Silkroad Online- FREE MMORPG

Are you sick of Runescape? Are you tired of those pathetic graphics, those horrible sounds? Are you tired of wasting five dollars a month for such a pathetic game? Or 10+ dollars a month for a better game?

You should check out Silkroad Online.

http://www.silkroadonline.net

Silkroad is a game that you download, (about 500 MB, and when installed about 1 Gig). It is set in the time of ancient China, when there was the silk road between Europe and China (search for it on google if you want to learn more).

It is mostly a fighting game, and once you reach level 20, you can become a trader, hunter, or a thief. As a trader, you buy specialty goods in one town, and you travel on horseback to another town and sell those goods for a huge profit, while avoiding thieves (player and NPC), and monsters along the way. As a hunter, your job is to protect the traders, hunt thieves, player and NPC, and "wanteds". You become wanted if you forecfully attack a player not performing a "job" (thief hunter trader) As a thief, your job is to kill hunters, and traders, mostkly traders, steal their goods and sell them yourself.

In Silkroad, there are many features that other games, especially runescape lack.

Clan support-

Pay 500k to the guild master, and you can start your guild. At a level one guild, you can only have 15 members. Once your guild gets enough guild points, you can pay 3 mil to the guild master, and your guild is advanced to level two. At level two you have more privileges. The same goes on for up to level four I think, I also don't know how much it costs to level up after two.

Seperate chats-

There are seperate chat windows-

"all " chat displays everything

"party" chat displays only your party's messages and private messages

"guild" chat displays only your guild (clan)'s messages and private messages

"union" chat displays chat between allied clans

When you die, you lose experience, not items (unless you are a wanted, then you also lose one random item)

Look, I'm not ognna sit here all night and type up all of the game's features. You go on the site and check it out for yourself. It is very fun.

The only downsides to the game, are that once you make a character on a server, you can't switch servers. For example, my character is on the server "Troy", while on Troy I can't communicate with anybody on the other servers, and if I wanted to play on the other ones, I would have to make a enw character just for those. Another downside is that the game is Korean and still in beta, the english is not very good.. but it is still understandable. There are also quite a few bugs, but they aren't MAJOR bugs... just small things, such as quest names and objectives not showing up, actually that's all the bugs I can think of.

I suggest you get with some of your friends first if you want to start playing, so that you all make an account on the same server. If anyone wants to add me in the game my in game nick is "Stallowned", I'm on the world Troy. 8)

I bet they'll go Gunbound on all of us and provide some kind of p2p thing (but keep the f2p game going) with super benefits.

I've been looking for this, but I haven't been able to find it. Thanks for reminding me. :)

I heard (but I could be completely wrong as it doesn't make much sense) that the Koreans have to pay for the game, but they also have the full version now while everyone else is still missing a lot of stuff. Don't take my word for it.. it's hat I heard.. might be true.. but I somehow doubt it.

Cant even go on the website cause i dont have certain types of operation systems :? I definitly think that that automaticly makes it worse, if it cant allow everyone. Also i dont like just fighting games, so i think runescape is much better.

It looks interesting, although they still need to work on their translations...

It's not quite Engrish, but it's a valiant attempt :P

Haha, that kinda makes the game more playable, in a strange way.

Ugh, suddenly jumped to download completed at 60%, gave me an error when I tried to start it (should have seen it coming, the file was only 293mb...). Restarted it now, but 50kb/s is sloooooooow :?

It's pretty decent. I love the dialogue options: "Start to Conversate; Stop to conversate". Classic.

I have a level 6 swordsman/ranger working on getting to level 10 for a horse.

I've been trying for ages, do the servers ever die down?!

Or is there some kind of way to get on even if the servers are full? It says that the four servers are full, then after about two attempts it shuts the program down, which is the main thing that annoys me, restartgin the program just to try again.

And while we're at it, are there any tips for how i should start?

Lvl 8 now, after my initial gripes I've really been getting into the game. I'll probably make lvl 10 before the end of the day. I'd like to know if those horse... thingies you buy at the stable are permanent or one use only...

What I would like to know is...what should I train on to quickly and easily get from level 8-10? I really want a horse to explore the other cities. Im on weasels and big ghosts now...I should be killing grave monsters but they are way too strong for me (like...I have to completely heal HP and MP after one of them.)

Crescent Spear 36-49 attack (including character stats)

Full copper armor (need 13 to go full bronze)

I have the base spear special attack at its second level and a healing spell.

And I have like 20k cash :P.

Don't even think about going to the next city until you're 18+ :)

I recommend only doing quests, until you get to a couple levels where there aren't quests.

Barihawk, do you boost your stat points each you level up? I hadn't found out about it until I was about 12 or something. At the top left of your screen, where it shows you your health, magic, and level, there should be a little yellow + next to your level. Click that and you have three stat points for each level you gain, you can put any number of them into Int, or str. Putting them in int raises your total magic, and your magic attack and defence, and putting them into str raises your hp, and your physical attack and defence.

http://www.silkroadonline.org has some nice quest guides for anyone interested.

Adthegreat, you just need patience.. that is just a way of preventing auto-loggers. During the daytime (especially on the weekends) it gets pretty annoying trying to get in, they need to increase the server space badly.

Necromagus, the horses are one use unfortunately. You buy one for 1.2k, then later you can buy a stronger (i think faster too) one for 2k once you reach level 30, and there are a couple more later on but I don't know their prices or levels yet. Once your horse dies, or you dismount it, he dissapears.

I reccommend everyone to NOT use any skill points until you are about level 15-20 (skill points are that yellow bar, and number in the bottom left corner). You should get one force attack (powers up your weapon for a short time with a special ability for the element you're using), and one attack for your weapon. After that save up your skill points. Skills and skill levels start getting pretty expensive alter in the game, and you will spend hours getting enough for just one level. If you "farm" them when you're a low level, you will have a nice stash of them for later. The greater the difference between your highest mastery level (your mastery level for any weapon or force cannot surpass your combat level), and your level, the more your experience goes towards skill points(if the difference is big), or leveling (if theere is little to no difference)

^That process is kind of complicated to explain, there are better explanations on various silkroad sites.. if you want me to try to explain it better, I'll give it another shot.

The next metal after copper is bronze

As I said earlier, I suggest only doing quests, you end up doing the same thing (killing monsters), and then at the end you get a nice reward of xp, sp, gp, and sometimes a couple potions or a cool scroll. It makes leveling much faster and not as pointless.

Also, if you get any items, don't sell them in the shops. Deposit them in your bank (for a fee), then at night when you're bou tto go to bed, withdraw 10 of them, set up a stall in town, put your items in, set the prices, open the stall and go to bed. Setting the prices anywhere up to 2X the store purchasing price should get you some sales. You shouldn't go 2X or more, unless it is a "seal of star/moon/sun" item which sell for lots, or if it has a high +x number, or if it's a weapon, has a high critical.

Quests are all well and fine, but do they ever progress beyond collect X items or kill X monsters? It seems to get a bit tedious after a while...
