Rest VS walking
-It would take all of 5 minutes and a stop watch to figure it out. Now, you question depends on how far away your destination is. Heres how to know though. If you can recharge the energy needed to reach your destination in less than half the time it takes to walk there, resting and than running is faster. So figure out how far away your destination is, and how long is takes to walk. Then figure out how much energy you would need, and then figure out how long it takes to restor the energy resting. If that time is more than half the time it takes to walk, definatly faster to walk. I have completly ignored the fact that you recharge while walking, and at this time of night can really make up the formula for it. So, if the times are pretty close either way, chances are that walking and running as it rechages normally will be faster.

People who don't understand Barbarian Assault
The most efective way to deal with anti-cannon people is to point out that everyone losses ponits everytime a runner makes it through. And use the qc. After that, leave the team. You don't need to call in the first half second. If I remember rightly though, calling stops you from attacking, so if im attacker I normally do call in half a second. I find calling hardest as a defender, or even worse as a healer. I once solo healed the last 3 waves. I was very thankful for the defenders patience, as I would go entire switches without being able to call. Healing 4 people on the last 2 rounds is tough, and demands all you attention. The defender managed to make it through with minimal reminders (and not complaints, just prompts), and was simply happy I managed to keep everyone alive.

Becoming a Member, Using Debit (Part II)
Canada Has Direct deposit, where you deposit money in a companys bank account and a few days later you get membersjip credit. Thats how I started, which I regreted because I had to wait a few days. You might try asking your parents if you can use their credit card, and then pay them back. Even with interst, I expect credit is the cheepest, all the other methods have handleing fees, so they can cost more (which you can counter by buying larger ammounts of membership, since handleing fees are on a per transaction basis rather than by how much membership you get). Credit also has the benifit of being pretty much instantaneous.

Please. ME NO SPEAK THAT.
I remember going to a french server to loan an item to a friend, who at the time was still perm muted (hes not anymore, which is great because hes probably one of the most polite people I have ever met in the game, and was pretty awsome and helpful even when muted). Thats when I realised that the game can convert QC, so he had been talking french at me but I was getting it in english. This is also when I found out he was french. I can at least say hello in french (bonjour), and this got him excited for a minute. Then I followed it up with what makes up most of my french vocabulary "je ne pas parle un francis" or "I don't speak french". Anyways, we then had a small conversation, that probably looked really odd, where he talked french at me and I spoke back in english. I am considerably better at understanding french, especialy written french, then I am at speaking it. Can't say I have had peoeple intentionaly talk foriegn languages at me once I make it clear I don't understand.

internet dating...
The problem I see with dateing is how people do it. If you solicit your 'lover', it might be called a date, but at least one of you has swaped the bf/gf title in favour of prostitute. Thats what the people who advertise are. Theres money or other gifts involved, and the whole thing is just wrong. But, it does not have to be like that. It can happen that you meet people and start talking, and maybe start to talk more and move on to training together. I've been there, done that. If you look at it, its really no different than getting a normal RS friend. I hate when people are so blunt and tactless that they ask to be friends, or ask if im their friend. You don't do that in real life (normally, and not when you getting to know each other), so I dont see why it should work on the internet. We never declared ourself a couple, it just happened. Before she quit she was a really good friend who happened to be a girl (and yes I had proof), no cyber sex or anything. That'd be disgusting. When she quit, I just moved on. I missed talking, but its not like breaking up or anything. I don't know if she ever considered it more than a good friendship. I never will know either. Personaly, I don't see the point in developing romantic feelings for someone I have never met, and I don't think I can anyways. Even seeing her is not enough. If I ever developed feelings via a picture, that would be lust anyways, not love. I see no problem with haveing a relationship, as in good friendship. There might even be some feelings there. I think seeking out a relationship in RS is wrong, but I see no problem with developing one in as natural a way as possible.

Penguin Hide and Seek Locations!! (Updated 8th July)
I expect the world60pengs will sort themselves out. And your not likely to find another clan thats better (at least not on that world), since they are the only ones who even try to track every penguin on that world at all times.

Most worthwhile skill to train?
Magic is the only worthwhile combat skill to train (because your phraseology suggests training only one skill, so the skill must be useful in standalone situations) because of the non combat applications (mainly teleporting). Agility is also worthwhile for people who like to run around, but youll probably want other levels eventua;ly so you can actualy do something. Theres no point in a processing skill, those only work with a source of income or production skill. So your best bet is a production skill. RC, Hunter, Fishing, Mining and WC would be the top choices.

Farming
I used to hate the skill more than I do now, though I still dislike it. About the only farming I do is ranarr seeds and watermelons (I get seeds from kingdom). I am often short on laws though, and rarely on normal magics anyways, so the house tabs I would consume would be a waste of time (I make them and use my house as normal teles, plus a glory and tele to canifis). This means I don't set up a whole bunch of patches unless there full of things I don't care about. Herb growing normally means me fishign in Catherby while I babysit my ranarr. Someday I'll work out a whole bunch of things to grow that will allow me to grow what I need to pay the farmers, so I can be self sufficient and not worry about stuff dying.

Construction
I will tell you my method, wich has focus on being fast without breaking the bank. I use a demon buttler to get my oak planks, possibly because int eh great scheme of things, 10 per 7 loads is nothing. A buttler is more cost effective though. I also buy my planks because its not much mroe expensive and its at least 20x faster. But, running and making your own planks would save money. I make my cost savings by using SC hammers to double my xp. It might even be slower, because the hammer degrade pretty fast, but at half the regular cost I can definatly afford my buttler and GE planks and still be cheeper than not using hammer and doing everything myself. To be cheep: You MUST use an SC hammer. Cuts costs in half. To be Fast without spending to much extra: Use a butler or demon butler. Buy Oak planks from GE. To be fast and break the bank: Buy mahogany logs.

Guthan's or 68 Summoning?
ooking at the OP's stats, I would say summoning will be more useful to you. I don't think you have the combat stats to be in situations where Guthans will be most benificial. And having that kind of summoning at your levels would be a huge bonus I think (even though my summoning is someplace in the mid 50's I think). Then again, getting guthans and having fun will be alot more...well...fun than getting sunmmoning up IMO. Then again, your talking to someone who hates summoning. I view the leveling as a twisted combination of herblore x2 (seconds + charms), constuction (being forced to pay money), and RuneCrafting (going to alters to make stuff). Of all those, the only skill I semi-regualarly train is construction, possibly because my house makes me feel awsome. Herblore makes me despair, and RC just makes me angry at abysmal xp rates.

Can I do the Melzar section of dragon slayer?
If you can kill a lesser demon with 1/3 to 1/2 an inventory of food, you can do the maze I think. Melzar is melee like everything else in there, and not the hardest opponent. A word of advice. They key drops are not random. One monster of each type has it as a 100% drop, so try to keep track of each creature you kill as it respawns to aviod killing the same one twice. And I am assuming this is still true, I know thats how it worked when I did the quests, and I see no reason to change it.

Mod Sophie Leaves RS
Aww late with the pic I guess. Figures :wall:

Mod Sophie Leaves RS
Today Mod Sophie did a bit of hide and seek to celebrate her last day at Jagex. I am under the impression she is leaving to continue studies at university, specificaly computers & management. One of the few Jmods I have talked too, and she was a pretty nice person. As a going away gift, she gave everyone at the party (a few minutes of chatting at the last hide and seek spot) this photo op, which might be a first in the history of RuneScape. [hide=The First RS Level 1][/hide]

Have you ever gotten lost in the Maze Random Event?
My first time I couldn't see the [bleep]ing doors, and I didn't eeven look for them becuase every single pannle of wall has an open option. I got 0% on that one. I have gotten in the 80% range when I get teled close to the centre.

Closest Altar to Fairy Ring?
If you mean a prayer alter, the DJP probably is number one. If you mean a rune alter, water and nature are closest to fairy rings, but water would be faster to use the bank because the one in Zanaris adds too much to the trip. The cosmic alter is probably number 3, though that would be completly pointless.

Malignius Mortifier..
I would gladly give up summoning for necromancy any day, because necromancy is just freaking awsome. Summoning skeletons after the quest is also quite awsome, and I just wish I could have more than one pot at a time. I remember once someone was saying they could summon the undead, and did the claw emote thing with hand in the ground. I got my seed pot out of the bank, walked over and literaly summoned the undead. Quite fun. Hes not the only necromancer. Theres one in the necromancer tower, one in the bottom of the wizard guild, and Melzar is also a (formerly sane) necromancer. I am sure I am missing a few others too.

Goldfarming Banned in China
This means that prosecution may become possible, a huge boon to both the gameing and software industrys. Allow me to sound really calus and awful for a minute, and let my practical side speak. The upside to all the job losses is that this might facilitate a population drop that could be of great benifit to china. Yeah, that sounds awful, but thats what you get when you separate the emotional and practical thinking processes.

Why Don't People Explore Anymore?
I guess I cheated a bit before becomeing a member. I had read alot of the members huides here on tip.it. Well, maybe I read them all at one point or another. I never expected to become a member, and I resisted for 3 years (until the Varrock museaum). In that time I read through most of the quest guides because I wanted to know the story line. When I did get members, the first thing I wanted to try was Castle Wars. I teleported as far west as I could (Camalot), and followed the road from there. After desciding that Castle wars was not as awsome as I expected, I wen't off to visit the museaum that has caused my membership in the first place. Then I created some of my first ever goals in RS. I wanted to complete the museaum. I wanted access to the Fairy Rings. I wanted access to the spirit trees. I wanted access to the gnome gliders. These 4 missions determined which quests I did. I also picked out other quests along the way that were easy, had good rewards, or had something cool about them (or the reward, such as initiate armour). To this end I gained access to mortania. I also did the quest for herblore. Wanting accesss to things gave we my a starting point for questing. By picking something I wanted, I figured out what quest I would need. Then, I raised my skills to meet the reqirements. In this way, I discovered members. I use the quest guides rarely, often just to know where to start, what the rewards are, and what items to bring. So there was plenty of discoevry. And sometimes, I would just go someplace and see what I could get myself into. Where for the museaum I had needed to look up quests to know what ones gave kudos, I saved mortania for my own wanderings, and descided to just wander. So after priest in peril I hit Canifis, the first place I had been that I legitimatly knew nothing about. I guess members can be overwhelming. I coped by picking a goal (well, 4 of them), and using that as a jummping off point to get me going.

Ghosts in the Grand Exchange
I once appeared swimming through the south corridor on the ground floor of lumbridge castle while using the agility shortcut through the river between lumbridge swamps and al-kharid, so this is actualy possible. I wish I had a pic, but I was to stunned to get one. Other valid theories include: Fog + npc Fog + players Making up total BS. EX: [bleep]e Using Acid And Shrooms

RuneScape Mainpage
Wow Mike. Thats pretty freaking old, as in more than 5 years...thats classic era that is. I am fond of the old warrior and skeleton. And I have never liked any login as much as the one with those flames that created the rune symbols. I miss those torch things. From one of the god letters, that particular screen actualy represented a dorway from our world to Gielinor. The gates were only passable by speaking your name and a special phrase unique to each person (ie password). The idea that we pass through the gates (I forget the name) and become our player, and then travel back on log out (which is why we disapear on logout, we have traveled back to reality, so we are our avatar in this world) has always had a speacial meaning to me. This idea is also why I so very rarely play accounts other than my main. To do so feels like creating different incarnations of my own self, which is just odd. Thanks for bringing back memories

Saradomin Sword still a good stength training weapon?
SS is till best for focused str training, but anyone with a defender will find the whip should perform better against high defense monsters, unless said monster is weak to crush attacks.

Organized or messy?
I call my style organizes mess. Basicly I have strictly organized tabs (in terms of whats in what), with the exception being some crossover in the jewerly (and other stuff) and main battle gear tabs. Problem is some jewlery is main battle gear, so it gets stored in the battle gear tab. Mostly thats my furry, a ROL, explorer ring, and any dragonstone jewlery, but lately a forinthry brace seems to have made its way in, and the ectophial is starting to take up residence. As for my main tab, the top rows are strict, probably because I never use anything up there except for money and gold bars (the first 2 slots). The bottom 4 rows are basicly organized by last usage date, unless its a stack of stuff in which case it just slowly moves up in the tab until I move it down because I can't find it. I am seriously considering some re categorization to minimize the number of tabs that I need to scroll, and to reflect the fact that my second tab, which is essentaily costume/other armour (I have 3 armour tabs) has become the second largest and has a host of items that shouldn't be there.

Noobs say the funniest things!
I met the unluckiest player ever a few days ago. I wanted some nostalgia and made a new account. While getting my smithing up to make full bronze for combat training (about 4 hours, though I could have mined iron/clay, and bought bronze bars with money to make it faster assuming anyone sells bronze bars). To have some fun, I made the account female. Anyways, some guy sees a level 3 girl with no items on (cant weild a mithril pick), and assumes I'm some newbie. So he tries to get me to trade him to help him transfer money between accounts. Maybe now is a good time to mention my main is a modded account. So I am thinking 'dude, this just isn't your day'. So, I tell him to wait a minute and log out. As luck would have it, my main was pretty close by. I know I can do anything, but I thought I might startle him for some fun. So, I run to where the guy is waiting. I tell him that item tradeing is against the rules. He tells me about how his main is combat 134 (I am 96 on free world at the time). I realise he just dosent get it so I say "dude. You jus tried to money transfer using a mods alt". He just stands there for a second as it sinks in, probably looks at the chat and sees the crown, has an 'oh [cabbage]' moment, and makes a run for it. Made my day. What where the chances he would actualy hit a mod alt instead of a newb or skiller.

9th June 2009 - Run Energy Update / Patch Notes
Good, only offers made during the glitch were affected, and same to lent items. Makes me feel better. I was under the impression that offers were randomly wiped, but this makes more sense. Lesson of the Day: If you must log in after an update and find out theres glitching going on, then either log out or go hide in some corner of the world (normally I would say POH's but I guess that wasen't an option), like RuneCrafting alters or something. Don't trade, don't bank, don't lend. And don't expect Jagex to roll back 37 minutes of rampant glitching.
