  1. I've seen people who aren't that far off from abc's post. I think I hate the word "pl0x" more than anything. I read it as plox (plawcks). What on earth is plox? It has almost no phonetic similarity to the word 'please' (unleass [zero]-x or ox is now pronounced as 'ease' instead of the word 'ox' which it spells). I can handel abbreviations that are related to the word (such as plz/pls), but pl0x just raises my blood pressure. I finaly found a way to respond to people who don't use the world map: Randox: And lo, the players of runescape discovered the world map Randox: And they also discovered the intigrated search function. Like holy [bleep]ing jesus (this is years of frustration talking), theres a button for it in the freaking game =D> :wall: It helps you with spelling too :!: I could give you 20 lines of directions, or you could just click the damn button and see for yourself
  2. [hide=big pic] This makes me utterly sad..We should hunt down this person, and beat them for not just killing, but torturing and then ruthlessly obliterating the english language. o.o [/hide] My BS translator just turned into a mushroom cloud and I think my neighbor phoned in a bomb thret :wall: dust button? That whole post is just one big WTF.
  3. I prefer DD's. I hate the anticipation of new updates, and I find having a short term deadline makes that worse than the vague deadlines offered by DD's. Besides, the diaries are far more interesting.
  4. I would agree with this. Cool names are only cool if people see them. Colecting dust is not cool, and people who do this dont deserve to have the names. When you dont even know what names you have, you need to give them up. To the above, note the has not gotten past tutorial island part. If you take a year break and have not completed the island yet, you can afford to start over.
  5. Group questing is only good as an option. Shield of Arrav was the last f2p quest I completed. Altimately, I did the quest solo. I had helped a friend do the quest yet could never claim the reward, so I finaly found a work around allowing me to do the entire quest. This was all back in the day when a f2p'er could have a bank space account, in other words long before the RWT updates. When I got members, I was eligible to do Heroes in about a month. It took 4 months before multiple friends and a competiton cajoled me to even try. Why? Because by now I had unhealthy disdain for the average player, and all my friends had done the quest already (except one whom I competed against who is also black arm like me). 4 months later I decided to try, so without a friend I did all teh quest that I could. I then logged into a questing world and was lucky enough to meet a pheonix member who had already done the quest to help me out. Heoros was a more dreaded quest than Legends. What does that say on my opinion of group questing? I do like going to ape atoll on w100, and for my own purposes of questing vicariously through others, have helped several people complete that quest. I normally avoid doing tunnel escorts, I just act as a city guide.
  6. I would rather have a chance at real updates or teh more interesting DDs than a BTS. WE survived a long time without them, and all they did was make me want something I couldn't have. I didn't even notice the lack of BTS. But now that there gone, I feel...better. I like a goos supprise. Nothing like a big update or entire skill from no where. Of course the DDs might provide this same anticipation, but hopefully with vague deadlines \
  7. And the higher level trees have a smaller chance of being completly chopped down. Only normal trees are limated to 1 log per tree (ie 100% chance of being completly chopped down).
  8. My theory is that snuggle is a tipiter's alt, and they are just having fun.
  9. While I won't deny manipulation is an issue, the 'waves' are a natural phenomenon. Eventualy a price rises enough that a whole bunch of people decide to sell. This causes the price to drop causing more selling and more dropping. Eventualy alot of people think its cheep enough to buy again causing teh price to stall or rise, thus causing more buying and more rising. This continues indefinatly though overal trends of up or down are not uncommon.
  10. What they actualy said, was that the code for pairing combatants was not working, hence why they disabled it. Otherwise they woudl have just updated it when they had fixes ready. There is an active issue with the game code, hence the diabling.
  11. I can't convey how happy I would be if I had a new contenant to explore. Even if it was the size of the f2p world I woudl be ecstatic. If we keep adding content as dungeouns, which seems to be the trend since we ran out of geneal map a few years ago, RuneScape is just going to be all dungeouns. Make the map bigger people. The ammount of story lines left open is ludicrus. If it weren't for fan sites, we would all forget the storylines between quests. I have only gone as far as MEP1, and I don't have a sweet clue what the first quest in the series is or what its about (something about a farmer and going over the wall and rotten tomatoes I think). Is that wat Jagex wants? For us all to forget all the lonre when the next quest in the series comes out...3 years later? Then we get the summer 2 part series, with a story line that is very simple, that was completed in what...2 months? MORE MAP and FINISH SOME [bleep]ING QUEST STORY LINES ALREADY. Well, maybe they keep them all open for a reason. Atleast advance teh storys please.
  12. I contend that for a warrior to use armour outside of melee is hybriding, because you are using something reqireing combat skills outside of your class. Using another classes armour counts as hybriding just as much as using another classes weapon. The OP has even pointed out that most mage offensive capability is in their armour. Using mage/range armour in melee combat means that you are hybriding and thus disqualified from standard melee overpowered rants. However, the OP did point out the reason melee is so succesful. It has alot less to do with specs and spell effects and all of that. The key to melee is that in most casses, all offensive abilitys are contained in the weapon itself. Short of the few pices of armour that give some stat boosts for offense, a whip will hit the enemy wether you wear rune armour or not. Range weapons and magic spells suffer serious penalties if they try to combine armour. Armandyl armour thankfuly has negative melee bonuses, leaving it for rangers and the most dedicated melee style mage hunters (mages have weak armour so it makes no difference really). Within there own combat domains, mage destroys melee. Its melees flexability that makes it the winner.
  13. I guess only the broken pick part gets repaired since all the handels are identical (I once had a broken rune axe head that I picked up off the ground (the silly owner logged out too). Then one day when my addy pick came apart and I had the level for rune (but not the money :wall: ) I made myself a rune pick from the pieces. Contrary to popular belief, Jagex is not collectively stupid or unobservant. They take a while to do stuff, simply due to a need for caution (because of the consequences if they mess up) and owing to the sheer size of their company. If one of the low downs notices something, it gets mentiond to their boss and enter teh que of ideas and fixs (or thats how I imagine it works). Basicly the people who notice things aren't always the ones with the power to fix it. This has led to Jagex being realisticly slow. The only things that actualy garner quick responses are major bug abuse, and even thats to slow. With the penguin incident several players across several of the RSOF forums were literaly screeming for Jagex to take notice of the bug. Granted they responded much faster than they did during 666. My point? People think Jagex won't notice, if only for a little bit. Maybe they will make it a real rare for a couple days, allowing people to cheat people out of money and then laugh as they remove the item. Thats what is happening, they'll just be removed a bit earlier.
  14. I wan't more elemental workshop quests. Possibly the quest line I wan't advanced the most. I really like working with all the machinery. I wan't more. Elemental Workshop IV shounds like a nice choice.
  15. I once saw Blue_Angel. I am not sure she knew that here name was funny since she didn't respond when I said so. For those who don't know, 'blue angel' is a name for fart lighting (that act of lighting farts on fire). I like my name, though its more of that 'original' name than cool. I like it because it should be very hard to mispronounce. There are only 2 ways to say it, and there is little difference between ran-dox and rand-ox. Note that I consider the former to be correct. I can tell how people say my name because I am almost invariable called 'ran' or 'rand'. I chuckled at 69master, and at meganfox11 (after I stopped reading it as megafox11) I have seen 'Mega_Fax' before. Mmmm...megan fox. What was it...'if a guy says he would cut off his hand to *be* with her for one night, hes telling the truth'.
  16. Just general advice for life. If you are going to write a letter to someone you don't know, make it a short letter. People who don't know you can't be bothered to read a bunch of long leters, especialy if there not saying anything nice, no mater how true they are. If you can get it to a paragraph or two, you can't say as much, but theres more chance of it being read. Also, the more polite you are the more likely you will be taken seriously. Just a tip for anyoen who does leter writing campains (which I don't, I just know this kinda stuff). Taking a quick look at the article, I think the guy got the important stuff right. Bear in mind this is going to read by a generation that largely couldn't care about the workings of the game. The general idea is good enough for the articles purpose. The second thing I notice is real money buys sword and armour to make him more powerful in the game. What we left out is that buying gold with real money is not only against the rules, its also a violation of real world laws in several countrys. Jagex owns the game and everything in it, so it is illeagal to sell their stuff just about everyplace.
  17. Bear in mind that magic is often getting compared to warriors running around in black dhide, which technicaly is also hybriding because you are using the ranged skill to wear our of class armour. A pure mage should be able to take out a warrior with metal or no armour without much issue.
  18. People under level 100 (combat) are a majority. Also, not that many people have many high levels in any other skills when you consider the number of players. All the high level stuff seems to lead to things such as the GWD. The GWD may be awsome, but we can't have alot of things in the game like that. Jagex does need to cater to everyone, and keeping the lower and mid levels happy keeps the money flowing. Besides, hes not actualy the content developer. He already said that. His job is mostly policy, giving the company direction and some basic idea of what they are trying to accomplish. Surely some people at Jagex do have more considerable accounts, and hopefuly in content development. Besides, the CEO is a grown man. Even if hes level 60 he is not going to be among teh group going for all the stuff that looks cool and would completly suck. I think this guy could do alot of good. He's pormised change, and has not indicated that it will be in a disaterous direction. Give him teh benifit of the doubt until you see reason to do otherwise.
  19. I know of 2 secluded spots. They are never are rarely visited (one is never, other is rarely). The enchanted valley is accessable only by fairy ring, and since no one ever sees this place, only people who have seen a complete ring list or randomly hit the code know of its existance. The only thing to do there is fight tree spirits (can't cut those trees down, they spawn every time you try). The spirits don't drop anything. The second location is the base of baxtorian falls. Sometimes people wander down there because they misclicked and then saw your white dot on the map. Not good if you need to pee. There is a third location. The plane where the grail is, from some quest. Has a castle and whatnot. People come through here sometimes (very rare) as the ring can be used with a wistle to function as a fairyring into brimhaven (more items are needed to go the other way). Heres the pics. First one is baxtorian, the other 2 are enchanted valley. Hmmm. I still had dragon when those were taken. I miss that armour  but Guthans is just better and teh d plate was too expensive (probably best I chose guthans). Oh and teh rabits in the lower left corner.
  20. I once saw a suggestion for exploration. Looked kinda cool, and would probably be alot of fun. The issue I had was that its based on the slayer skill, as in tasks. So the skill would be really fun...until you started reepeating tasks. At that point the skill would pretty much blow. The skill I would wan't? Automotive Engineering (cars ftw!). Just kidding. That would be cool for all of an hour. The way the mod phrased that post "...which skill we'll be adding..." as opposed to 'which skill we would be adding' suggests that a skill is on the way. And the reference to clues means they already exist. I do wonder is this will have to do with the museum. That would be nice, though it would make the exploration skill all the more likely. Maybe the museum will just open up a new area of the map (thats what I hope for). Whatever the skill may be, it will work, Jagex does make sure of that. Even the skills I hate do work, I just don't like them. I wonder if it might be a simple skill. I doubt it. Jagex has never added a simple skill to the game, the only ones that are simple are some of the original skills. I consider the most simple skill to be firemaking (perhaps HP is simpler, but personaly I don't train HP it just levels up every once in a while). Resorce gathering skills like fishing and woodcutting are also quite simple (firemaking is simpler because it can be done just about anyplace). I don't really wan't a new skill that rivals such skills as consruction, summoning, and farming in complexity, and I most certainly do not want another freaking money sink skill (I don't care if summoning can make money, I don't want another burden on my limated capital)
  21. It will die down eventualy. But soul wars offers a real reward, and you get points even if you don't win. I don't think I will go back to cw, except maybe to get a full set of decorative armour for my POH. I normally get my butt kicked in cw, and it will probably be the same in sw once the hype dies down and the server can send more than 5 fps when you enter into one of the places everyoen fights. Right now I stand there, turn on retribution and try to collect bones for burying. Sometimes I kill someone who is 20 levels lower than I am. I think SW could be better once fewer people go. No flag holding, tactics being more critical. I don't know. There both good games, but I don't feel like I am totaly wasting my membership when I play SW (which I have done 4 times so far). I prefer distractions and Diversions to minigames any day of the week though.
  22. Randox replied to pureprayer's topic in Rants
Forgot the part about "PROFIT" I just dont like the Idea of charms from minigames. I would be 100% ok if it was experience (its just me im "off"). The only way you should be able to get charms is through monster hunting. I think with this game we might have a "pest control" with charm type rewards that you can just do half-assed and get charms. So you would be ok with it if we could completly bypass the whole making the pouches, buying the charms, etc.? At least this way we still need to actualy train the skill. Personaly, I would expect everyone who kills for charms to be thankful for this because it could mean less people at things like water fiends. Free xp is ok but free charms are not? That and you have a pattern of one. Jagex added one minigame providing charms (PC does not count because those charms are secondarys) therfore they will add more minigames that provide charms. And by adding one minigame that provides charms at a snails pace, they will add one faster than monster hunting? Nah. They just needed to offer a reward good enough for people to actualy play the game without feeling like their completly wasting their time.
  23. Resistant implies a chance of succes. There not only imune, casting a fire spell at the fire mage or an air spell at the air guy (same pattern for the other two) actualy heals them somewhat (or did last time I tried, which was months ago. It is interesting to note that while in combat, you will be logged of after a minute and a half if you don't do anything during combat. Guess you could put a weight on an arrow key, but this will be obvious AFK'ing, and 'I fell asleep' just won't cut it.
  24. This is going to make me sound like a complete [wagon] but it needs saying: Players think they can get away with this kind of thing because, honestly, there right. They can. People like you who cave in and give them what they wan't teach them they can beg to get what they want. This is like giving a child everything they wan't when they throw a tantrum. I had a firend who youngest sister was treated like this (though I woudl be tempted to give in two, listnign to that for more than a minute gave you violent urges directed at the source). She was probably the most awful child I have ever met, and can only hope she grew up to be a much more tolerable person. If people didn't give free stuff to people who beg, then people wouldn't beg. People do it because it works. If someone ever begs you for stuff in the game and there obviosly not just a new player in need of some guidance, then just let the natural reaction of anger take its corse. You don't need to be an [wagon] about it, but thats probably more effective. If someone wan't to judge you based on you not lending out an item because they demand it, know they are just manipulating. That person probably didn't think you were nice at all, hes probably done it a few times before. To him your just another sucker he can take advantage of.
  25. When you do the game where you unlock the piety and chivalry prayers (and cammy respawn), use a hally during the fight. I used one dose of restore and no food (and honestly, I didn't need the restore). If you can get knight your fightign between 2 dummys, you can run out infront of one and hally him but he can't hit back. This does NOT work if you are between the dummys and hes infront. Step 1: _____ OXOEO O=dummy ___=wall E=enemy X=you Step 2: _____ O OEO X I know thats off topic, but considering you can do what can be a costly fight without using any food or pots, its worth it. You will need an attack over 75 though if you wan't to finish the fight before you die of old age. Hallys aren't fast and the have limated attack modes (unlike spear they can't crush, stab and slice), so you'll be taking a while to kill the guys who are strong versus an attack style you don't have (I think thats 4 or 5 out of 8). The second last guy takes ages. Still, keep this in you head.
