February 21, 200719 yr Our school's taking a trip there in April. Is it a cool city? I'm really looking forward to it, but people are saying its going to be boring and educational. Can you prove my history-hating friends wrong?
February 21, 200719 yr I've been there a few times and there are places that are interesting and fun to visit. Going on a school trip there may not be great though.
February 21, 200719 yr what part of DC? i live 1 hour away from Washington (when i am not in school...). like what are you guys going to do? Smithsonian? Capital building? Cemetery? White House? Lincoln Memorial? Washington Monument? Vietnam Memorial? There are far too many things to see there lol.. to me it's not very fun anymore as i have seen everything there and been there dozens of times...but to first goers...it's a blast...so much fun stuff to see...specially at the Museums
February 21, 200719 yr I've been there a couple of times, and I really like it there. The city is clean and fresh, and there are some interesting sites to see. It's a pretty nice place to visit, in my opinion.
February 21, 200719 yr I live about 20 miles from DC, and it's an awesome place. Check out the Smithsonian, Natural Museum of History, and Air and Space if you can. It's an awesome city. The code in my sig should say 1032 not 0132.
February 22, 200719 yr Of all the things in D.C, the one thing I remember is this Ethiopian restaurant we ate at when I was there. I'm not really a fan of the city, but that was some pretty good food.
February 22, 200719 yr I love the Smithsonian... especially the Museum of American History. I had already seen the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center combined with the Museum at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida so that made the Air and Space Museum not bad but nothing great in comparison. If you haven't been to those though u will probably think it's pretty cool. My memory is a little rusty but I think I preferred the Chicago Museums of Science to the Smithsonian as well. I was little when I was in Chicago though so maybe that is the reason they seemed better. Either way the Smithsonian rocks as a whole.
February 22, 200719 yr I loved the Smithsonian and the Kennedy Center. The flags of all nations is amazing, and the Natural History museum at the Smithsonian has amazing exhibits, like that of the Hope Diamond and other very cool minerals, and a really cool store for mineral collectors. I wouldn't waste your time at the Air and Space museum though, and I never saw the American History one, time was of the essence. Me doing staff.
February 22, 200719 yr Vik are you kidding? the air and space is a definite must (well...i'm an aerospace engineer..lol) everything there rocks..yet again i will say it :)
February 22, 200719 yr Chevy Chase and Bethseda are good parts of the town. It's a lovely city, and the Smithsonian Institute is definately the coolest museum I have ever been to. (And I've been to the Louvre and Royal Observatory :P) My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Believe me, nothing except a battle lost can be half so melancholy as a battle won. -Sir Arthur Wellesley
February 22, 200719 yr Here is a map just in case you need it. Is that a "t3h phr33 m4s0ns r tak1ng 0v3r" conspiracy thing? - EDIT: HOLY COW, that symbol is really there, I looked on wikimapia. Look yourself: http://www.wikimapia.org/#y=38901053&x= ... =0&m=a&v=2 Heh I recommend visiting the Smithsonian.
February 22, 200719 yr I live bout 20 minutes from the place, and really, I don't see anything too special about it, might just be since I've been there so many times, it lost its glam. It really depends on the type of things you enjoy. If you like art and stuff, there are plenty of museums, and even an outdoor exhibit for modern sculptures (made of metal and such, it's actually pretty cool). If you guys get a chance to go out for lunch or something, try to go to M street (next to Georgetown University), it's basically the hangout spot in DC where all the restaurants and shops are. As far as historical monuments and such go, there are a bunch like the Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington, and many war memorials. Overall it's a pretty nice city, if it's your first time it'd be pretty cool I'd imagine, try and check out things that you're actually interested in since there are so many museums to choose from. If you have any questions about the place just ask.
February 22, 200719 yr I totally forgot. Try not to miss the WWII Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial as well. The code in my sig should say 1032 not 0132.
February 22, 200719 yr Author I'm not sure what we're hitting, but we're doing just about EVERYTHING. The bad news is, we're only at some places for a short time, like we'll only be at the Smithsonian for 2 hours! But we're also seeing a play, attending the Changing of the Guard ceramony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and visiting the pandas at the zoo. I'm pretty excited. It shouldn't be too boring, since most of my friends are able to go. (Only 50 people from our grade, plus its around $1,000 dollars, so not everyong is able to attend.)
February 22, 200719 yr Still a pretty good trip. The Tomb was worth it, it's just so surreal. Make sure to see the real Enterprise while you are at the Smithsonian :P. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Can you prove my history-hating friends wrong? Hmm DC rocks if you like Roman/greek architecture! This place is truely fascinating. Everytime I go there I think of free masonry and the Knights Templar...Dunno why just do...Being a history buff ma'self...it is always enteresting...tell them that if they don't get into history they will become ignorent, and stupid. Then they will vote Stupid people into office because they saw them on MTV...Then America as we know it will callapse because we became a stupid nation!! or..just say Tom Cruise will be there too... http://siggy.draynor.net/goal/fletching ... cow101.gif[/img] Nova Ordo Secularum

February 23, 200719 yr great city, the air and space museum is amazing, probably better then the air force museum in dayton ohio, the aircraft carrier in san diego or the museum in kennedy space center. i personally have been to those and can say its better but i have nothing about the uss enterprise in new york as i havent been there. airplanes hanging from the ceiling is cool though

Still funny as hell. For all those who don't know what the top symbol means, its corruption, I have no idea what the other symbol connected to it means though. ~^v^~Ex-Leader of the Divine Flames of Redemption~^v^~

February 23, 200719 yr It's an inverted pentagram. Usually acossiated with the occult. Sometimes has a goat's head in it.
