  1. If it was an online test I wouldn't trust it much. Such a test would probably tell you the average IQ anyway, which would suggest some kind of boasting on your part.
  2. The Axis of Evil actually refers to Iran, Iraq and North Korea. EDIT: I should suppose Iraq is no longer on the 'list', since it was the Saddam regime that made it 'evil'.
  3. Since when do women need a reason to do anything?
  4. I used to live in Bahrain (in the Middle East). My dad was hit over the head with the butt of a rifle for showing the soles of his feet to the judge in a courtroom. He was on trial because he had crashed his car into some camels and killed a few. His friend, who was in the passenger seat was decapitated by the windscreen when it smashed.

There doesn't need to be a reason to do anything, so long as you don't harm another person in the process. Still, if you do something like burn a flag you should be prepared to justify yourself sensibly or be thought an idiot. I do have justified reason it's called free-speech and is upheld by civilised countries. Free speech is the reason that you shouldn't and won't be prosecuted for burning a flag, but it's nothing like a reason to do it.
  6. There are a few fairly wacky aspects to Catholicism.
  7. Interesting.. I spend a lot of time on my computer or around a tv screen before bed, I generally drink soda all day and up to the point when I go to bed, and I like a nice cigarette before I call it a night. And I rarely have trouble falling asleep :-k But on those rare occasions I do have trouble getting to sleep, sleeping pills are a good idea. As long as you don't let your body become dependent on them, then they're ok. When I'm at my own place I generally spend the last 6 hours I'm awake in front of the computer smoking and drinking beer or whiskey, and I have a hell of a time falling asleep. I've always had a problem sleeping though.

  9. Avoid computer/television screens, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine and the like for a while before bed. I think the most important thing is to reserve your bed specifically for sleep (and sex, so the experts say). I've always had trouble getting to sleep, but I'm staying with my mother just now until the lease on my new flat starts, and there's no desk or chair in this room so I've been using the bed as a kind of all purpose space. It's become hellish trying to fall asleep. EDIT: Unless I'm misunderstanding it seems like you're getting plenty of sleep anyway.
  10. I did have a pill for 6 months and there was no difference. :? damn really? two months for me and it was gone I've never come across an Asian person with skin problems before. All the Asian girls/women I've met have had skin like china dolls. I never had any acne problems, but a friend of mine had really bad acne and got some pill prescribed to him and he cleared up quite well after about 6 months.
  11. I don't think the specifics are important. The reasons for not hitting people, and the exceptions to them transcend gender. There's rarely a good reason to throw the first punch, but if the reason is there then it doesn't matter who the person is.
  12. I'd punch a woman if I had to. The problem isn't the act of hitting, since there are times when it would be acceptable; The problem is when someone uses an advantage in physical strength to dominate someone weaker.

I've always found it interesting that there's procedure and protocol for contacting or dealing with 'the supernatural'. Why would a Ouija Board work better than anything else? Whenever it's tested it fails. I understand that you're supposed to allow some give and take of logic in this kind of thing, but how can you put faith in tools that have always been shown to fail.

Yes you can say that, and no you would not be arrested for it. Err. Yeah, you would be arrested. It's a death threat. Those are illegal. As is burning a flag in the USA. Actually it's not. Congress has tried to make it illegal a number of times, but it's been overturned or denied by the Supreme Court on every occasion. Since the Supreme Court says flag burning is protected by the first and fourteenth amendments, congress have tried to introduce a Flag Desecration Amendment a number of times (most recently in 2006), but it never passed.
  15. From the Auschwitz wiki page: Information regarding Auschwitz was available to the Allies during years 19411943 by accurate and frequent reports of Polish Army Captain Witold Pilecki. Pilecki was the only known person to volunteer to be imprisoned at Auschwitz concentration camp, spending 945 days at Auschwitz not only actively gathering evidence of genocide and supplying it to the British in London by Polish resistance movement but also organizing resistance structures at the camp. Pilecki escaped on April 27, 1943, but the claims of mass killings were generally dismissed as exaggerations. This changed with receipt of the very detailed report of two prisoners, Rudolf Vrba and Alfred Wetzler who escaped on April 7, 1944 which finally convinced most Allied leaders of the truth about Auschwitz in the middle of 1944. Detailed air reconnaissance photographs of the camp were taken accidentally during 1944 by aircraft seeking to photograph nearby military-industrial targets, but no effort was made to analyse them. (In fact, it was not until the 1970s that these photographs of Auschwitz were looked at carefully.) Starting with a plea from the Slovakian rabbi Weissmandl in May 1944, there was a growing campaign to persuade the Allies to bomb Auschwitz or the railway lines leading to it. At one point Winston Churchill ordered that such a plan be prepared, but he was told that bombing the camp would most likely kill prisoners without disrupting the killing operation, and that bombing the railway lines was not technically feasible. Later several nearby military targets were bombed. One bomb accidentally fell into the camp and killed some prisoners. The debate over what could have been done, or what should have been attempted even if success was unlikely, has continued heatedly ever since.
  16. Just the obvious ones; Remain in Light and 77. Enjoying them quite a lot.
  17. I can't see nicotine vaccinations being entirely effective anyway. People like me who have smoked long enough would probably keep smoking, since it's not all about the nicotine, it's just become part of their lifestyle. A vaccination for boredom is more likely to stop people smoking.
  18. Eyes On Me from Final Fantasy VIII. (Shh).
  19. Leonard Cohen - First We Take Manhattan I just got a few Talking Heads albums, so I'll put those on next.
  20. I'm a university student. Once the semester starts again I might look for a job in a book shop somewhere.
  21. The Four Yorkshiremen has always been a favourite of mine.
  22. It's not a vaccination, but Naltrexone has been used to block opiate receptors for some time.

I don't particularly like it, but Space Dye Vest by Dream Theater is a very sad song.
  24. I don't like to post in a thread unless I've read the entire thing. By this I mean I won't attempt to answer any question the original poster might have had. The downside of this is that it stops me posting quite often. Quite often I'll address a specific post within a thread though.
  25. It really would be easy to post any of Maynard's lyrics, he's such a clever guy. Just because I'm listening to it just now and it's semi-indicative of my current mindset, I'll go with Vicarious. [hide=Tool - Vicarious]Eye on the TV 'cause tragedy thrills me Whatever flavor it happens to be Like: "Killed by the husband" ... "Drowned by the ocean" ... "Shot by his own son" ... "She used a poison in his tea, Then (she) kissed him goodbye" That's my kind of story It's no fun til someone dies. Don't look me at like I am a monster Frown out your one face, but with the other (you) Stare like a junkie into the TV Stare like a zombie while the mother holds her child, Watches him die, Hands to the sky cryin "why, oh why?" Cause I need to watch things die from a distance Vicariously, I live while the whole world dies You all need it too - don't lie. Why can't we just admit it? Why can't we just admit it? We won't give pause until the blood is flowin' Neither the brave nor bold Nor brightest of stories told We won't give pause until the blood is flowin' I need to watch things die from a good safe distance Vicariously, I live while the whole world dies You all feel the same so why can't we just admit it? Blood like rain fallin' down Drum on grave and ground Part vampire, part warrior, Carnivore and voyeur Stare at the transmittal. Sing to the death rattle. La, la, la, la, la, la, la-lie (x4) Credulous at best Your desire to believe in Angels in the hearts of men. But pull your head on out (of) your hippie haze And give a listen Shouldn't have to say it all again The universe is hostile So impersonal Devour to survive So it is, so it's always been ... We all feed on tragedy. It's like blood to a vampire. Vicariously, I live while the whole world dies Much better you than I.[/hide] Has any Smiths/Morrissey been posted yet? He's impossible to ignore if you're talking about good lyricists. [hide=The Smiths - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out]Take me out tonight Where theres music and theres people And they're young and alive Driving in your car I never never want to go home Because I haven't got one Anymore Take me out tonight Because I want to see people and i Want to see life Driving in your car Oh, please don't drop me home Because its not my home, its their Home, and I'm welcome no more And if a double-decker bus Crashes into us To die by your side Is such a heavenly way to die And if a ten-ton truck Kills the both of us To die by your side Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine Take me out tonight Take me anywhere, I don't care I don't care, I don't care And in the darkened underpass I thought oh god, my chance has come at last (but then a strange fear gripped me and i Just couldn't ask) Take me out tonight Oh, take me anywhere, I dont care I don't care, I don't care Driving in your car I never never want to go home Because I haven't got one ... Oh, I haven't got one And if a double-decker bus Crashes into us To die by your side Is such a heavenly way to die And if a ten-ton truck Kills the both of us To die by your side Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine Oh, there is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out[/hide] Finally, Dylan at his bitter best. [hide=Bob Dylan - Idiot Wind]Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press Whoever it is I wish they'd cut it out but when they will I can only guess. They say I shot a man named Gray and took his wife to Italy, She inherited a million bucks and when she died it came to me. I can't help it if I'm lucky. People see me all the time and they just can't remember how to act Their minds are filled with big ideas, images and distorted facts. Even you, yesterday you had to ask me where it was at, I couldn't believe after all these years, you didn't know me better than that Sweet lady. Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your mouth, Blowing down the backroads headin' south. Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth, You're an idiot, babe. It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe. I ran into the fortune-teller, who said beware of lightning that might strike I haven't known peace and quiet for so long I can't remember what it's like. There's a lone soldier on the cross, smoke pourin' out of a boxcar door, You didn't know it, you didn't think it could be done, in the final end he won the wars After losin' every battle. I woke up on the roadside, daydreamin' 'bout the way things sometimes are Visions of your chestnut mare shoot through my head and are makin' me see stars. You hurt the ones that I love best and cover up the truth with lies. One day you'll be in the ditch, flies buzzin' around your eyes, Blood on your saddle. Idiot wind, blowing through the flowers on your tomb, Blowing through the curtains in your room. Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth, You're an idiot, babe. It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe. It was gravity which pulled us down and destiny which broke us apart You tamed the lion in my cage but it just wasn't enough to change my heart. Now everything's a little upside down, as a matter of fact the wheels have stopped, What's good is bad, what's bad is good, you'll find out when you reach the top You're on the bottom. I noticed at the ceremony, your corrupt ways had finally made you blind I can't remember your face anymore, your mouth has changed, your eyes don't look into mine. The priest wore black on the seventh day and sat stone-faced while the building burned. I waited for you on the running boards, near the cypress trees, while the springtime turned Slowly into autumn. Idiot wind, blowing like a circle around my skull, From the Grand Coulee Dam to the Capitol. Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth, You're an idiot, babe. It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe. I can't feel you anymore, I can't even touch the books you've read Every time I crawl past your door, I been wishin' I was somebody else instead. Down the highway, down the tracks, down the road to ecstasy, I followed you beneath the stars, hounded by your memory And all your ragin' glory. I been double-crossed now for the very last time and now I'm finally free, I kissed goodbye the howling beast on the borderline which separated you from me. You'll never know the hurt I suffered nor the pain I rise above, And I'll never know the same about you, your holiness or your kind of love, And it makes me feel so sorry. Idiot wind, blowing through the buttons of our coats, Blowing through the letters that we wrote. Idiot wind, blowing through the dust upon our shelves, We're idiots, babe. It's a wonder we can even feed ourselves.[/hide]
