dkjestrup Posted January 17, 2007 Share Posted January 17, 2007 Ok guys I've got an Idea that we could have a pixiling school to help out young pixelers as there has been quite a few lately. I have seen first hand what can happen through any kind of graphics tutoring. Basically this idea involves some top pixellers teach the newer guys. this is the plan: Level one We'll have a Lvl one course and this requires one tutor for for a maximum of 5 pupils each. they will do pixel projects at the pixel size of 300 x 150 pixels. They will do 3 of these pixels while getting coaching and tutoring from better pixelers. they will then do a 400 x 175 pixel on their own and their coach will rank them out of 100. If the get a pass (70+) they will move on to level two. Level two We'll then have a Lvl two course and this requires the tutor to continue with everyone in their group that passed level one. they will do pixel projects at the pixel size of 400 x 175 pixels. They will do 3 of these pixels while getting coaching and tutoring from better pixelers. they will then do a 500 x 250 pixel on their own and their coach will rank them out of 100. If the get a pass (80+) they will graduate. the reward? well obviouslly you will be much better then pixeling then when you started. here is an underbanner for students, tutors or judges (optional) [img=http://i1.tinypic.com/4hkou3d.png] I am still working on setting this up. I will obviouslly need some top quality pixellers to help me. this will start after the pixel comp thats on now. tutors: .... Juntion .... Hiimben .... Gargoyle .... doomsavenger we arenot accepting anymore judges the judges will give the students scores on their exams and help them with advanced pixiling in their last weeks of level one and two students: .... If these "pupils" want to get good at pixels their motivitation shouldn't be a crappy little medal, it should be becoming a great pixeler. Lowgravity, I want to be just like you. Im not saying the medal will be good I just thought it would give people recognition like "whoa he passed his pixilling school blah blah blah..." interesting idea, im not sure how it will turn out however PJB21 and pjb21 I was wondering if people like you could help me make it good. Garrgoyle Posted January 18, 2007 Share Posted January 18, 2007 I did something like this last year (as a pupil), it really helped a lot of people out(probably not me since I didn't put much effort into my assignments(as usual :roll: )). We had assignments which were then graded, the teachers us told how to improve and we were given given technique information to read and then set another assignment. There were beginner novice and advanced classes (not sure they had those names, but of that effect anyway.) and if your grades were of a certain standard you were moved up a class. Unfortunatly it only lasted one "term" before the brains behind the project mysteriously disappeared, but it did work anyway. So yea go for it, I'd be willing to help out and/or participate. I read this post to see what was up, I didn't expect some comment about me on it. :P I tried a TIF-GFX team before. It could've worked, i've seen it done, but we just had no activity. I was, and i'm sure others were, quite willing to give help to any beginners who wanted advice. But, it died so I just get people to PM me if they wanted any help/advice. Also a reason I started up my forum, to see if any Gallery regulars would join and we could get a mini-community going.
