Who's demanding that we leave immediately? Maliki has asked for a timetable but that can be as long as we need it to be. A timetable is a bad idea. Politicians in America who call for one are hypocrites. Back in 05-06 Senators Biden, Clinton, Obama, and Reid were all against a timetable. Once we begin to drawdown after Patreus's assessment I'd bet the Maliki will ease up on a timetable.

Even when you consider wealth and opportunities? What would be better for you - a child adopted by two gays in 'white collar' jobs, or a heterosexual couple living off benefits from the state? I'm not suggesting more gays are in those jobs than heterosexuals, or heterosexuals have trouble getting into such positions, it is merely a hypothetical comparison. Moreover, if you choose the latter option, why should everyone else (pro-gay rights campaigners included) pay the price for your prejudice? Why would someone living off welfare adopt? I don't think they even can. All I'm saying is that gays should be able to adopt if it takes a kid out of a foster home or orphanage and the gays are relatively normal(not going out and having sex with 10+ guys in one night) but that aside it's better for a kid to be with a normal family. This isn't a civil rights issue. It's about whats in the best interest of the kids.

I agree that the school shouldn't be relied on, and if I knew that parents were always responsible enough to tell their children about contraceptives, condoms, and even any sexual education (which, some don't), then there would be no need to get the school involved. Fact remains, people like my mom are irresponsible and do not tell their kids about the alternatives. It's a farce to say they "hand out condoms". They give them to the kids if they ask for them, which they should. Well, I support planned parenthood, so :P Had the condom been invented earlier in time, there would have been more stonings occurring in Biblical times. You think there isn't anything wrong with a 12 year old getting an abortion behind her parents back?

We should have bombed iran a while ago. They are killing American troops. Thats enough for me. I mean I remember watching some thing with just William Delahunt by himself and one guy in an empty room. He was trying to find out what the disastrous consequences would be of bombing iran. The school shouldn't be relied on at all. Your mom should be able to do whatever she wants. People go to far. I'm not against an abstinence plus but some schools take it to far. They hand out condoms to 12 year olds like candy. And if the 12 year olds don't want condoms planned parenthood is down the street ready to give an abortion behind their parents back. You do that kind of stuff and you get that school in massachusetts where they have like 20 girls pregnant. Luckily they have a daycare center at the school. If I ever have a daughter she's never going out. I'm gonna be like martin lawrence in bad boys 2.

Wait, what? :wall: Japan beat russia in the 1905 war which made russia ally with France. That made Germany nervous so they came up with their plan for war with both France and russia. The plan was because russia took so long to mobilize they would beat France first then russia. When russia began to mobilize without France and germany at war it messed up the plan. So if Japan hadn't beat russia there wouldn't have been a war. Al Queda was never in Iraq. It wasn't until America "took over" that they started popping up there. Thats irrelevant to whether or not to withdraw prematurely.

They are taking this airport stuff way to far. It wasn't enough to not be able to take on a bottle of water now this. All the while there are still gaping holes in security. I have a friend who works at SFO for United. She said that there are ways for employees to get around security and get to the gates. Thats what DHS should be doing not this garbage.

Can anyone (foster care aside) give me a good reason why it is in the best interest of a child to be raised by gays? Kids need a mom and a dad. I know it doesn't always work out that way with divorce and stuff but isn't that what we should aim for?

Turn off all electricity you can. Plug all your stuff into power strips and turn the whole strip off when your done because some things use power even when off. Drive less, take the bus, walk, no bottled water, eat less meat, and buy those squiggley lightbulbs.

Our debt has gone up by 3 trillion while the war has cost 600 billion. Its things like medicare, social security and welfare that increased the debt. Because Bush has been pandering to the dems and won't veto anything.

You should reduce your carbon footprint anyway. The question is what lengths you will go to. Global warming is a fact. What's up for debate is how much of it is caused by humans, what's coming next, and what we can do. Some research shows that up to 35% of warming since the 1970's is due to increased solar output. Plus cosmic rays or urban heat islands. Global Warming isn't going to be as bad as as most people say. Some scientists have said that climate sensitivity is as low as 1.6 degrees. Sice there's been .8 of warming there wouldn't be much left. That being said we shouldn't panic and cut our own wrists. There's a difference between walking a few miles and paying thousands of dollars for a hybrid or solar panels.

We didn't go in solely for humanitarian reasons. That's not the only reason for staying either.

Tougher gun control laws probably won't do much. At least where I am it would be easier for me to get a gun illegally than legally. They should enforce the laws on the books and shut down crooked gun shops. I forget the number but some crazy high number of guns used in crimes come from just a handful of gun stores.

Well I don't know about australia but in America we have rights including the right to defend ourselves.
