Need some ideas for a project.

So, I need to make a science fair project for my science class. Right now, I'm a sophomore in high school, and my teacher expects a lot. Does anyone have any ideas of topics for me? I think I can get access to a lab to perform some experiments if I need to.

Any help would be appreciated...

Test the effects of hydroelectric dams and there effect on the ecosystem.

You will need very few materials:

An hydroelectric dam

A river

Testing materials

Logs to take notes whilst studying the animals who inhabit the area.

Have you considered osmosis as your subject? It's incredibly easy to set up yet can be very broad if you need it to. Don't know if it's at the level your teacher expects. All you'd need is potatoes, water, salt and beakers...

Explain, this seems like a good idea. I did a little bit of research, and it looks like I can do this with eggs. Can you please elaborate?

Ive never done something like that, but we did a Desalination experiment on my 11th year.

We had to figure out ways to turn colored salt water into drinkable water. :-k

Eggs? Osmosis is the Diffusion of water across a semi permeable membrane.

Ill see if i can find a diagram to show you how the experiment would go.

Bear with me ̮̤̉̉ause Im not sobere entirely...

You need...

6 glass vials

6 Potato slices (5x0.5x0.5cm)

Saline solution (0,1%, 0,5%, 1%, 5%, 10%, 5%, mix salt and water in those percentages by weigth).

Put a potato slice in each beaker with the saline mixture. Weigh before, legt it rest in a mixture for 24 hours, then weigh again. Also, try to find a way to measure flexibiltiy (won't spoil this for you).
