1.0. Intro into Plank Making

Are you sick of paying those high prices for planks, or taking that extremely long walk to the sawmill? Well, I was and came up with this guide. If you are new to the construction skill, I advise you to check out the skill guide on Tip.It. It took me a few days to get to 66 Hunter to try this full balloon concept out.

2.0. Requirements

For Teak/Mahogany Logs:

An Enlightened Journey

Rings of Dueling

For Oak Logs:

An Enlightened Journey

Spottier Cape (Level 66 Hunter Required to wear)

Boots of Lightness

Rings of Dueling

The less you weigh, the more oaks you can carry. You can still do this without spotted/spottier cape.

3.0. Procedure

The main rule is that you can only be 40 kg when travelling on the balloons. So the cape and boots make you -9 kg together. You can do teaks regardless of the boots or cape because they weigh less.

This just in! Penance Gloves adds -4 kg to weight count. After my smithing goal I will update with new pics. So Spottier Cape + Boots of Lightness + Penance Gloves = -13 kg.

I have tried and found out that Bomber Jacket and Hat do NOT reduce weight

  • - Start at castle wars. You should be wearing the Spottier cape, dueling ring, and boots of lightness.

    equipmentplank.png

    - For Teaks/Mahogany your inventory should be: Coins, Willow Log, 26 Teak Logs

    teaksplank.png

    - For oaks, your inventory should be: Coins, Willow Log, 2 Empty Vials (or something else weighing 0 kg), 24 Oak Logs

    oaksplank.png

    - Go to the Hot Air Balloon just outside and north of the castle wars front door and fly to Varrok. You will be right by the Sawmill guy.

    ballontravel.png

Plank your logs and teleport back to Castle Wars.

Repeat this until you are done planking all of your logs.

You may need to add that the log you use for traveling, does not count for the 40 kg max weight. And you don't need a tinderbox either.

Another thing is; this is most usefull for making teak planks, they are lighter and you can easily take a full inv with you without even the boots or cape.

Only one point of critisism, IMO this is already well known.

When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.

So after you make planks, do you drop the willow log and unequip your ring of duelling?

Just wondering.

Nice guide though.

Started free trade with 1.5m cash. 2 weeks later, have hit max cash 2x.

PvP drops: 359 Brawling Gloves, 11 Vesta's Longswords, 41+ Zaros/Ancient Statues

9 Dragon Full Helms, 3 Dragonfire Shields on the old PvP loot system

Brawler guide is being finished!

just to add to your insightful guide. I found wearing the bomber jacket and hat given after the quest also lowers your weight.

And since I hate walking I've incorporated the oak plankings to my construction power lvling. Whenever my energy drains to 0 and my patience wears thin, I'll go make oak larders with those planks until my energy returns to 0 or I used up all those oak planks.

rs name is da same

an alternative is this

1. start of in CW

2. use balloon to saw mill (willow log)

3. at the saw mill cut both a yew *AND* a normal log

4. Once u got ur planks go to tavely using ur normal log... in tavely cut a willow log

5. use the yew to cw

6. use the willow from Tavely to start over again
