On AMC there is going to be a show about Zombies. I don't know really much about it, based on a comic.

Here's the trailer

I am a black lady and I can comfirm this. All I kept yelling was "NOOOOOOOO....[cabbage]! NOOOOOOOOO! STOP! STOP!" By episode end I was so pumped I need to take a moment for reflection...

I've been waiting a while for this. Good to see some progress on it.

Haha, the beginning is shamelessly copied from that of 28 Days Later. From the trailer it looks like it has an impressive budget though, and quite the stellar line-up of directors and writers too (Shawshank Redemption, The Wire, Dexter, BSG, 24, etc.). Zombie-apocalyptic stories have always intrigued me, so I'm definitely looking forward to this. Thanks for the heads up.

Bumping this since the premiere is in a week.

A co-worker told me that the first episode was leaked and that it's supposed to be really, really good. I know how I'll be spending my Halloween!

Question: what's so special about zombies? What's the hype?

"The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."

Are you really asking that question on a forum like this? There was a massive (and maybe still is) Zombie Apocalypse thread on OT. I smell some bait....who's gonna take it?

Fear. People believe that they are unsafe, and the like to fantasize about the end, believing that it might be something as glorious and heroic as a zombie apocalypse... instead of a nuclear war.

Edit: Damn, I took the bait.

Looks really good, Im excited for the rest of the season.

Pilot was pretty great.

[spoiler=Spoilers]Not sure if these are necessary. I felt bad for the legless zombie. :<

And the end was pretty cool. Does firing inside a tank really do that whole reverb thing?

Maybe the guy on the radio will tell the guy how to drive the tank next episode. >:3

I saw the first episode yesterday. It was kinda "meh". I guess I'll give it some more episodes before deciding anything, though.

I loved the pilot as well.

[hide]I'm pretty sure firing a gun would have that effect, because the sound waves have no where to go.

What I liked about the first episode the most was that it wasn't just a superficial zombie show. The value of family theme is something that I hope they continue.

And omgwtfdrama with his wife and police partner.

Also, poor horse...I thought the whole cowboy sheriff badassness would last longer than 15 minutes.[/hide]

The only problem I have with the show thus far is the lead guy. He reminds me of Joseph Fiennes with his weird facial expressions. I hope he turns out to be a better actor. It's hard to judge with only one episode.

We don't need spoilers, but I thought the first episode was alright, definitely going to give it a couple more episodes to see how it goes. I've heard some bad rumors coming from one of the top guys on the show..

Not bad for a pilot. This story could be good if the writers are anything like the ones from Mad Men.

Are they not sticking to the comic?

I wouldn't know, but I know that I like Mad Men. I assume that AMC would use the same style whether or not they are strictly following the comic books or not. Kind of like how all HBO shows have a certain style or feel to them.

Great episode.

This series has me hooked now.

So what's the general consensus on quality of show/dedication to the comic?

Last night I watched the episode with someone who had read the comic. Not wanting to spoil anything, he said that there were a few things that weren't in the comic. For example, the sex scene at the beginning was apparently only alluded to in the comic and not specifically shown. There are also extra characters that are not in the comic. After that I told him to shut up and just watch.

I really hope they don't do product placement like other shows do (the perfectly placed muscle car). I remember when shows like Heroes did it with Guitar Hero and it was baaaddd.

Other than that, another good episode. I was slightly surprised that they were allowed to use the N word like they did, but he got what he deserved at the end so HA.

I doubt that's the last we'll see of him. Remember the guy knocked over that huge thing of tools (which included the hacksaw) when he was running back? I'll betcha it was within reach.

We also saw zombies prying open that door in the preview, so yeah. I was just happy that he got left behind.
