  1. 2007's been pretty lame so far :P
  2. Weird cause all the people I know irl who listen to heavy metal are far from being gifted. The tone of that article is infuriating btw, because it sets off from the premise that it is commonly held that listening to heavy metal is something frowned upon, bordering on delinquent. That's about as untrue as it being 'the music of the gifted'. That study has lots of flaws, cause it's a correlative study as far as I can tell, and you cannot draw a conclusion of causality from a correlative study. In other words, if you find out I'm intelligent, and that I listen to heavy metal, you can't draw the conclusion that I listen to heavy metal because I'm intelligent. Or else you may as well assume I eat pancakes because I'm intelligent. I agree there's no relationship whatsoever between the music you listen to and your talent or intelligence, and not even your stress level, for that matter.
  3. I stopped watching the TV series at the end of seaons 4... is that still running? Nah, it ended a couple of years ago with season 9. The last two seasons were a disgrace (of course that has much to do with David Duchovny leaving the show); but actually it just got progressively worse after the move to LA, in the 6th season. So if you watched up to season 4 inclusively, you haven't really missed much. There were some outstanding episodes after that too, but not many. . Oh and the movie was made after season 4, but presumbaly you know this.
  4. The X Files 2 needs to be made, and fast. Already it's been almost 9 years since the first movie was made. I'm getting old here waiting for it :(
  5. So I'm guessing yes. Maiar and Valar characters would not fit in the game universe, since they're not inhabitants of Middle Earth of the Third Age which apparently is the timeline of the game, and they don't 'mingle' with Men, Elves, etc. Also they'd be way too powerful for the others. Well, I for one am very excited about the game; don't care much for PvP, exploring the world and interacting with characters will be fun enough! The screenshots look amazing. My only problem is with the classes - imo they are a bit restrictive and ocassionally overalpping, and I duno, not very Lotr-like. I dunno, I just wished there were more options and more 'specialized', depending on the race and such. Meh. But overall, very very excited about trying it out.
  6. Haven't read the book, loved the first movie, hated the second (actually haven't finished even watching the second). Johnny Depp was awful.
  7. Believe the word, I will unlock the door, and pass the CEMETERY GATES! \m/ Gosh this song is a bloody miracle, it's so awesome :|
  8. Lolness, I'm not ashamed of liking Abba, they bloody own! show me another band that's done as good as them. meh, I'm a bit ashamed I like some Julio Iglesias songs ;[ I mean the guy is kinda corny...Now don't think Enrique Iglesias, his son, who imo sucks. I mean his daddy. He's quite the charmer ;) I'm sorta embarassed to like him cause he's a bit too soppy....
  9. The Thin Red Line. But then again not a typical war movie, cause it isn't corny :P
  10. Yeah, I agree that it's more sad than visually disturbing. Although it has some freaky scenes. Like when Sarah is hallucinating those people coming out of the tv, and the refrigerator coming to life. :[ It's also one of the very very few realistic movies I've seen. Not much sugar coating there. I love these kind of movies, they're like a breath of fresh air. Or like a slap in the face. Either way, it's invigorating :D
  11. I really liked the ending to eXistenZ. The ending made the movie, actually. The movie was all good of course, but the ending was the icing on the cake. Made you go 'ahh wtf?' then playback the entire movie in your head in the light of the twist at the end. OT: fun, so i'm allowed to say 'what the heck' but not w. t. f. (note that i did not actually say the f word. I could be saying what the fluffles, for all you know). Meh, these are truly pathetic rules. Also since we're on the subject: 'what the heck' is not the same as w.t.f. The first brings a note of anger, resentment, while the second is more focused on the amazament, on the surprise factor. There is a difference. Yes, there is.

    Oscars?

Yup, you can bet it's all politics. All you gotta do is follow the trends. Anyway, personal tastes aside about who should have won, etc (I actually had no favourites whatsoever this year), but the show in itself...gosh, it's so boring and uptight and packed with bad jokes and awkward moments. Every time I watch I'm like *cringe* for god sakes, you're actors, can't you do better than this? >_>
  13. Hahah, I thought I was the only person who saw (and liked) that movie. No one else seemed to have heard of it :P. Anyway, I saw an awesome movie, Total Eclipse ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114702/ ). About the very controversial relationship between Rimbaud and Verlaine, two famous poets. Leonardo di Caprio is surprisingly good. And David Thewlis (Sirius from Harry Potter \o/) was a pleasant surprise. It was funny in parts, ridiculous and basically very sad. Like life! And well, it kind of helps if you read some stuff about and by these two guys. But even if you didn't, the movie is so well made and acted, you're gonna get caught up into it all the same.
  14. Heh, that's not Cradle of Filth, that's Graveworm who covered Fear of the Dark. I thought it was COF too for a long long time, but nay, 't is Graveworm who made a mess of that song. Cradle of Filth did a great job with Hallowed be thy name though. Imo, it's better than the original :x And speaking of Maiden covers, After Forever's 'The Evil that Men Do' is definitely better than the original! Gosh, that song rocks my socks \o/ Some other great covers: Childen of Bodom - Talk dirty to me (cover of Poison), Norther - Smash (Offspring cover), Sting - Windmills of your mind (Dusty Springfield), Dropkick Murphys - Black Velvet Band (Irish traditional), Sentenced - White Wedding (Billy Idol), Sonata Arctica - Fade to Black (Metallica), Nightwish - Over the hills and far away (Gary Moore)....Gosh, you just started me on my favourite subject: covers :D Oh, this reminds me, I've heard Tarja's version of 'Happy Xmas' by John Lennon a few days ago. Sadly it sucks. :( Bad cover. Awesome original though. Another terribly bad one that comes to mind is Rammstein's Paint it Black (Rolling Stones, or Judas Priest - dunno who the original belongs to :[ ).
  15. Is anyone into figure skating? If so, who are your favourites, what are your thoughts and expectations for this year's championships? I have small hope of that, cause there would have been a thread about it by now...but, maybe, who knows. : Did you watch the Euro championships, or, if you're from America, the Nationals were held around this period as well? If so, who did you cheer for and what do you think of the winners so far? I cheered for the pair from France who took gold at ice dancing - Isabelle Delobel and Olivier Schonfelder. They're awesome, and I've been watching them and waiting for them to win for three years, while they always managed to miss the podium and come 4th. But now, finally, it's gold for them, so huzzah \ . The pair from Russia who came a close second was also great, though. As for men's competition, it was a lacking a bit of excitement in the absence of Plushenko and Lambiel. I expected Brian Joubert to win (congrats France again :P) but I don't really like his skating style. And at pairs, I had no favourites or expectations, since my favourite pair had withdrawn after winning the Olympics last year, but the German pair who took the gold were unexpectedly awesome. I'll be watching out for them from now on.
  16. Heh. np: Pantera - Cemetary gates. Is this song amazing or what! \m/
  17. Go awaay from my window, Leave at your own chosen speed, I'm not the one you want, babe, I'm not the one you need... Yup, cheery! ;] Just kidding, sort of, cause the song does have an upbeat rhythm and such. Anyway this reminded me of another song I find upbeat and cheerful, you guessed it, Walk the Line, by Johnny Cash. And also I really like the lyrics and mood of the song 'Time's a wasting'.
  18. + 2 np: KISS - Detroit Rock City. Groovy baby yeah ;)
  19. Cradle are fronted by Dani Filth. Who in case you hadn't noticed, happends to be male..I think the jury is still out on that one ;) Lol! Someone actually thought Dani was female? Unless he meant that Sarah woman who sings on some of the songs, I forget her last name. Necromagus - how can you compare Evanescence with Autumn? The singer of Autumn has nothing on that whiny weak voice that belongs to Amy Lee. Really :[ That made me sad. Well I like female voices in metal. Provided they actually sound female and not animal like, as is the case with Arch Enemy. :P My favourite female voice is definitely Liv Kristine, and Tarja comes a close second. I have to confess Floor Jansen has an amazing voice too, even though I don't like After Forever. And Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil) sounds special.
  20. Almost everything by Flogging Molly. Actually, Irish folk songs, as a rule. Finntroll! Ensiferum! Or, if you don't go for heavy- And I go shalalalala, she's got the look! <3 etc.

    Love Songs <3

Haha really, just was about to say. Rock ballads make the best love songs. Other than that, I dunno, try some Elvis Presley, and of course good old Frankie (Sinatra). They're classics.
  22. Erm, something's not right about this list. COB and Norther are Finnish, Skyfire are Swedish, Elvenking are Italian and Dragonforce are from the UK. So, which is it gonna be? :P
