  1. I think I've missed something... where's the evidence that over half the RS population left after EoC?
  2. Ahh right, I'm following you now. Thanks.
  3. Who never says exactly what what's for? I don't understand what you mean. PM me if you'd like. :P
  4. I'd imagine we can't put the video directly here because it contains heavily sexualised content. It's still up, a quick Google search would find it. I know Suomi visits this board, but for what my advice is worth; just remove the videos. Yes you look a little bit humbled and your pride takes a knock, but believe me it's a far better option than letting this go on and having everyone put their noses where it's not belonged.
  5. I think the saying is "If you want to gather honey, don't kick over the beehive". It's just common manners really. We all disagree with everyone else on some level; we're all unique after all. But it's still essential we remain courteous and civil and maintain some grasp of perspective.
  6. I love your signature. Every bloody game I'd stress because I'd lured it to the gate and someone would kill it anyway. Not that it's a problem post-EoC. :P
  7. That's disgusting. Even if you could do that... why would you? :-|
  8. Friend Chats had just been released, with the first iterations of HYT chat and BlogScape. Forum.Tip.It was a hive of activity. The IRC channel was still lively. No one can argue about the strength of the community back then compared to its current state.
  9. I wasn't talking to you, 07RS. Sorry for the confusion.
  10. Your estimation of how many members there are in RuneScape changes faster than the tide. I think that's the sixth time this thread you've altered your estimation by a very significant margin. Anyone would think you don't really have any idea.
  11. I think in that sense, a month is too long. You need to give enough time for reel the customers back in, but not so much that they'd become too satisfied after the first playthrough and decide not to renew their subscription. A week would have been better, certainly in my experience of having to make a second account (in 2009), after a week I'd settled into the game mechanics and I'd started to invest in my character's development. After a month, weariness had started to creep in, and my choice to play the game had boiled down to a "reward vs effort" balance in my own mind.
  12. Because that attitude worked so well with the RSC relaunch and the failed MechScape project. I've forgotten exactly how much that cost... in the end is was around £1m wasn't it? This won't cost anywhere near £1m for obvious reasons, but the point is still there. Companies usually try to avoid the habit of pissing money into the wind on failed ventures. Jagex seem to think they're exceptional to this rule. I'm not saying this will waste money; I'm highlighting that if it does, it's really not in their interest to do so, contrary to their current course of action.
  13. "In the last 15 months Qck is the best Nex hunter in RuneScape" - Roberto Mancini
  14. I'm not sure how your post addresses my point.
  15. "Rigging" was perhaps too strong a word. Perhaps "having their preferred option shoved down our throats" would be more accurate. Apologies.
  16. Why do you release a vote to gauge interest on a proposed update, and then effectively rig it so the final numbers no longer represent what your typical customer wants? It is moves like that which undermine the trust people used to have in Jagex about their altruism and how much they valued the fans of their flagship game. This farce has taken a resemblance akin to one of Randox's signatures.
  17. The majority of bots are gold farmers, 2007scape presents a totally new market to exploit; why wouldn't they want a piece of that pie?
  18. Went out on Saturday with a group of friends I've not seen in a few months. Right from the off there was a nasty taste in the air, I could tell something wasn't right. I asked one of them, but they just said "Yeah it's OK, we've got it sorted." One of my friends eventually broke down in tears just as we were about to set off to town ("we've got it sorted"... whatever). Eventually things got back on track and we went out, but it was still going on. People leaving for 20-30 mins at a time with each other, coming back in with forced smiles on their faces. Nobody dancing, just sitting mardy-arsed in the corner of the club. I was pretty drunk and I'd travelled 100 miles and booked some time off work to come to this thing, so it was at this point I thought of this thread and muggi's advice on drama. I then decided "[bleep] it, I'm enjoying myself and they can keep their secrets to themselves." So I went off on my own, danced with random strangers, and I did enjoy myself. Afterwards, I got half the back story on what was going on and... I won't go into detail, but it involved sex and it's the kind of thing fully grown adults should know better than to indulge in. My point is, drama's not a good thing. Yes, it's a story to tell later and it makes things more interesting, but it also usually winds up pissing a lot of people off and causing a lot of needless hurt. If you're the kind of person that exacerbates drama or actively seeks drama out, stop it. You're not doing yourself or them any favours.
  19. But then factor in all the people who voted for it on the basis that the tally would pass the 250K mark, or voted for it to support freedom for those who wanted 2007scape back. Neither of those groups would have any intention to play at $15/mnth. I think this is an awful situation for Jagex, and considering they wrote the rules to this little game, they have only themselves to blame for a marketing ploy gone horribly wrong.
  20. We've been over the problems of equating time to difficulty. In truth, the only real difference in complexity between cutting yews for 99 woodcutting and chopping ivies is that with yews you have to bank every now and then. Because that's so much more difficult. Spending more time on something might make it more tedious and might mean it takes longer to reach the end point, but it certainly does not make it more difficult. In any case, this argument's going around in circles. You think that time = difficulty. I don't. We're not going to reach an agreement here. Because you did talk about the state of the new combat system: [hide] [/hide] If you're going to deny making any comment, I'd suggest learning what you've already written in black and white first. I don't have enough experience of other MMOs to know. I'm not here to defend RuneScape or defend EoC, I'm just highlighting the issue that your argument seems to hold no consistency when weighed against any real scrutiny.
  21. Umm... phats still exist in the current live game. In fact, the contradiction in your argument is that we don't even know whether phats will exist, or how they'll be distributed, in 2007scape. If you care about rares, don't go for 2007scape right now until further confirmation has been released. As far as credibility is concerned, I'll redirect you to LCoolL's post. If you want personal credibility, getting 99 woodcutting on RuneScape ain't the way to do it, regardless of whether you do it on willows or ivies, as evidenced by the generally unsympathetic response you've experienced on a very pro-RuneScape forum. As others have said, there is nothing inherently more difficult about having to do more of Action X in 2007 than you do of Action Y now in 2013. It just means you waited longer. I fail to see the value of a game where the true measure between players is how much of the same repetitive chore they could tolerate before they reached breaking point. I will go further and extend this to your criticism of EoC. What exactly is the problem in having to use abilities in a tactical order to maximise your combat performance, compared to 2007 where you clicked a monster, sipped a few pots every now and then, and for the most part waited in pure tedium while random numbers flashed up on a screen? Furthermore, if you really find it that much of a problem, what's wrong with just turning on Momentum? It's basically the same thing, with a slight damage boost.
  22. I'm saying the extent to which you care about how "credible" your achievements are is wrong. You got 99 woodcutting by chopping willows? Well done, feel proud of yourself. I'm not sure why somebody getting 99 today on ivies changes the way you feel about your own achievement. The only logical conclusion is that you were doing it to show off, and now you're pissed because it's nothing to shout about. Otherwise, you'd be happy in the knowledge you did it the "hard way" and get on with life.
  23. If you were gaining 99s because you wanted to appear "credible", then I'd suggest you were playing RuneScape for the wrong reasons anyway. None of us really give a toss about your 99s, either then or now. If we appeared as though we did, we were feigning interest and being polite. As a general rule of thumb, people get annoyed by other people who brag ostentatiously about their own achievements. Oh, and censor evading is no way to prove your point to the rest of us. It detracts from your argument, if anything.
