Lunar_Drifter
Per hour for cooking, it'd be whatever the highest level fish you can cook is without burning many/at all. Fishing is a different story however. If you want good training food afterwards, go for monkfish. If you can't do that.. go for Shilo. Retired Tip.It Mod || Admin and Founder of Caesar 3 Mod Squad! shoniquoi
For fishing go with lobs at guild, close bank a lot of spots etc. For cooking, get cooking gauntlets, i think its level 68 that you dont burn lobs. But sitck with lobs with both and then sell for some cash if you want.
lorddayu
Shilo, its far faster than the other methods of fishing if you are only looking for exp.

icecube
Shilo would most defintely be the best place for fishing experience. The only problem is the bad cooking experience that comes with it. You'll still get a lot, but at the expense of cooking A LOT of fish. You may want to consider Monkfish as well.
Lunar_Drifter
so whats ur fishing thing ? As said: If you want good training food afterwards, go for monkfish. If you can't do that.. go for Shilo. Monkfish if you want good training food for combat, or Shilo if you just want the experience. Retired Tip.It Mod || Admin and Founder of Caesar 3 Mod Squad! Foooman
If you plan on cooking your fish get monkfish....I wouldn't even consider cooking 200k+ trout and salmon.
Necromancer_Magic
Here's what 10k of each will get: Fishing: 6k trout + 4k Salmon = 580,000 EXP 10k Monkfish= 1,200,000 EXP 6.7k tuna + 3.3 swordies = 946,000 EXP 1k lobs = 900,000 EXP Cooking 6k trout + 4k Salmon (no burns) = 780,000 EXP 7k monkfish (3k burns) = 1,050,000 EXP 6.7k tuna (no burns) 2.5k swordies (800 burns) = 1,020,000 EXP 750 lobs (150 burns) = 90,000 EXP *This is just an estimate.. You will get about 2 full inventories of salmon/trout, in the time it takes you to get to get 1 of monkfish. So although the exp difference looks on the side of the monkfish, the time it takes will reduce the exp per hour. Personally if I'm looking only to level fishing I go to the Shilo Village, but if I'm looking for some exp and food for training/barrows then I'll go for monkfish. icecube
JaGEX says that you'll never stop burning, but high level fishers will typically say 90+ I believe (correct me if I'm wrong). Cooking guantlets also do not help.
Foooman
Cooking Gauntlets DO NOT affect monkfish. I've heard of reports of players with 99 cooking still burning monkfish. However, it is still the best overall cooking/fishing exp.

Clay2
Hey Necro, don't know if you recognize me but I'm HappCow_inCA, well, just dropped by to put in my two bits. In this decision, I am going to have to strongly reccomend that you go with Monkfish for several reasons, accessibility, fishing, cooking, friendships, and money. 1. Accessibilty. It used to be a hassle to get there (having to go by grand tree) but now you can use the fairy ring (the one that goes to the hunting grounds) and be there in a jiffy, while it is still a hike to Shilo. 2. Fishing. While it is a little bit slower in exp (I think my top was 30k an hour) the good thing about Monks are ou can practically afk there, while at Shilo, you must always be looking to make sure you are still fishing. Also, quite often at Shilo you must walk all the way to the other side of the river (quite far actually) whereas at Monks, always very close. 3. Cooking. In comparison of Trout and Salmon to Monkfish, there is no comparison. Trout are so useless I usually drop, because they are just such a waste of time, with not really xp coming out of it, while with monks I can get about 110k xp an hour for cooking (with 97 cooking). Also, the fact that Monkfish heal 16, while Salmon heal 9 is also much more attractive to Monkfish. 4.Friendship. It has always been my experience that at Shilo it seems like people are there for one reason, and one reason only, fishing xp. However, quite often at Monks it is much more laid back, and I actually met three of my very good friends on the game at Monks, where as at Shilo it seems like the sentences are curt and it is much less fun to do (fish) 5. Money. The last bit of reason is the money. Salmon and Trout are worth nothing, Absolutely nothing. However, Monkfish sell for a very tidy sum, usually fetching around 250-300 each. This is very helpful since you are getting much better cooking xp already and money is always nice to have. So, those are my reasons, hope I help you. Ciao :D . Necromancer_Magic
Hey Happy! Thanks for the solid reply. I might go for the monkfish - Just becuase the reasons you said. Because it could get a little boring at shilo without going insane with some people to talk to. Can some one do a load of each, state their fishing level and how long it took to catch the fish with ? icecube
Well Shilo isn't really that empty. When I was fishing there before (world 48), there was almost always someone else there and some regulars too. I met many people trying to get 99 fishing there, and they were there a lot. I'd help with the times for a load of each but I'm currently F2P. I do have these times I timed for myself though, maybe they'll help? I fished for around 10 minutes at each area, but I don't recall what level I was. 63 Trout + 41 Salmon 6020 EXP 43 Monks 5160 EXP
