love or hate rares?

Featured Replies

I hate rares, but id love to have a white phat. Whenever i had the money to buy rares i didnt because i thought they would drop :? And I finally bought a santa at 26.5m i was happy, now theyre like 22m :(and i bought a green mask for 21m, so im not sure what theyre worth now. But i still hate rares, their price isnt rising enough to make money, and all they do is sit in my bank.

I'd rather do it the hard way, thank you.

You might, by why does that mean we have to? If somebody wants to invest in a rare and another person wants to sell a rare and they can agree upon a price and you aren't either of the people why do you care? Also I bought a mask and put it in the bank, I've left it there and now I've made over 20mill on it (don't know its exact price). I'm an idiot for making 20mill without doing anything?

i hate em, they look cool, but unblalance the economy too much. People get too rich from merchanting them. Maybe if i was around when they came out and had 300 i'd love em

Doing a little bit of everything

I wonder what the real motives are when one asks all rares to be untradeable because they are "evil".It's the players that are evil and they would be the same even without the rares (For those that think there are scammers only because of rares).

So rares are bad because they cost so mutch? It's called a working economy.

So most people will not get a rare,so what? Why on earth do those even care that rant about rares and then assure that they dont want one.

Personally i have nothing against rares. If people want to spend money on them, who am i to tell them otherwise?

On a break, again.

i've been viewing the replies are really rares are brilliant for the economy and to make players have something to go for. Ofcourse buying full 3rd age and dragon is alot but too many players they have more than this and well what else would they buy? If they had nothing to aim for then what point is there in playing. To most people rares are out of reach and instead of whining they try to make the cash for them whether it's by runecrafting or pking. Rares keep the economy moving and without them this game would be very boring.

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT JUST THAT SIMPLE!

really though *looks for tripsis :uhh: * with tripsis...spending 120+ mil on construction and getting a 99 cape...

Could have had a party hat or the cape (maybe both idk) but it was her choice to pick from having a 120mil cape or the whatever mil price of a phat

to me i am anti-rare as its been so long since i had my red phat sit on top of my head (since march 2002) and i cant get them anymore caz of the stupidity of people, my only indication to a santa or mask or phat isnt looks or to show your richness, but to prove your a rsc vet like me, though i cant prove nowdays but i wish i was lucky enough to get a santa if im lucky from a quitting player :(

For once I kinda agree with supermonk. Though rares are great for cash, I don't really respect people much for making millions a day having some rares they bought cheap growing in price every second. I respect the people who work hard for their cash, and though rares cost a bit nowadays, they're just bought to make "easy cash." It's definitely a smart move, but I respect supermonk's methods much more. Well, unless it involves cheating and luring, which wouldn't surprise me.

See, that 20M you earned? Smart move, yes. But while you have that thing sit in your bank while you do nothing, I or someone else might be out working hard and killing Dagganoth kings for 20M. Who do I respect more, the person who doesn't do anything to make that 20M, just simply lets it grow with no effort? Or do I respect the man who defeats tough monsters or works hard in Runecrafting or other skills (that try patience) to make that cash?

It's probably stupid of me, but it just doesn't sit right with me to make cash without doing anything for it.

And to everyone saying rares "look good", it's just because the value of the item creates the illusion of it looking good  . As an example, purple often looks pretty bad on men nowadays, but back when purple dye was rare it was the color of kings and looked amazing among those who could afford it. It's all simply because of the value of the item creating the illusion of it looking cool. .

No. Why should i give presents for someone in rs?

Most selfish thing I've ever heard

how about the "care less" option. Ive high alched more than 50 party hat sets just to make bank room, of course before they were worth anything.

I do agree killing high level monsters for drops to sell and making 20mill is respectable. But what about the person who buys that rare and makes 20 mill off it and while thats happening kills the same high level monster and makes another 20mill?

Then I'd respect the 20M he earned while killing monsters/skilling/merchanting, and not respect the money he let grow in his bank.

I'm not disrespecting the person here, just the method.

rares seperate people who played the game when the items were droped or poeple who have gained alot of money through drops, or dueling.

Fair enough then, I think we've just got to agree to disagree on rares then.
