  1. Funny how I was talking about something like this a few days ago with someone ( about how annoying it is when parents still treat you like a kid even when you're 20 or so). Thing is, mothers will never stop babying their children (especially if they're boys). It's one of the laws of nature.Yet most people turn out fine. So if there's something wrong with the kid, it's most likely his mother's treatment isn't to blame. Maybe other kids shouldn't be such jerks to him? Bullying never worked as a way of reforming someone. I dunno, just a thought...
  2. Yup, definitely take it! How awesome : ] Your gf will probably be understanding, if you tell her that you decided to take the job.
  3. Nightwish in Tarja era = symphonic power metal, yes. Nightwish post-Tarja = NOT symphonic power metal. I don't claim to know what it is, but this trash (not thrash) isn't symphonic, power, I don't think it's even metal. Umm. Why are people bothered by the fact that genres are being discussed? Maybe some people like to discuss pointless things. Isn't that what forums are for? Besides, I don't think discussing genres is pointless at all. It helps when it comes to recommending bands to people who like certain genres.
  4. This thread is love. I have a million pictures of my two pets, I've chosen the most recent: My dog, Blue: Here she is with a huge potato that she's stolen ;P [hide=] [/hide] Sleeping in her armchair (you can tell it's hers by the state of it): [hide=] [/hide] And my cat, Alyosha: He sleeps in the most awesome positions: [hide=] [/hide] [hide=] [/hide] I adore them both.
  5. Yeah, true. Well, it's about the other people's reaction when you tell them you like it. Like 'you like that? Wtf is wrong with you?' Then you know you'd better keep it to yourself : P

No music when I study. I need complete silence (hard to achieve, though). Anyway music deserves full attention. OT: Von_Goon, is that Karl Urban (Eomer) in your avie?
  7. how can you have doubts about what Darkthrone is? :P Agreed, except I think Within Temptation is gothic/symphonic metal. Pure symphonic metal would be Therion.
  8. The definition of dictatorship is basically that no one has any freedom, so no, it definitely won't work. Monarchy, probably yes. However, the problem with having a single leader is that they sooner or later get corrupted by power and all the good intentions go to hell. As for Anarchy, that would work, except people are inherently selfish and if they were to do whatever they want, they'd end up breaking other people's rights. I think in the end Monarchy would be the best bet for things to work well.
  9. That list is okay but then again, what do I know. I'll leave it to the experts for ongoing discussion and debate (and hair-pulling).

They have a pretty cool atmosphere.
  12. Wah. I love it, the main characters are so silly and pathetic, that it's impossible not to like them, the fans are idiots, the rest of the world is stupid and everything is so extra randomly violent you can't help to burst out laughing...I gotta say the songs are pretty entertaining too. : P
  13. Ah darn, so do I : [ I'm so glad I got that off my chest. :P
  14. There are actually people who believe that ^ And the 'evidence' they have is the drawings that resemble spaceships from million years ago discovered on the walls of caves. Yeah... However, that doesn't explain why the appearance and anatomical details (for lack of a better term) has changed dramatically since then. Not to mention why animals evolved (and continue to evolve) as well. What I like about the evolution theory is how simple it is and how elegantly it describes a bunch of natural phenomena that would otherwise be thought of as bloody weird.
  15. I feel your pain. Have you ever had your internet down? Yup. For how long? I think the longest period was 1 1/2 months. What did you do in this time? Watched movies, mostly. Read a great deal. Checked the net once an hour or smth like that to see if it was back. Cried myself to sleep. Okay, I didn't literally cry, more like wailed and whined. How did it affect you? Well, kinda like an addict that has their stash taken away, I was restless and annoyed. I didn't actually want to do anything specific on the internet, except play games and check my mail, but I felt I really needed to be online, just be there. It was pretty odd actually...It's not like I wanted to do any important stuff online, I just needed to have an internet connection. I can see how internet can be an addiction but on the other hand everyone seems to have it, so I'm cool.
  16. Yeah, I do too. Meh. *sits down next to everyone and waits for someone with entirely different views to show up*
  17. He's the leader of a communist rebellion party secretly amassing an army of monkeys to do his bidding. :ohnoes: Both of you actually mean "Stalinist" there instead of communist; I usually don't correct people on things like that but these are not to be confused. You're acting as if these two have nothing in common. Wiki: Marxism, Leninism, Stalinism, Communism, Waffleism, Mehism.
  18. Animal Farm is way better. He explains too much in 1984 that it gets tedious. He explains what too much? Currently Reading: The Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie. I wanna read The Once and Future King, too, for ages! I have to remember to search for it at the library.
  19. Emma Woodhouse? : p
  20. American sitcoms usually suck, excepting Seinfeld and Married with Children, all those I've seen or attempted to see, were awful. I just stared in disbelief while lame joke after lame joke was being uttered. *shudder* @AdioLovesSquall : you just say Metalocalypse cause it makes fun of everything you hold sacred! ^_-
  21. Jeeves and Wooster is an awesome show. Just puttin' that out there ;p
  22. Maybe Baby. Tried to watch it, because one of my friends have wanted to see it for a while, but it couldn't really grab my interest. Boy, was it ever boring. Not even Rowan Atkinson and Hugh Laurie could do anything to redeem it. :P
  23. http://www.last.fm/user/blushenka Please tell me something I never heard of before. When it comes to music lately, I'm as dry as a camel in Rub al Khali.

Anyone who burns my country's flag is a friend of mine. Seriously. As for burning the flags of other countries, I don't see the problem either. They're just objects, aren't they? You can argue they're a symbol of king and country, patriotism, bla bla but then you're gonna sound more or less like a boring history book, and that is never cool. As for burning other objects, I like burning bits of paper at the edges and I know people who are artists when it comes to this stuff.
  25. It's a matter of proportion and situation. Like, if the woman is strong and has fighting skills and the guy is smaller than her and inexperienced, he probably won't even dare to hit her, even if she does start a fight, or if he does, it will probably make little difference. :P However, if the guy is obviously stronger than the girl, I'd think he'd better refrain from hitting her, for the sake of common sense. Same reason why you don't hit anyone weaker than you, like a child or an animal, because it's an unfair fight. In other words, it's no less unfair to hit a woman, than it is to hit a man, a child, or an animal, if they're defenceless and they did nothing to provoke it. As for domestic violence, I think any normal woman should walk out on her husband if he hit her, no matter the 'reason', and the other way around.
