Elessar3019
This startled me more than just about anything else I've seen in RS. So I'm in Catherby, fishing, and everybody starts talking about how old they are and questioning everybody else's age. Jokingly, I say that I should report all of them for asking for personal details. I get an overwhelming response of "reporting's for noobs." One person even goes to the trouble to pm me and say "noob." Could someone please explain to me why reporting is such a bad thing? See, I thought it was good and helped make the RS world a better place for all the honest, rule-abiding players out there (I say this as I'm afk, still fishing). Agree? Disagree? Couldn't care less? Feel free to speak your mind. Please don't move this to Help & Advice; it is meant as a discussion topic and not a query. perfect grammar is one thing, typing like a drugged monkey and enjoying it is anotherAMEN! darksniper
I fail to see why reporting is a bad thing at all. I think everyone should report an offence as soon as they see it. However, in the example you described, I dont think it would be necesarry to report. :-w Spam DEF: Any post, paragraph, or sentence that does not add to the value of the thread. Doesn't mean Stilev's statement isn't true in general. And, while that situation doesn't really warrant reporting (I know you were joking), anyone who believes that reporting is for noobs either breaks rules :? or is a noob :P Legends quest completed at lvl 47 on X Legendre X#3056 to 99 firemaking, achieved on July 4th, 2007.Tied for #1854 to 99 farming, achieved on September 3rd, 2008. While you are playing on RuneScape, you must be at the computer. Away from keyboard training is not allowed, and you should log out when you leave the computer. does not say anything about a different web browser, just says at the comp
kane531
reporting is for people who don't like rule breakers... but personally i think rule 11 is a load of bull The world is full of self proclaimed experts who really don't know what they are talking about. Poopingman
While its true that many people abuse their ability to report "problems" to Jagex staff, being called a noob under your circumstances is unwarranted. Greedom1
Your the 1% that are good that came from miniclip. (and I came about a week BEFORE miniclip came out  ) Oh that week was paradise 8-) . Miniclip was out (as a games site) looooong before they decided to host runescape on their site. I used miniclip (and other flash game sites) for 2 years before RS was hosted there. Personally, people who complain about "miniclippers" are wasting their time griping. If something brings more people into the game you enjoy IT IS NOT A BAD THING. Period. IT IS NOT A BAD THING. (breathe, breathe, it's okay!) :) (Honestly, where else would the influx of raw materials come from for all of us higher leveling skillers?) The problem lies within the people who play the game for 6 years, 6 months or even a few days and are complete idiots (in RL and of course, in RS). Get over it and focus on your game. Constantly calling out noobs doesn't improve you as a player; it only may make you feel better about yourself until the next "noob" comes along. (edit) I should add this wasn't directed at anyone in particular. Rather, it was a general comment. Thanks! ~gree RSN: Greedom1 | QP 248+ | Combat 116 | Total 1920+ | Skills 95 craft, 99 farm, 88 herb, 91 mage, 85 slayer Values? What do they mean? While its perfectly fine that more people joined Runescape, the average intelligence of the people flowing in from miniclip was dramatically lower than the average in Runescape during the time before that. Its simple math, the more of them that flowed in, the lower the average 'Scaper's intellligence got. Spend 5 minutes on Runescape nowadays and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Honestly miniclippers seem a lot like a scapegoat. Obviously there was some effect from them, but with any medium becoming popular, its original "hardcore" fan base is going to be diluted. You see the same thing with bands (Dave Matthews Band and "Crash Heads" comes to mind). I see idiots everyday on RS. My point is, since they are part of the equation, rather than worrying about it, just focus on the game itself and you'll be fine. After all, there are no less than 500 clan groups out there that bring together those folks who don't ask for "fr33 St00f" all the time. Perhaps I'm mistaken -- I do spend most of my time farming and slaying. I honestly don't find myself in a place like Varrock or Falador for more than 5 mins a day. Because people who go there generally aren't there to think, just there to do mindless clicking in a flash game. When they see Runescape they think "OOOO what a cool looking game" then go in and after seeing that you can have a girl avatar in-game going "I wanna gf press 999!!". Personally I don't care as I keep to myself in-game. :-w On-topic: There the noobs, you should have reported them, as it was against the rules. Greedom1
Not everyone was "hardcore" in the old days. I mean, there were noobs, morons, etc. Just not to the staggering degree there is today. Excellent point. Think about when you first got your driver's license (in the US at least it's called this). You get out on the road, you are a dumb noob. Maybe you wreck, maybe you don't, after awhile you feel like you own the road. So now you've been driving 5, 10, even 20 years... scared - even upset by those dumb "noobs" like you once were... Except for the fact that a stupid squirrel/deer running in front of your car one day may make you swerve and become a "dumb noob" wrecking your car all over again. <--- The Runescape equivalent could be alching your whip, or other countless dumb actions. Moral of story: none. Play the game, ignore the noobs, and when you run into them, run over em and keep going! :) RSN: Greedom1 | QP 248+ | Combat 116 | Total 1920+ | Skills 95 craft, 99 farm, 88 herb, 91 mage, 85 slayer Values?
