January 23, 200719 yr my school has made front page news, Prime time local news, and word of it may be spreading as well. But im getting ahead of myself. It started at the school dance, last week. the school decided it would be best to ban "freak" dancing. I, personally being as unhip as I am, have no idea what that is, but according to the school, it involves "front to back adult conduct". when this annoucement hit, the students decided they had to combat it, via myspace and facebook, they boycotted the dance. now who thought that would mean anything? the school herd about this, but decided it wouldnt be anything big. on the ticket sales day. exactly two tickets were sold. considering our school has over 2000 students, I would say that is pretty big. The school ended up canceling the dance, and now the man who founded the boycott group (A senior) is looking at a suspension. apparently now, the student body has proven it has alot of power, we finally gotten a school store by this power.... yes this is an 100% true.... and now im wondering, is this a one of a kind thing in schools? whats your opinion on it? has anything similar happened to you? Sigs made by Runemetsa, Nuzza, Dark_Shadow, Kuroi and Me.liquid blobs attacking eachother American Anime... YAY!
January 23, 200719 yr What exactly is the dance? Maybe you could explain it more so we get a better idea of why they may be doing this. 122 Combat : 99 Hits : 99 Attack : 99 Strength97/99 Defence : 99 Fletching : 99 Woodcutting
January 23, 200719 yr Have you guys never been to a high school dance? A chick "grinds" her booty on a dudes frontside like those rap videos. Really really self-explanitory Gamertag: King Arizona
January 23, 200719 yr School's like to ban everything involcing contact between two people. My cousin's school banned hugging...Even of same-sex friends. Pretty stupid, but whatever. The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me!
January 23, 200719 yr I mean grinding can be fun if the chick knows how to get freaky, but its not dancing. Still, how can you ban grinding?
January 23, 200719 yr The teachers probably think grinding is sexual harrassment or something. ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it!
January 23, 200719 yr The teachers at my school don't care. If someone wants to grind and make an idiot of themselves, then they're free to. Karaoke is really where it's at here! :thumbsup:
January 23, 200719 yr Don't really care for grindin' but oh my dayz! Grindin' is banned at every other school I know. Don't exactly know why, guess because you ain't allowed to get that close to other pupil's considering age. EDIT: It's probably because it's kinky that they banned it. ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢
January 23, 200719 yr Good work! =D> Sounds like a ridiculous rule to me, how were they going to decide what is "front to back adult conduct" anyway? Why is it worse than front to front adult conduct? or side to side? what about holding hands? ...high fives? I hope that the organising senior doesn't suffer any ill-effects, there's nothing wrong with organising a boycott of anything - the fact that the whole school went along with him is what is so powerful - they wouldn't have punished him if no one went along with it. So, they have to punish everyone for going along with him, or no one. For it is the greyness of dusk that reigns.The time when the living and the dead exist as one.
January 23, 200719 yr First of all, the guy who started the boycott should not get punished, it's free speech. :P Take that stupid history teachers. Second, grinding isn't bad, because it generally has the consent of both parties, DUH. This is absurd. The code in my sig should say 1032 not 0132.

It's basically dry-humping. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
January 24, 200719 yr What do the schools expect? A teenage dance without sexual contact, they must be over thier heads... :roll: "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."

That's pretty crazy, 2 tickets sold out of 2000. People at my school probably wouldn't have cared as much. And as was said above, if you punish one, you have to punish all of them, which is rediculous. The teachers are just annoyed that people can stand up for themselves and rally together.

So, they have to punish everyone for going along with him, or no one. It would be unfair to suspend him. As you implied, the school only wants to ban him because he poses a threat to them. But this is where they are sadly mistaken. They think they can solve their problems by ridding of the students who pose powerful harmless threats against them and their judgment. So that's really cool what your school did, I love boycotting. My school was about to boycott the rule forbidding us to wear hoodies, but the school board stepped in and said if we did, we would have to wear uniforms. :( Me doing staff.
January 24, 200719 yr It just goes to show... Schools only have power over individuals. The more of you are, the less they can do. Also, for all you little revolutionists out there, remember - they still have this thing about punishing ringleaders. So if you're trying to pull something like this off, keep your identity secret! ^-^

January 24, 200719 yr If the schools stop hiring DJ's that play songs by the likes of Lil John and the Ying Yang twins we wouldn't have to grind! Honestly, every dance plays Get Low, how else do you dance to that? Gamertag: King Arizona

January 24, 200719 yr I attend an all-girls school, so that problem doesn't really exist. We have teachers patrolling the grounds at all times, security cameras installed on a couple of buildings. So consequently, we're well behaved... Most of the time. :lol: Regarding dances... We don't have them. Instead, we have 'formals' for years 10 - 12 only. So, high-heels, make-up, hair done, tight cocktail dresses. Dressed like that, the only dancing that goes on is the romantic head-on-shoulder swaying from side-to-side... thing.
