Avoiding Lures

This is a Short guide on how to avoid, and get back at lurers

I will explain 2 main lures and how to avoid them or even gain from them.

Trade and Run lure

Pretty basic lure and not used much anymore, I'm going to put it in anyway

Step 1:- When buying on the forums somebody will pm you saying to meet them at the edge of the wilderness

Step 2 :- On arrival they will trade you and quickly run to the wilderness before you can accept it

Step 3 :- Once in the wilderness, A pker will wait and kill you for the money

Ways of gaining :- Bring Pking equipment and own them, or send a friend in

Avoiding :- Don't trade near the edge of wilde unless you know what your doing

Money Lure

A very commonly used lure but is very profitable and fun to stop :XD:

Step 1 :- Same as step 1 above

Step 2 :- The person pretends to be lagging and runs back and forth between the wilderness and you, dropping between 10-50k coins in the wilderness

Step 3 :- They stop and either log out pretending to lag or say they are waiting for a friend

Step 4 :- Money appears and you run in for it

Step 5 :- You Dead :boohoo:

Ways to gain:- Bring telegrab runes and get the money, Profitable and funny when they realise their trick didnt work

Avoidance tips: Same as number 1

This was just a short guide to help people with lurer problems

hopefully this will also show lurers that we are on to them and they'll stop!

There are more lures but just stay away from them because you dont really gain from them

This guide is original so there are no credits yet but i will make improvements if people give good ideas

P.S I don't add pictures because my computer can't upload them

(getting a new one soon )

Theres already a guide about this, and you don't really need a guide, if they say meet me north-east egde, there in the widy of going to trade you and run into the wildy while on guy off screen with anicent magicks come and freezes you, this happend to me I knew it was a lure so I bought the stuff I bring nat crafting so he just spashed me and I hit him with a ibe burst and run out of the wildy and reported both of em.

1. I did'nt know there was already a guide like this but meh

2. There is need for this guide because many people complain about lurers and I'm trying to help them and help keep runescape a fun game rather than it being boring because nobody will go anywhere in case of being lured

heh, i remeber someone tryed to lure me, but luckly, there was another high lvl merchant/pker who is friends with me, i knew it was a trap because, standing in a widerness area, seen a glimpse of a ancient mage.

then i purposly went into the wilderness, i traded on purpose, and by that time, the mage shouldve froze me, but instead, my merchant/pker mate froze him and took his stuff and killed the lurer who tried to scam me.

Its funny when a lurer/scammer's plan backfires at them :XD:

1150+ total, 151 questpoints and 76 combat.. is it good? Plz pm me for your thoughts.

A pretty common spot to lure now is by the pub north-east of varrock. They tell you they're alching there and then run into wildy.

Another spot is by the mind altar. They tell you people are running ess for them there and the altar is just south of the wildy line

All I say is your world, my place, and I never fall for lures.

Knew about the 1st one, but not the 2nd. Interesting way to deal with them though.

This isn't a guide, its like a single tip. Plus, anybody that falls for a lure is just plain stupid or a new player

I guess I'm plain stupid then... Although I fell for it over a year ago, when I never even had heard of luring, as it was a fairly new phenomenom. Lost 210k ess and a mime set <.<

Who would expect that a lv 83 with barrage would come up when you're trading a lv 117?

About this guide... I think it tells more about how to lure, and gives a tip to those who don't know how it works. It's not hard at all to avoid a lure when you see it.

seroiusly, If you go and trade with someone at the egde of wildy, its 9/10 times a lure. So why bother?

I Apologise to anyone this offends, but your stupid if you fall for either of those two lures. On each one, if there is someone waiting for you, you would see him/her and your common sense would do the rest.

example of comon sense kicking in:

LURER: Oh no, Im lagging/ im waiting for a freind/ i am taking 20k to my freind.

YOU: thinks: Hmm. Ill kill this odd fellow.

(seeing someone your level, armed to the teeth and with a skull) hmm. that strange man might kill me. Should I stroll towards that odd fellow and try to kill him/trade with my best items? No. It is too risky. the strange man MIGHT be a player killer.(walks off)

See. Easily solved. You dont need a guide for this, its common sense. In fact, you dont need a little play, either.
