20 December 2006 - A Christmas Reminder

Featured Replies

As the festive season quickly approaches, we would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that purchasing in-game items or RuneScape gold for real money is completely against the rules and strongly discouraged.

For the safety of players̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ accounts, it is very important that well-meaning parents who may think that this would be a nice Christmas present, are aware that any accounts involved run a very high risk of being banned. As such, please do not accept or give away any gift of this kind.

To help spread that Christmas joy, try to find a more suitable present; something that says ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâMerry Christmas̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ in a way that no amount of gold pieces or rune armour could ever compare!

If you would like more information on Rule 12: Real World Trading, please see the RuneScape Rules of Conduct.

We would also like to reassure players that we have a very safe way of detecting this (by tracking back to known real-world traders). We DONT just look for unbalanced trades! So there is no need to worry about being banned unfairly. We are extremely cautious to avoid that, and are aware people often lend each other items, etc...

I thought is was going to be one of those RL>RS speeches saying to spend time with your family, but it was just this.

Quit RS, combat 104, total 1651

Parents dont play the game, so they won't read that part. The news post was made to warn parents it's against the rules to buy RS items for $$$, as many parents may not know of RS rules.

heck, lol they arent very good at banning people that buy money. I have 3 seprate friends that have all bought money on different websites and none of them have been banned. 2 bought 2 mill each on 2 occasions and the third bought a total of 30 mill for like 4 times.

that is a merry news for christmas... no more bans for unbalance trades!

... but still, be aware that they can still ban you for unbalance trade by rule 8; they *think* you are using the other character as extra bank space (i.e.:mule)
