  1. I think you're playing down the significance of "xp waste" too much... it is what it is; a sub-culture of the RuneScape population, and they're not likely to bothered in using the skill as a means of self-expression, as you're describing. Agreed on the point about citadels, though. It seems strange to me, looking at things like citadels and PoP, where you upgrade buildings, ships and infrastructure, that the Construction skill plays absolutely no part at all. It's like asking whether you want to a cut a tree, but not requiring the Woodcutting skill to do it. In Herblore Habitat, if you lack the Construction level for the hotspot, you can pay the guy to do it for you. Where does that happen in any other skill? Paying a druid to make overloads? Just doesn't happen.
  2. CAN WE ALL JUST WATCH THE YOUTUBE HAIKU AND BE FRIENDS? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUnVLELDzzI (Contains strong language and Fiya as the gaming video dater)
  3. People bought all their fish to cook from World 2 Fally. The GE essentially took away the "he who shouts most frequently shouts best" system that operated beforehand, but the mechanics were still the same. If you think people didn't power train in 2007, you are either incredibly naive or being purposefully ignorant. The reason cooked resources are worth so much less than their raw counterparts is XP potential. Raw resources have lots, cooked resources have none at all. That problems exists in both versions of the game.
  4. Because obviously, the same person would obviously belong to both of those groups. Obviously.
  5. To paraphrase somebody from the Relationships thread:
  6. Agreed. I can't see in my mind enough players willing to shell out for both games at the same time, and I don't think players are willing to "let go" of their 2013 accounts to play the 2007 game either. But giving away concessions like that will eat into Jagex's profits.
  7. The success of 2007scape will be shown in one month's time. It's impossible to know how many people are willing to pay for 2007scape since so many of its current playerbase were effectively given a month's trial by virtue of the fact they were already paying members. We also have no definite answer to whether paying EoCscape members will have to pay an additional fee for 2007scape in a month's time. There is a group of players who are playing 2007scape while continuing to run mains in the live game, and however Jagex decides on that question in the end could have a significant impact on its playing figures.
  8. We're going on a de facto 480K target but... the point is still there. It won't happen, or if it does, it'll be a shock to most people.
  9. The point was more directed at gold farmers, which constitute the vast majority of botters overall. Certainly, no one has ever gold farmed ivies or jadinkoes, given it yields no produce or the produce is untradable, respectively.
  10. 1:07-2:19 sounds incredible.
  11. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21586892 The convicts are getting a bit soft.
  12. Well at least we'd all have fresh-smelling breath. :^_^:
  13. I think once a currency establishes itself into the economy of 07Scape (gold pieces obviously exist, but not in sufficient enough quantity to put a value on them until this point) bots will flood into 07Scape anyway, even if it remains members only. If there's a market for gold to be sold, and the gold prices themselves are relatively stable, it will be farmed.
  14. My housemate is Italian and supports Inter. We asked him for his opinion on Benitez. "[bleed]ing idiot. Hasn't got a [bleep]ing clue." Mish therefore has less clues than none whatsoever. Congrats.
  15. If you'd be so kind as to descend from your ivory tower for just a few seconds, perhaps you would see how big an impact gold farming has on the economy of RuneScape as a whole. It's not just about competing for spots at frost dragons. ;) In any case, this is good news. Let's hope it keeps up.
  16. Two burners lit = ~250xp per dragon bone, one burner = ~210xp per dragon bone. So you'd have to miss five or six bones before needing to buy another bone... not exactly a huge waste given the time and inventory space saved in not having to light burners yourself. The average RuneScape player seems to have the patience of a two year old being shown a cookie, so believe me, the burners don't stay off for long before some very obnoxious person shouts "Ffs lite burner stupid host". I'm strongly disagreeing. By this logic half the skills in the game are useless because you can just buy items instead of crafting them.Overloads and extremes are non-tradable and non-assistable so... I'm not sure how to reply to this.
  17. Because when construction was released, there wasn't any high level content and therefore efficiency wasn't essential for everyone who wants to access high level content. If Jagex had said back then, "We're releasing a really cool D&D that requires 90 Slayer/Runecrafting/Prayer (etc.)" they'd have been laughed out of the RSOF. We're talking about a time where Barrows was the best sets of armours and the abyssal whip and a rune defender were the weapons to have. None of those things require much in the way of "efficiency" to obtain, so if you had any spare cash, you could afford to spend it on construction. Fast forward six or seven years, and that's not the case any more. There's a relatively huge amount of high level content. Nowadays, we have tens of thousands of players using things like PoP. Anything that requires money to be spent on must also contribute to efficiency in some way; 92 Prayer for soul split; 96 Herblore for Ovls (etc.); 90 Crafting/Runecrafting/Smithing to make PoP armours. Construction offers nothing past level 72, apart from aesthetics, and so there's simply no need to train it when there's other things to spend gold on. Nowadays, if it doesn't make you more efficient or improve your combat potential, it ain't worth it. Construction does not, and never did, help towards either of those two aims (gilded altar excepted, but even then you can use someone else's). Furthermore, on the Runecrafting point, Jagex have made very clear indications they wish the skill to be less about making ammo for magic spells, and more about making Runecrafting to Magic what Smithing is to Melee, and what Crafting is to Ranged.
  18. Is it only me who was in both of the categories "Plays EoC" and "Did not know the scroll button rotated the camera"? My arrow keys just earned themselves a long holiday.
  19. Your bog-standard abyssal whip will do the job nicely versus Xil's, they're not exactly tough as nails. Unless the ancient staff is enchanted by the recent Desert Tasks set, I really wouldn't bother with it. Hell, a Sara/Guth/Zammy staff would be better, and that's really saying something, because they're not "good" either. Given you'll probably want to use a staff in future slayer tasks (EoC re-balancing of the combat triangle means you can't just melee everything to pieces--you will have to mage some tasks now), it honestly doesn't harm to invest in a Staff of Light or a Polypore Staff sooner rather than later.

Perfect example of two people running before they can walk, to be honest. I don't really understand why you'd say "We need to get to know each other a bit more", and then say "Let's take a break". Surely that's counterproductive. OT: I strained my neck/shoulder (most likely trapezius) a week ago. It was only a small niggle but I carried on working on it without anti-inflammatories and now it's so tight and painful I can barely roll out of bed any more. These things happen, but the part I hate most is having to phone work to say I can't come in. They're going to be one pair of hands short, the ward is already running on minimal staff, and I hate feeling like I've burdened other people. I'm a student, so technically I'm supposed to be supernumerary but... it still doesn't feel great. EDIT: Also, given my university has the word "Hallam" in, and we're bang in the middle of the Union's elections week, this was only a matter of time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI2EpEoNXlA
