  1. Hm I know metal is relative, but I don't consider Van Halen to be metal. ;] Is Bon Jovi metal? ;d
  2. If they are depressed in the medical term of the word, that won't be nowhere near enough. They need drugs, and even after they think they're cured, there's still the danger of relapse. Basically depression is a life long illness. The most brave thing a person can do is cope with it without letting it affect too much of his/her life.
  3. When I had to get up very early (6. 30 kind of early >__<) during highschool I did a lot of idiot things. Once I set out for school in my slippers and realized it when I was already out of the apartment and climbing down the staircase. Another time, I forgot my backpack, but luckily my mother noticed it before I left the house. Another time I went to school with the previous day's stuff in my backpack, so I had to explain in every class why I didn't have my homework or my books.
  4. Slightly off topic but I have no idea why Panic! At the Disco is even considered emo music... it has clever lyrics, not emo imo. And the melodies makes me feel quite cheerful. And yeah, it's a good band.
  5. Right, I'm against censorship of any kind in art. First, because I dislike puritanism. Second, because I haven't seen a single credible argument as to why censorship is beneficial to society. It's just another case of 'oh, let's put the blame for all society's evils on X'. In this case, X is swearing. The only effect censorship has is to create difficulty in the artist getting his/her message across. Whatever his/her message may be. The basic right to freedom of speech should include the right to express yourself in whatever way you desire. There was a nice episode of Millennium on the subject of censorship in television...I dunno if any of you watch this show. But it was about a censor who went mad and tried to 'censor' real life, going around telling people this or that was unacceptable, and ended up getting shot by a guy who unfortunately didn't follow 20th century fox guidelines. :P
  6. Exactly. There's the Drake equation that proves that the probability of that is very large indeed: The result of it leads to a great possibility of the existence of life in the universe other than on Earth. So, it's a scientific formula that proves that aliens exist. I don't know why many scientists are still skeptical when it comes to that. Plus of course, there's all the evidence from The X Files. :P
  7. Haha, this site is fun. I'm gonna be trying lots of people's pictures. My matches: (M-hm. I think this site is designed to give you an cheap ego boost especially if you're female :P) Kim Basinger 75% Elizabeth Taylor 74% Katherine Hepburn 74% Shu Qi 74% Summer Altice 73% Alessandra Ambrosio 73% Nelly Furtado 73% Demi Moore 72% Michelle Pfeiffer 72% Janeane Garofalo 72% (In my humble opinion, it's the last one I look like the most, but oh well. I'm not complaining, especially about number 2...I mean, Elizabeth Taylor...I wish it would be more obvious that I look like her.)

never really believed in the wesley snipes train of thought.... Actually, that's from 'Godfather' :P

Stupid thing, really. No matter what his personal opinions is, he's a good actor and a good director (imo). That's all you need to have a good working relationship with someone. So Richard Burton was a drunkard. Lots of actresses act like prostitutes. Tom Cruise is a scientologist :P Everyone gets on the nerve of someone in some way or the other, it's inevitable. People must stop being so sensitive about stuff.
  10. It is Bush's fault for starting and prolonging the war. My country, thanks to its very bright leader [/sarcasm] got dragged into this mess as well, and a few of our soldiers died there. Their families would have all the reason to protest, even more so because they died in a war that didn't concern them or their country at all. But yeah, politics and politicians ftw...
  11. I agree with most ones here. A few I didn't hear, but I'm gonna have to get a hold of them. Imo, some great covers are: Sonata Arctica - Die with your boots on (Iron Maiden cover) Thunderstone - Diamonds and Rust (Judas Priest cover) Johnny Cash - It's not me babe (Bob Dylan cover) Nightwish - Over the hills and far away (Gary Moore cover) Nightwish - High Hopes (Pink Floyd cover) -- a totally different feel from the original, but very powerful imo. Marco's voice rules. Children of Bodom - Bed of Nails (Alice Cooper cover)
  12. I've been on that site for a while, will join the group too. :) Last. fm is one of the best sites ever, great idea, plus really nice staff. When the site had problems for a while and they didn't update the songs I listened to, they gave me and others with the same problem free subscriptions for a month to make up for it.
  13. Er, regarding the story in the first post, I can't say I know anyone who's so downright evil and manipulative as that girl, nor as overly nice as the guy...They sound like movie characters from some hollywood romantic comedy to me. Really, girls are not so idiotic and manipulative as you paint them. And as for guys, chances are that being that nice to a girl probably means they have a secret agenda with her, that is, they're waiting to advance from the friend status to the boyfriend status.
  14. So, the way I see it, being emo is like being a rebel without a cause, right? You choose to be depressed, act depressed, etc. If you would *choose* to be one of those optimists that dress in pink, you would manage it just fine all the same. Meaning either choice you make is not based on the circumstances in your life, but on your own personal preferences (music, mostly, fashion, etc). Being depressed on the other hand, is a serious illness that you cannot choose to just snap out of and is far less 'romantic' than having long black hair in your eyes and lots of dark eyeliner. Not to be confused with each other. And gothic, like it has already been said, is a culture, a state of mind even, but it's more 'elevated' than emo. It's mostly concerned with the arts and esthetic. Some of the best literature and poetry of the world was gothic or influenced by gothic elements (Poe, Baudelaire, etc). People who are into gothic stuff are not necessarily depressed or make a point of looking 'fashionably depressed' but are more inclined to see the dark side of things. - "the cloud that took the form (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view", like Poe writes in a cool poem. In a free world, they should be allowed to do that, without being pestered by optimists that they're not living life as they should. :P Myeah, most of you will probably look at this post like :-s Sorry ^_^
  15. I'm curious, did anyone of you say to him/herself 'I am going to reach level x in this skill in a number of days' and actually did it or came close to doing it? If so, what was the skill and how much did you advance in how many days? Also, how did you establish that record time span, according to careful calculations, or just thought of a random number of days in which you thought you could do it? Part of the reason why I'm asking this is because I want to advance some skills as fast as possible, because soon I will not have the time to play as much as I can now and I want to make the most of it.
  16. Quite a few things actually, but like many people have said, I hate beggars the most. Plz this and plz that, and following you around and bugging you and not taking no for an answer. As if there aren't enough of those irl
  17. When I went into wilderness for the first time, got attacked by a guy some levels higher than me, I barely managed to kill him, my food all gone and my hp almost spent. As I was rejoicing my victory and looting the body, a zombie comes out of nowhere and gives me a 1 hitpoint blow which finishes me off. Was quite annoyed but I also laughed my head off.
  18. Either way, it can't be that bad, right? :P I think that after death you just stop existing, even if that's difficult to imagine. Or maybe you exist in another form, in which you won't remember a thing about your previous life. But I find it hard to believe in reincarnation. It's somehow too good to be true. Anyway the act of dying is more interesting than what happens afterwards imo. It's the last significant experience you're gonna be having, after all.
  19. Sort of agree with first post, and I have a thing for geeks/nerds. Still, sometimes one can prefer other types of guys, even if they're more stupid and superficial and you secretly laugh at them. Just in the same way that guys may sometimes prefer bimbos? :-w
  20. They should follow a newbie from its first days until he gets to level 99 or something. :P The trailer would look something like this: Birds eye view of Lumbridge closing in on a new player(Voiceover: Not so long ago, in a famous MMOPG no one wants to admit they're playing.... Dudette1083609 comes to life). Follow her adventures as she meets new and interesting people (Cut to a bunch of autoers cutting willows in Draynor village) makes a fortune (scammer: hey, Dudette1083609, i'll trim your armour with gold. Dudette: Okies!) and finds love (cut to Dudette1083609 kissing the frog) This summer... Drama! (Guy1: Haha, noob! Guy2: Lol, noobie, get outa here Dudette runs off) Suspense! (Evil Chicken: Mwahahaha! Flee from me, Dudette1083609! Dudette1083609 uses all her food, prayer points to fight the chicken, while her hp drop fast) Horror! (Sandwich Lady: Hey! I didn't say you could have that! * kicks Dudette on the head with a baguette) This and more, only in - The Movie Based on Runescape - insert fancy name here- coming soon at a theatre near you! And don't forget, everything you wanted may be just a click away! Closing shot of Dudette1083609 picking up a party hat Thinking this stuff up turned out to be much more exhausting then I thought :P What, don't tell me you wouldn't watch it
  21. "I poke badgers with spoons" Random ftw :P
  22. ^^ Uncalled for. And I'm pretty sure they played no concert without Tarja.
  23. I've actually had this idea for a would-be movie and I've been playing with it for more than two years now. It's not structured, more like random scenes and such. Basic idea: two people meet and have a relationship in the period between the two world wars and in modern times. The pair will have to be played by the same actors. No explanation as to how this is possible, but none will be needed, as that is not the point. The setting moves back and forth from one period to another and it will be a nice contrast. That period was full of danger and insecurity compared to this period, which excels in boredom. And people of course behave differently as a result of that, which would make for some fun and maybe even dramatic moments if it's done right. The ending will have to be surprising but I haven't worked out yet how. :P

Interesting. One thing is bugging me though. If this woman really has a severe postpartum depression with psychotic symptoms, such an illness is not born overnight. She's sure to have been acting 'crazy' even before she drowned her kids. There are stages even to mental illnesses and one doesn't lose their mental faculties and sense of right/wrong just like that. So why on earth didn't she seek help before the illness progressed so far? For this thing alone, and she is to blame. Also, her husband or the rest of the family and friends who probably witnessed her strange behaviour even before she did the crime, just stood back and let this insane person in charge of the children? As for the verdict, hah, that's some justice being done. It reminds me of that case when a woman killed some people randomly during 'that time of the month' and was found not guilty because doctors found her to be suffering from a bad case of PMS.
  25. Catch 22 is one of the best books ever! :D Certainly the funniest. I didn't read any Matthew Reilly but Dan Brown is ok. I read the Da Vinci code in a day and a half or so. Agree or disagree with his ideas, or his style, you can't deny that the book is entertaining and it keeps you curious to read more.
