runemetsa
If i get FFX, wouldnt it be too far into the story? Nah, every single game is a diggerent story, different characters, not linear at all. FFX-2 is the continuation of FFX. X-2 is the only FF I have played (And the only on I have), and I still got along with the story. And the events of FFX are explained on the first page of manual. Anyways, I find X2 very amusing game with far more interesting storyline than X's story. It doesn't say anything about every Aeon, doesn't say about Dark Aeons (only beat Dark Valefor, Magnus Sisters FTW!) and Penance, nothing about Anima(she is one ownage aeon), Omega Dungeon, Jecht, Auron and a whole lot more. If you're just starting off, for hand held, Tactics Advance. Underrated, but one of my favorite Final Fantasies. There's a grid system, no ATB and job classes, but it's really fun to play =D

MC_Kejml
Umm.. I'm the only one here for FFVIII, but i would recommend you that one. If you don't care much about the graphics( still, the cutscenes are superb), you will get into the story and battling systen quite quick. Another good thing about FFVIII, which is better then in FFVII, is the fact that the character look like normal people, not some anime guys with hair bigger then their whole body. And also because FFVII and FFVIII are the only games for pc. But, I don't knwo if i get that question right - if you are planning to play on pc or somewhere else. ^ my book :^_^: I don't play anymore, but I'm grateful I played through the best RS times! FFVIII was a great game. :) The graphics are a whole lot more advanced (from what I saw of FFVII atleast). But do not match FFX (evidently). The battle system is no different, really. Except for FFVII you have to equip Materia while in FFVIII you have to equip Guardian Forces (sorta like Aeons for FFX). Materia generally only gives a few benefits such as +2 strength or a new skill whereas Guardian Forces give everything the player needs. It affects skills used, stats, weapon abilities and some extra things such as being able to "capture" the enemy into a card for a side-game. The whole chibi versus non-chibi debate is personal opinion. I loved FFVIII for it's good graphics and the storyline really matched it. But the FFVII's graphics really bring out the fun side in adventuring. Whoa, do NOT get it for PC. The PC versions of FFVII and FFVIII only play the music using MIDI files, that's BAAAAD. You'd be better off getting it for a console or using an emulator. OK thanks guys, so what is the final decision that i should make then? I'd still say FFX. Great graphics, great storyline and only a single disk. Also allows play of FFX-2 for a story addon.

Guest AshKaYu
Ok thanks guys  Wait! If you just go into 10, you'll be repulsed at the site of 1-2, or 7 or maybe even 9(one of the best) . Besides, in 10 there were so many annoying characters (Non annoying = Lulu, Auron . . . ) although the battles were fun.

Lordjake
The first and only real RPG I've played is FFX, and I absolutely loved it. It was quite easy to get used to, the storyline was , and the graphics were great.
Faelenof
asdcjhlwkjcnskojdcsdfinalfantasyeeee. Sorry, bit of a fangirl here. o_o To be honest, I never got into FFX (probably because I was playing it at a friend's house instead of owning it myself... :-w), but the graphics were very cool when I did play it. :P I've only properly played three of the PS FFs - them being VII (just finished, excellent storyline, that one), VIII (first one I played, great storyline as well, big graphics jump from VII), and IX (the only one I own, and my favourite. ^^). I'll suggest VIII or IX. Both great games and I don't really think there's too much of a steep learning curve to play them. Quite an easy game to get a hang of. VIII has realistic graphics and a very good storyline (the first FMV is one of my favourites. ^^), and IX has more of the older FF character styles (kinda deformed), but good graphics nonetheless and easy to play - though the ending sometimes leaves you with a "... huh?". So yeah. Yay Final Fantasy. ^^ Pixel Artist - Former Player Mod - Former Tip.It ModNot taking sig requests - sorry!
Umega
Still waiting for FFXII over here in Britain. :x Same. I think it's coming out in Febuary. :| If you still have a PS1 then go for FF VII. Or VIII to, that's still a good FF game. I personally only have FF X now for my PS2. No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.
Lionheart_0
Id like also like to remind people how hard it is to get the older games now. I took me three years until someone turned in an old copy of VII at my local EB games before i was able to get it. Although most EBs do have old VIII because most people rathered VII. Freesia
I hear that FFIV has some decent storyline..(a bit too old already?) :P Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(. Lionheart_0
I hear that FFIV has some decent storyline..(a bit too old already?) :P It was ok, but they did come out with a remake for the gameboy advance. I have it, and it is a fairly good game. FFV game boy advance version is out to. About tidus wakka and rikku. It was part of Tidus' character to like that, because it added to the story. He was meant to go from a little cry baby that got his way all the time, to being thrusted into a situation that made him feel extremely uncomfortable. Wakka was just a supporting character, and it was his cultures way to speak like that. And rikku... Well she is just hot =P~ Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! I mean, it would have made his Dad really happy.
Lunar_Drifter
Which one should you buy first? Well... Final Fantasy (that's the first one..) ...Of course! That is the number one game ever made in my opinion. It was the developer's last hope (hence the "final fantasy") at making a game, and it was a huge success! I played it for the original, old school NES back in the day and loved it, then got it for the PSX and beat it within 3 days.. What a game. A great one to start off with. Then I'd say go to FF8, that's pretty good for beginners. Then FF9, a little more advanced, and finally FF7. That's the second best, in my opinion. Have fun! The Junky(xD) system of 8 was so annoying. Go with IX once you're done the earlier ones, it eases you into VII, VIII and X styles(where your characters are blank slates)
