you get dragon bars from? Dragons of course!! But making them, mining the ore, It would be guarded by something but it could be taken out easily. In my opinion, dragon shud stay rare. You will all suffer under the power of my ranged, 18!!! Soon to be 99! Hope you can help by errr, helping me.
