Poopingman
Guess I'll say MC. I can stand Eminem and rappers like Lil' Wyte. Thats in small, small quantities, though. Rap as a whole is deplorable. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....

warri0r45
I prefer MC, but only for 2 artists: Zack De La Rocha of Rage Against the Machine The Beastie Boys It's nothing ractist or anything, but ironically, I just think white (hispanic in the case of Zack) guys are better. (Although there are obviously a lot of terrible MC's out there, as there are rappers and indeed any genre of musicain).
timmay929
I thought MC was short for emcee, which was another name for a rapper. Maybe i'm wrong, I don't know. But I love rap, always have and always will. But I hate these new rappers. All of their names start with "Lil" and "Young". And they all rap about "I got twenty fos on my caddy" I listened to more "old school". Once I started listening to it I realized how bad these new rappers are. I'm not saying that all of these new rappers are bad, just a majority of them. 122 Combat : 99 Hits : 99 Attack : 99 Strength97/99 Defence : 99 Fletching : 99 Woodcutting

This MC/Rapper business just seems to be another way in my opinion to distinguish between 'black' and 'white' which seems quite sad. The way you rap(fast/slow etc.) which the poster reffered to, is your flow or how you flow. Anyway as a rap fan, I have to say in the last 4/5 years most of the new hip hop albums being released have been poor with a few exceptions such as Nas, Kanye West, Jay-Z and a few others. Its a shame because rap was so strong during the 90's maybe Nas was right Hip Hop is Dead. (just wanted to work that title in its such a good album :D ) He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)

Nas is one of the greatest. But as for it being dead, I wouldn't go to that extent. I just think it's a very low point. The 90's was the best point in rap. Tupac, Biggie, Eminem, Nas, Wu-Tang Clan(who released the greatest rap album ever), Dr. Dre, Mobb Deep, Jay-Z(even though I don't particularly like him, I must give him credit.) I do agree that hip hop isnt dead I was exagerating a bit but theres definately been a big downturn in quality. I think hip-hop died after 2004 tho, and we started getin the 'Lil" and "Young" rappers. - Only character in Runescape History maxed out in RSC and RS2

ctp080188
Yeah I'm pretty sure MC stands for master of ceremonies, or microphone controller. I don't think it always means rapper though, for example, in a club when you see a dj, and theres some guy on the microphone just talking, not rapping, he is still known as the MC as he has the microphone. But yeah, ultimate classic albums for me have to be, The Chronic 2001, Doggystyle, Illmatic, The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, Double Up, Genesis. I have to agree with 1 man army, or should I say Nas. The music in the past couple of years I would not classify as hip hop. People are too into making party tunes and club bangers, the actual content is non-existent. SHH HUT YUH MUH. DERKHED.
How2PK
Hm, I'd go for something like "It takes a nation of millions to hold us back" (Public Enemy), "Bizarre Ride to the Pharcyde" (The Pharcyde), "Train of Thought" (Talib Kweli + Dj Hi-Tek/reflection eternal), "Death Certificate" (Ice-Cube) "Ironman" (Ghostface Killah), "Criminal Minded" (Boogie Down Productions/KRS-One), "Internal Affairs" (Pharoa Monch), "All Eyez on Me" (Tupac), Illmatic (Nas) amongst others... Oh, the topic more or less changed to greatest hip hop albums. :) So I thought I'd give my share as well. The other question is a bit weird. buzzsaw
I first used to like Rap, then MCing came about and i preferred that over Rap. Then "Grime" was on the scene which i loved and still love today. I dunno whats happening to Grime though, the artist such as Kano, Dizzie Rascal and Roll Deep, which were the last Grime albums i bought, seemed to have faded out over the past year. Back to the point, MC beats Rap in my opinion. People like 50 Cent and G-Unit with every beat sounding the same have just ruined it. Rap needs a change. Kano has a new track with Vybz Kartel, just so you know... but yeah Grime irritates me these days, it's the same old stuff, and getting beaten up by overexcited boys in clubs is no fun either. I'd like to know how people are differentiating between rap and mcing, as far as I understand, they are basically the same, except in circumstances I mentioned before. SHH HUT YUH MUH. DERKHED. buzzsaw
Never knew about Kanos new track, any good? Also, the way i tell he difference beteen Grime and Rap is that Grime is more of commercial MCing, slowed down so it will appeal to more people. Also Grime artists are, from what i know, nearly all English. Where as Rap is mainly American artist speaking over a beat that usually has good bass, even though the lyrics always talk about girls, cars and money. Off topic: Im also realy into trance/dance music, gotta love the club tunes  Main/Retired - BuzzsawCurrent Account - Wileout

Yeah pretty sure it's majority UK artists, the only one that the US has taken interest in is Sway (although not grime), who apparently has hooked up with Chamillionaire and is looking to try and crack America. (I met him in V.I.P. once! haha.) You can get English rap as well, Iceberg Slimm comes to mind, as well as Sway. I wouldn't class that as garage, definitely fits into hip-hop and rap. I just wanted to know what you meant by the difference between mcing and rapping, grime is a whole other genre! (Oh yeah, and Kano track - although not the greatest fan of his, anything with Vybz Kartel on, I adore! hehe!) SHH HUT YUH MUH. DERKHED.
buzzsaw
Difference to me between MCing and Rapping is that... MCing is more underground. Where artist have "Battles" and dont write there lyrics. I think of it as a skill, because to make up lyrics on the spot, that gets the crowd going wild, is hard to do. Rappers tend to sit down and write there songs, usually after they here there beat, they'll write the lyrics to match it. Then it gets produced in the studio. Nearly anyone can sit down and write a Rap song, just 8/10 times, it isnt good. So thats how i personally define MCing and Rapping.
