  1. 70 Defence and 70 of the highest combat skill, yes. EDIT: Sy (below) is right, forgot about the +2 part. What further requirements do you want, exactly?
  2. It was a bad example. A better, and more archetypal example was when people used to cut yew logs and alch yew longbows. Although a small transfer of GP was incurred in the nature runes, this was far outweighed by the amount being generated through the alching. The base materials of course are free; yew logs, flax, rune essence are all reproducible at no expenditure, but 768gp still magically appears at the end of it. The 768gp appears in the players inventory and therefore doesn't need to be matched by another player losing money through a trade. It used to be a huge problem, much worse than it is now.
  3. I would personally describe that demonstration of care as appalling. The heart complication would be impossible to detect in that situation, but a lack of awareness about head injuries is unforgivable. A crushing injury to spine and rear skull involving a weight of that size and mass, any first responder should be considering a very high chance of fracture to limbs/skull and a head injury leading to concussion/compression or an otherwise unexplained loss of consciousness. In any of those cases, hospital transport becomes the first priority, followed by full body immobilisation and then recording of vital signs, especially alertness and blood pressure. That any trained member of staff would allow someone in those circumstances to just walk off, I find absolutely astounding. The only reasonable excuse I can think of is that Moore adamantly declined any treatment, which even in that state, he would have the right to do.
  4. Because the influx of new money being generated into the RuneScape economy is far greater than the amount of money that's taken out of the RS economy. Consider someone who is camping K'ril; everytime they get a Garb of Subjugation, they basically "magic" 10 million gold pieces worth of goods out of nothingness. There isn't any combination of things in the game that "vanish" another 10 million gold pieces elsewhere. So with 10 million new gold pieces in the RS economy, the value of each individual gold piece (of which there are trillions and trillions in the whole economy) depreciates very very slightly. Now imagine tens of thousands of people using similar "money making" methods at the game time. Suddenly, that depreciation isn't so slight. That's why RuneScape needs money sinks, and that's why so many top armours require gold pieces to repair.
  5. That's <4 hours, I DID 40 SOMETHING. HARDEN THE [bleep] UP. Spoken like a max.
  6. Why are you getting involved in that side of your ex's life in the first place? Most people steer well clear of the words "ex" and "sex" being in the same sentence for good reasons. :P
  7. It was accepted by virtue of the fact he was doing it. It's not like someone said "Right, do a back flip on a snowmobile or we'll pop a bullet into your kneecap." Similarly, I wouldn't have said Steve Irwin's death was a tragedy. A great loss to the world? A shame that so much potential isn't there any more? Heartbreaking news to his family? Absolutely. But they both died doing things they loved doing, which I think if any of us had a choice over, is how most of us would like to go out.
  8. Speaking of tigers, it's been ages since anyone posted cats on this thread: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7Bo0wleT7o [hide]Possibly the most adorable thing I've ever seen! (If you mute the 'Muricans in the background)[/hide]

That's the sort of exchange that has the hallmarks of someone in senior management telling this guy, "You did wrong, but let's not make a meal out of this; let's all sit down around a table, shake hands and move on." How do you feel about it now? I mean, if this thing never reared its ugly head again, would it still bother you?
  10. I know this might ruffle a few feathers, but it might generate some discursive value for this thread anyway... Is it really a tragedy when the risk was a well-known and accepted hazard of the lifestyle he'd chosen? Tragic, certainly; a tragedy, no.

I'm also a senior lecturer at a major university, holding a PhD in studies about the two World Wars, and I've released about five best-selling history books. But most impressively, I'm the top sniper in the US Army wtih a 14,678 kill count, and I fired the bullet that took out Osama.
  12. I remember 71 Dungeoneering. It's all so very purple!
  13. Nope, not just you; couldn't agree more. Tim--I appreciate that it takes a lot of bravery to write about all of those issues on here. Socially, is there absolutely nowhere you could go if you did decide to leave your partner? Is the possibility of moving back in with your parents really out of the question? Furthermore, if that prospect really is as unappealing as you think, is it actually worse than staying in your current situation?
  14. We have only one bathtub in our whole ward, which has 28 beds. We generally tend to use the far inferior bathing bowls brought to their beds and some wipes. Their ignorance towards the power of the bathtub is astounding, bordering on heresy. By the end of the next ten weeks, I will demonstrate the error of their ways to them by printing off your guide and making a display board around it.
  15. Oppressive state regimes that maintain an outdated feudal system and deny the working class their deserved rights. Oh, people who assume all guys prefer large breasts. It's one thing to have that as your preference, and another to try to mock others for not sharing it. Am I weird for, frankly, not having any preference for either small or large? :P
  16. They're free inside the UK if you go to your local station and pick it up. :P

Low blood pressure (hypotension) can be a sign of a septic infection but I wouldn't read into it too much at this stage (not least because your BP's not even been measured). Dizziness is obviously caused by hypotension and can therefore be symptomatic of a more widespread infection, but on its own it's much more likely to caused by less serious factors such as dehydration, stress or fatigue. I'd see your doctor if the change is that rapid. They'd probably want to check temperature since that's the main indicator of infection. But I wouldn't jump to conclusions right now, especially if it's also happening whilst standing up (you said it was happening while traveling room to room). Ear infections are more commonly associated with dizziness while lying flat.
  18. Oh come off it... we all know the reason.
  19. Oh, thank [bleep] he's gone then. I hear the funeral will be on a budget, the inheritance he felt was poultry.
  20. [hide=] [/hide]Never heard of him. Was he on X Factor or something?
  21. Who's ranting? I just want to overtake Maleficus. And with this post, I have with a 151 score. successkid.jpg Next step Dax, and then baby doll, I'm coming for you Randox!
  22. "Franklin Franklin Franklin"? No Franks here. Not even that Iiccee [bleep]er.
  23. The fact you weren't even registered on TIF when the thread started. ;)
  24. Did you consider that perhaps there are other reasons for that? Weakened immune response, less awareness of safe sex practices, more likely to self-report/symptoms more recognisable to HCPs, higher risk of sexual abuse vs elderly? Since you didn't leave a link to whatever told you this, none of us can very well check for ourselves, can we? I'm not saying old people "don't do sex". Quite the opposite, I said all people with very few exceptions possess a need to express sexuality. I just said it becomes less important to their lives. Look... I'll leave this in a very subtle way: A lot of the people I work with are single through natural causes, and if you think it's sex that they miss most about their SOs, I'd say you're well wide of the mark.
