March 9, 200719 yr My friend gave me Warcraft 3 on my flash drive the other day and I've been learning the little differences from other rts games. I've played a bunch of other rts type games including Age of Empires, Age of Mythology, and Galactic Battlegrounds and really like most of them. So far I've been liking the little rpg elements in Warcraft plus I like how it moves faster. Are there any other good ones anyone has played? Why would you reccomend these over the others?

March 9, 200719 yr I could easily write a long essay on the depth's of Warcraft 3 and psychological qualities of it, but I won't (just yet...). I would say it's easily the best RTS I've played, AoK coming in second. I don't play that many, but I really wanna check out Company of Heroes when my new computer arrives.
March 9, 200719 yr Im quite fond of Age of empires, and rise of nations.. :] Yeah, the whole Age of Empires series was fantastic. I personally enjoyed the Total Annihilation games, but they're a bit dated now.
March 9, 200719 yr I'm not a huge fan of RTS's (I had my fun with AoE II and III though) but I love turn based stratagys such as heroes of might and magic 3.

March 9, 200719 yr I also enjoy the turn-based ones more. Rome: Total War and Civilization 4 both completely take away my life when I start to play them. As far as RTS go, I liked AoE II and Red Alert I and II best.

Yeah the biggest reason I enjoyed them is playing 'hot seat' mode with a bunch of friends. I had battles that could go on for literal days worth of game time.. it was awsome.
March 9, 200719 yr Just bought supreme commander from Wallmart. Looks like a good game, and i havent played RTS' in a long time. The requirements are really high though :shock: . March 10, 200719 yr Star Wars: Empire at War is fairly good. Total Annihilation is the best RTS game ever made. The fanbase is still huge after so many years, and there are endless 3rd party additions, like units and maps. It's great. I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.
March 10, 200719 yr Author One of the best parts is the fact that although warcraft 3 only has 4 classes, each one is drastically different. I prefer that over 30 or so of about the same thing in AOE.

Hot Seat is so incredbly fun, man me and two of my friends had a 10 hour long game.. On-Topic: C&C and Age of Empires are my personal favourites, but I've heard that Warhammer 40K is supposed to be great aswell. :)

March 11, 200719 yr Empire Earth is ok but the second 1 is heaps better ARGH I hate empire earth! I knew someone would mention it here. The gaming engine sucks so much it takes twice the proccessor power it reccomends to run it. The graphics suck. Even the sounds drive me up the wall. And don't get me started about gameplay...
March 11, 200719 yr well i dont really hav anything to compare it to coz i think ive played age of empires for about.......3 hours at a friends house the closest thing i hav to that would be warcraft 3 in empire earth i like starting in Prehistoric Age and working my way up to Space Age i hav a feeling that age of empires is way way way better, but i havnt played it, i just stuffed around with it at a friends place thanks to mitsubishi64 who made this sig
