i think there should be an option where you can see all of the users that looked at your thread in the last 5 minutes. What do you guys think?
All that wasted space on something with no practical value :-?

No, this kind of disrupts the privacy at Tip.It forums. Also its basically useless unless your waiting to see if someone is replying to the topic, or waiting to post a post about your post to post about the post to further a debate. :-#

However I'd love to see a post counter. You could see who has the most posts on the topic, it would be kind of neat. ^^

thats my issue with that too. For example as a moderator on the offical forum I often see the suggestion "let us know if a moderator has viewd our thread"

Well the sad fact is that we don't know how to correctly moderaet every thread and somtimes we leave a thread for another moderator to deal with who understands the situation better. I would imagin it is the same on tip it, where a mod does not know the situation or simpaly does not have the time to deal with somthing.

This would reflect badly on the moderator OR would make it look as if a thread was "ticked off" as ok.

It's the same for every user though..... people just don't want others to know what threads they have viewed or not.

So you can go "Hey, why didn't you post on my thread!?". Many threads get many users who want to browse them to read but not to post. You can see the total amount of people who have viewed your thread which is fine as it is.

I don't even know if such a feature is possible on phpbb. Or it may cost an extreme amount of server space.
Hence my post :P THousands and thousands of vies, it'd literally just be a table of:

user_id | topic_id

you can have a guess how quickly that'll grow. If it was in place from the start, you'd have millions of entires, those few bytes start to up add pretty damn quick.

Couldn't there be an auto delete for data stored past 7 minutes long? After 7 minutes of one view, its deleted...? Or is that not possible on php?

How do you 2 think the "Who's online?" at the bottom of the index works. :P It stores when you hit the forums and updates with each page view you make and drops the entry after a few minutes of inactivity. It isn't bad on the index because it's only in one place and a general 'is so-and-so somewhere on the forums'. Adding that to each and every thread would be a massive waste of resources (as rick pointed out).

Edit: The phpbb errors have been happening for several hours now. Don't know if Albosky has been notified about it yet. I know at least one of the mods knew about it on IRC earlier.

Sorry to get off subject but I have tried to notify Albosky for hours but my PM box is all messed up. I'll keep trying. I'm sure he knows.

I PMed albosky about it like 5-6 hours ago so he may be quite mad at the amount of his PMs lmao.

I totally did not make that connection.>.<

But I'm still against this, disregarding the fact I asked about if it was possible to do such things. :-#

Even though this is very off-topic, the bug or what ever it is, is also causing delay in when the server, or client reads when a new post is made, actually it reads it, it just takes an hour or so before the name of the person actually appears. -.-
