November 27, 200619 yr What do you advice that my steel-axe-wielding level 18 character do to avoid a higher level rune-axe-wielding character from stealing all of the iron? I'm a F2P, so Varrok-East mines is the most feasible spot. Unfortunately, the iron ores are almost always occupied by a high level. Even if the world has 400~ people, there's usually at least one person who hogs it, and insults me if I ever try to reason with him to share. Do parents not teach the concept of sharing anymore? :x
November 27, 200619 yr Train on Copper, Tin and Clay for a while until you can use at least Adamant. Either that or look for some unknown spot to mine it... don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat
November 27, 200619 yr You need to just keep on training and raising your mining level. That person that has a higher lvl than you was once your level and just kept on training. Quit whining about hogs. That person is there for the same reason you're there. To get ores. switching worlds until you find one where you're by yourself always helps or go to a different mining spot.
November 27, 200619 yr Try Rimmington and Varrock SouthWest Mines. There's usually at least a couple of worlds here and there where you can get all the iron to yourself. :) Also try Al-Kharid Chasm Mine... If nothing else, there's like 7 to 9 Iron spots there. :) Hope that helps. :) ~Mr. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)
November 27, 200619 yr world hop to empty worlds or play at off-times: weekdays when people at school or work whenever possible. Geaux Tigers ! Congrats on a great year !
November 27, 200619 yr Author world hop to empty worlds or play at off-times: weekdays when people at school or work whenever possible. I only mine at about 3 in the morning, US time. And still, there's always someone, always, always someone who is too arrogant to share.

Do parents not teach the concept of sharing anymore? :x Unfortunatly sharing seems to be a less known concept then it used to be. Belive me I've encountered this as well. And it may be just me but it seems to have gotten worse since the new skill came out, no clue why though. Anyway here is Tip.It's list of mining maps. It has both p2p and f2p maps so it may help you in finding a less used mining spot. Hope it helps

And still, there's always someone, always, always someone who is too arrogant to share. Good mining locations, like Varrock east, are considered good for a reason and that's why it is mostly occupied. Try other locations and world hop. Anyways, I don't understand why people with higher levels should inconvenience themselves for a lower level, its not like they created their characters with those levels, they had to train just like you're gonna have to. I know when I was a lower level no high levels went out of there way to let me get ores, or logs or whatever. I know its not very nice but when you need something to complete a goal you don't want to unnecessarily slow yourself down. Check out my Pocket Slot idea!
November 27, 200619 yr world hop or something. i'm one of those rune pickers and all of us runer pickers went through this. and don't complain to them, just pisses them off more. i know me and my buddies just LOVE to take the iron of the people that say "my rock" or "share".

And still, there's always someone, always, always someone who is too arrogant to share. I would hardly call it arrogance. On their part anyway. That person is training, and they no doubt had to train hard to get to where they are (mining is brutal training, as far as I'm concerned, at higher levels). With each new level, it's going to take even more work for them to level up. To go from 75 to 76 mining will require almost 3.2K iron ore mined. Even under the best of conditions, this could take about 3 hours of powermining. And you want these people to make that 5-6 hours? Just so lower-levels can spend 10 seconds on an iron rock for one iron ore? You seem far more arrogant than the higher level miner, expecting everyone to slow down their training to accomodate your impatience. Mining is uber-competitive. The sooner you reconcile yourself to that fact, and go mine Rune Essence until level 41 or so (and your Rune Pickaxe), the better off you'll be. I have a second account, and he mines Rune Essence. Slowly, grudgingly, but it's the way to go.

Slowly, grudgingly, but it's the way to go. I totally agree with you, 100%. I have 66 mining, although it's rather low, mining is so slow to train on F2P, with or without runners. When someone else comes to mine with me, I continue to mine, and almost always beat them to every rock. Any experienced miner with tell you that once you get 55+, you one-hit iron every time. Why then, should I let you get iron simply because you are a slower clicker? Obviously, it's not my fault because the other person can't click as fast as me. In my opinion, mining is pwoering iron is actually based on skill, not on dumb luck. I'm sorry to say, I have no sympathy for you. Currently: Skilling
November 28, 200619 yr Poor guy. But I doubt that when u get to levels 60+ and are trying to gain a level or two you'ld share or even let a low level mine with u? Consider the higher level who won't let u mine, it took him probably more than weeks to get to that level and u just want him to give u a chance to mine in the same place he is mining. The only suggestion I can give u is to do what some of us have done to level our mining without getting a mining area hogged by a high level miner. First suggestion just change worlds until you find a world without anyone there. Second suggestion find a different mining site. Third suggestion mine somehting else. Fourth suggestion if none of my first three suggestions work out stop mining coz your one unllucky dude and do something else.
November 28, 200619 yr I got myself up to 50 mining on F2P, fighting with people for iron and coal on the busy worlds.... It's not that hard. I have to agree with everyone else on this one... Switch worlds or deal with it. If you really want to get it up fast, the busy worlds do spawn ore faster, and believe it or not, the more obscure mining spots can still be empty. The trick is to find those spots.
November 28, 200619 yr I'm lvl 71 mining now, and I share (unless the other person starts off by being rude to me). Even the gem rocks in Shilo Village. Mining is not exactly a thrilling pastime, and usually if you share with someone you can get a good conversation going, which makes it a more pleasant experience. I also share because I remember the frustration of being lower lvl and never being able to get any ore. To me, people are more important than xp points, but I guess I'm just odd that way :)
November 28, 200619 yr "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade". If you mine and smith, your smithing will lag your mining, so if a powerminer is dropping (as well as hogging - and you can't hog a spot for more than 28 unless you ARE dropping), then scrape up a load and run it to the bank.

I also share because I remember the frustration of being lower lvl and never being able to get any ore. To me, people are more important than xp points, but I guess I'm just odd that way :) The one thing I'd point out is that if I'm at the Shilo Gem mines with someone, or I'm mining slower mid-to-higher level ores, I generally do try to work out some kind of sharing. But that's usually because the other person and I are probably at a similar mining level, and competing for the same rock is usually silly, and slows things down. The folks 70+ are gonna go for Addy somewhere, those able to mine Runite are probably doing so. Very few people with levels significantly higher than mine are bothering with Gold, Silver or Mith (my ores of choice). They're either power-mining Iron, or going after the better ores. If there are two of us competing for mid-level ores somewhere, the best way to go is usually something of mutual benefit, since neither one of us is going to kick the other's backside. But if we can't work something out, one of us usually sucks it up and leaves. That's mining. So if a level 70 is power-mining iron somewhere, the level 18 has to suck it up. If I decide to power-mine (and I'm waaay too cheap to do it), I'm not slowing down for anyone. That being said, since I'm P2P, I almost never have to worry much about competition when I do decide to mine. I may have to world-hop a few times, but I usually can mine for hours with little stress.
November 29, 200619 yr "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade". If you mine and smith, your smithing will lag your mining, so if a [Forbidden] is dropping (as well as hogging - and you can't hog a spot for more than 28 unless you ARE dropping), then scrape up a load and run it to the bank. I'm confused because Tip.It bleeped something with a "[Forbidden]" tag. :? Were you talking about a "drop-miner" or a "macroer"? :| ~Mr. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... November 29, 200619 yr It seems we can't say [Forbidden], power miner without a space in? November 29, 200619 yr When i powermine in varrock east mine, there's always noobs say: "stop hogging", "stop doing that", or "we lower level people have to work hard for money, so get out of here, you high level noob". Everybody started at a low mining level and they all slowly leveled up, even with high level there. And if you can't mine iron faster than someone else, stop mining it. Don't go around complaining and go mine something else. When you get a high mining level, you can mine the iron yourself.
November 29, 200619 yr If you just want to power-mine to get your lvl up, I would go to the north end of the dwarf mine under falador. Not many people were there when I was f2p 94 mage106/100 combat67/70 prayer52 Barrow drops249/249 QP
November 29, 200619 yr This sounds like a rant. Because i don't know a way to help you change other people, form hogging. I need the ore to level as much as you do. I need more of it though. So why would i waste my high mining level, and slow down my training. Read the announcement section some times. I thought they had a topic that said they were now making a censor on the forum. I can't find the topic so i am not sure.
November 30, 200619 yr i have a lvl 4 mining pure with 37 mining, the best place is rimmington mine usually, just mine the iron there and bank or drop till rune. Click for mah Blog!- I'm not sure why you would though because i never update it Achieved 99 Thieving 3/10/07-992nd to it
November 30, 200619 yr so he's a hog because he wants iron also? he mines more he should get more.... best advice i can give is either ask him to share or quit whining and switch Your name is "bet you fail", and you're starting a business with your mom? I'm not even going to touch that.....
November 30, 200619 yr There is no way you can get iron of a hungry high level miner. For that just get 40 mining and you will be same speed as him with a rune pick axe.
