The Uprising Of the Patriotic Dance

Featured Replies

If the schools stop hiring DJ's that play songs by the likes of Lil John and the Ying Yang twins we wouldn't have to grind! Honestly, every dance plays Get Low, how else do you dance to that?

Would you rather the students complained about the DJ? The DJ doesn't want that. Blame the music industry for that one.

At our school 'dances', it is our schools tradition pretty much to dance the Nutbush, no grinding there

I attend an all-girls school, so that problem doesn't really exist. We have teachers patrolling the grounds at all times, security cameras installed on a couple of buildings. So consequently, we're well behaved... Most of the time.

Regarding dances... We don't have them. Instead, we have 'formals' for years 10 - 12 only. So, high-heels, make-up, hair done, tight cocktail dresses. Dressed like that, the only dancing that goes on is the romantic head-on-shoulder swaying from side-to-side... thing.

But I thought you attend an all-girls school...So you dance with each other?

So they boycotted a dance, isn't the dance for them anyway. They missed out.

Uh don't? This is why I don't go to school dances. All they do is play all of this crap with a couple dance songs thrown in there.

Second, grinding isn't bad, because it generally has the consent of both parties, DUH.

This is absurd.

Anyways I find this hard to believe.. I mean TWO!? tickets sold and you have 2,000 some kids, just because of something dumb like this? Either you have a school full of idiots, or not that many people were going to go in the first place.

I don't think you realize the reason they didn't go. There was a boycott of the dance because any grinding and that kind of contact was banned from the dance. Although grinding isnt the best form of dancing (Personally i like the crazy random moves dancing, which makes me the life of the party) It shouldn't be banned just because the principal finds it distasteful. (I say principal because all disisions (sp?) are made by the principal in the school, unless it a department thing.)

First of all I wanted to second that crazy random moves dancing. Works well but I never go to dances anymore so meh.

I know this is about the fact that it got banned because the principal finds it distasteful. I still think it's dumb to boycott a dance because of it. I mean it's not like grinding is just some little thing. Society, especially the music industry, makes it seem like grinding is no big deal and everyone is doing it, when in reality, like Shadow said, it's like "dry sex." (if you want to go that far) Do you think parents would be happy their kids are doing this at school dances? Sure some might not care but there are a lot I'm sure that wouldn't want their kids doing that. It's the principal's job to please the parents isn't it?

Maybe if the banning was unjustifiable I can understand a boycott. But grinding? That's definitely reasonable I think. I know it's all a matter of opinion, but you have to admit, grinding has got to be borderline. Plus I think there needs to be some kind of ultimate authority matters, and the principal has been fora very long time.

And I thought my school was the essence of sexual liberation :uhh:

Although we had no school-organised dances - there were A LOT of external parties where near half the class would turn up anyways.

If I had to count the cases of grinding; out of about 800 people, you'd only need one hand - and they would be between PEOPLE WHO WERE CURRENTLY DATING. Not between two students who aren't even romantically involved.

IMO; grinding is a [cabbage] excuse to dry hump and generally get away with it - even if you don't know the person. It's all in the "spirit" of the dance after all. You see it often enough when you go clubbing. Chick is there dancing - then bam - dude starts up the grinding :uhh:

I have a link to the news article (on the internet), i find it funny how during it, they question the kids they find... which ironically, is at the school smoke spot, (all of those kid don't go to dances) if im allowed to post the link, which im not sure about because I know all of the kids in the video... could mod confirm?

I may be showing my age here, but freak dancing shouldn't be practiced by high-school students.

It's not appropriate. It's basically dry-sex standing up. It's less dancing and more for sexual pleasure of the male, and to satisfy the skankiness of the female.
