  1. I, too, love the immense socio-economic factors of RuneScape. I like how F2P can be compared to the ghetto - most people scam, beg or cheat. Then there are a few of the good ole hard working poor people, the occasional rich bloke. Begging, however, has definitely become waaay too commonplace. I won't play anymore if I lose membership simply because I can't find anyone in F2P to even have a conversation with that doesn't involve 'free stuff plz'. Guess what? There are many F2P who are legitimate non-beggar players out there. I'm one, and there are many more. Please, instead of leaving RS when your membership dies for any reason, come find us!!! A fair point, but the only distribution of wealth from the wealthy to the poor in RuneScape is the OoC's highly damaging 'Newbie Appreciation Day'. In which they mindlessly give out free things, teaching newbs that they don't have to do a damn thing and they'll get free stuff. :/ I hadn't heard of the existence of this previously. But now that I have, I am greatly sickened by the OoC's existence. I think a bunch of us legitimate good players need to go ruin the OoC's "fun" and show them that what they are doing is awfully wrong. The OoC is definitely teaching 'new players' and 'players who don't think they can do anything without bringing others down' something very wrong with what they are doing and they are being a part of ruining this game us good players all know and like called "RuneScape"... Excuse me while I finish up reading and posting. I must take a break. -.- ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  2. 811 ... Eh, thanks. : ~Mr. Devnull
  3. And sometimes you need an idea to help you get started with producing a framework in the first place to show to everyone. 'Nuff said. Now, can we please stop harassing this kid and give him thoughts and ideas? AT LEAST BE WILLING TO GIVE SOMEONE A CHANCE!!! ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  4. 809 ***Mutilates The_Dragon_Reborn for trying to mess up the counter... :x ...*** Could you please not try to throw the count off? :-s It really ain't too much to ask! 8-) ~Mr. Devnull
  5. This first part has been covered too much. No further word is needed. Regarding that second definition, it would only be illegal in the eyes of the law if yettti stole parts of the code used to handle/display/generate the map, as well as failed to put a copyright notice within the map program that the map data belongs to Jagex and their RuneScape program. Now if yettti produces entirely original code for handling/displaying/generating the map that only produced the same effect visually, and did not steal the actual code as written by Jagex, as well as made sure to put in a copyright notice that the map data belongs to Jagex and their RuneScape program, then he would not be in violation of any copyright laws. In fact, yettti would be safely within the limits of "Fair Use" laws. Also, if you notice, Jagex has put out a map that anyone can download and use, and for the most part, as they see fit for a reference to getting around, as long as they would not steal the ideas behind RuneScape. As a Late Note: As I have been typing this post, something RandomNumbers123 has noted says a lot very well. If something like this were illegal, then stuff like what RuneHQ and Tip.It provides would also be illegal, like the special calculators they provide. Now, enough of this. Back to the actual topic. What ideas can we give yettti for a nice piece of Non-"Rule Violating" software to develop? Mr. D. V. Devnull
  6. Not really. It just gives a way to say something about yourself. It would not be a community page with things like a guest comment stack and music display and such. :? BTW, I personally don't like myspace after some legal problems I have been hearing about. :( ... So I am glad that an idea like this would just be a quick blurb of what you wanted to say and not really much anything more. :) ~Mr. Devnull
  7. Better idea, have both showing. :) ~Mr. Devnull
  8. I'd love to see the movie of you breaking the map limits!!! ~Mr. Devnull
  9. 423 ... ***kills xtremsport1 by slicing them to little bits*** HOW MANY TIMES must I clobber people for messing up the thread count?!?!? 'Person who messed up count' ... :wall: :x ... 'D_V_Devnull, smacking them on the wall' ... ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  10. Depending on what happens, I might come to this event, either as spectator or actual combatant hunting down the fugitives. Time will tell. I will watch this thread, however. Oh, and BTW, I think the date of the event should be a Saturday, with the time of event placed either before or after the TET event, or maybe set on a day when the TET is doing a P2P-only event. That way, you can gain as many people who seriously want to be in the event as possible. :) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  11. Pokemama, you just earned my $25 of mental thoughts in agreement with you. When I go AFK, be it Tip.It Chat or some other chat like SpinChat.com (mentioned just for discussion purposes, being that anyone that chats will normally use more than one chat site), I TRY to leave some hint that I have gone AFK, especially if I will be away more than 30 minutes. I feel that what you are asking is fully respectable, especially as it would allow for doing away with the "no idling rule"... =D> ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  12. 426 ... Must ... keep ... the ... thread ... moving ... !!! ~Mr. Devnull
  13. Exactly what I suggested. Just give my post a re-read. LOL  You'll see what I mean. :) I'll fix my post from earlier just a hair to clarify. Thanks for making me see I needed to clarify a little. ~Mr. Devnull
  14. It sounds like Jagex has a bug to fix. :( You should not be able to hop from P2P to F2P while in a members' item like those Varrock Jail cages. :( ~Mr. Devnull
  15. Just to note: F2P'ers can't teleport beggars away, and some can't teleport away from the beggars. Worse, beggars should have learned to read the game manual and understand that those who have good levels put a lot of time into it, especially the legitimate players. ~Mr. Devnull
  16. Okay, I am giving up reading the first 6 pages of this thread... Too much to read anyway. And here's my thought/opinion/etc. on this...: To the legitimate players and The Editor, I say this: Another great article, The Editor!!! You've summed it up rather well, to be very honest. There IS NO REASON for beggars to exist on RuneScape. The beggars really should learn to either play right, or give up and leave. It really does not do the legitimate players any good to have to deal with people trailing them around, driving them nuts constantly, period. I personally don't put up with it anymore and use legal tactics to get rid of those who wish to trail me, using the ignore function on them if they somehow defeat my basic tactics. To the beggars, I say this: Straighten up AND play right, OR LEAVE RuneScape! I and many others have had it with you, and who knows? We legitimate players may soon start a movement to have you erased from the game! :x ... (For all those finding this paragraph questionable or upsetting, please note, this is a thought shared by many extremely upset people who play RuneScape properly and correctly, myself included. I'm just voicing it and really don't need to be flamed. :? ... I personally needed to get it off my chest. Anger eats people and makes them do stupid things, which I don't need to be doing.) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  17. Would help for any situation, actually. I personally suggest that it would be displayed right above the player, though, with a "xx(current)/yy(max limit)" design, along with the "hp green/red" meter... Would make it easier to see character location, among other things. I definitely support this or some variant of it! :) ... Sadly, I am F2P, so I can't just walk into the official forums and give it my vote. :( ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  18. I suggest people use their heads before falling for that scam . =; x2 ... Agreed. There are too many scammers out there, and they all need to be dealt with, not just simply forced to use other methods. :notalk: ~Mr. Devnull
  19. Any chance you could make a 3D Map program that people could use to view RuneScape from interesting angles? ~Mr. Devnull
  20. It is only illegal if it modifies the RS client or controls it in some way. This is a well-known fact. Having a map program or other program sitting on the side that does not directly interact with the game client is fine. :) ~Mr. Devnull
  21. I concur to the 3rd power :P LOL  ... I think you're both confused. From Buckeyemange's analysis a few posts back, it looks like Tip.It's Times could be a committee-done thing. ~Mr. Devnull Well, if all the clues are accurate and its only 1 person i know who it is I'd love to know who then. :P  ~Mr. Devnull
  22. Sort of. A piece of RuneScape-related software is only really illegal if it can break one of the paramount 13 rules... Especially ones like #4 (Bug Abuse) or #7 (Macroing) ... Long as the piece of software doesn't actually touch your in-game character (and the RS java applet for that matter), and only gives you a guide to get around with (like the RuneHQ Flash-driven map system) or to gain an idea for what you could do next in-game (like some people's ideas for character dress styles), you'll be fine. :) BTW, my opinion is based off a lot of what I have read in these forums and seen out across the web, as well as my own analysis of such. :P ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  23. Ah yes, but the title "Wow cool" suggests that there is something cool inside. =P~ May I suggest a title like "Wow, Cool, Filter Fixes!" then??? :-s Just a thought. :-k :) ~Mr. Devnull
  24. 428 ... Not even close ... This thread will need a lot of steam to get to "0" ... ~Mr. Devnull
