Ban medical threads?

Hello.

I think all threads of which people are asking medical advice should be deleted.

I think that it shouldn't really be allowed that some ones offering medical advice over the internet. It just doesn't seem right...

There is a lot more to cover over this matter but I'm tired and don't really want to go into detail.

What do you guys think about medical threads?

Thanks.

The thing that's worrying is that some one could be telling the other person to take X amount of this tablet for example... They could be wrong on what they are saying.

I know most forums I go to don't allow medical threads.

And please keep trolling away from this thread.... Ok.

HEY! Volcano's kill roughly 1,373,587 Canadians every year. Don't joke about that!

I'm not Canadian, and I made that figure up.

i see no reason to ban them. if some one is diagnosed with lung cancer, they will not ask tipit for advice, they will ask their doctor. and also, if you were asking how many of x caplet to take, you should be smart enough and not listen to the idiot that will inevitably come up and say "take 10,000 sleeping pills!"

I think they're fine. Sure the guy with his hand lotion was a bit... weird. But, often I see medical threads as sort of a "home remedy" thread. Someone can really find out something that can help them by talking to people who have experienced the same thing. I guess it's more "personal" to ask someone for help rather than searching a website. :P

Well we're not every other forum are we now? There fine IMO (and by the looks of it, others aswell). And i've never seen a thread where someone is telling someone else on what medication to take, except in that acne thread, such as the medication Acutane, which you need to be prescribed for anyway and can't just use it. Medical threads just don't seem to be an issue here as they are rarely posted.

If you come to a forum infested by teenagers looking for serious medical advice, I'd say you need to ask yourself a few questions first...

This is just for more run-of-the-mill advice. There are some of us who know a few handy things. For instance, I know a bit because my dad's a doctor and mom's a nurse, so I pick up on things.

I wasnt aware that anyone was aking for medical advice. I guess id be for banning it in principle but i dont see the need for a specific rule against it. The whole hand lotion thing is harmless but the creatine thread should be removed. I guess its up the the moderators discresion as to weather the advice can be potentially harmful
